Chapter 17 A Wall Between Them

"Your Majesty..." Catelyn, the queen's head servant, speaks simply to the queen, who is mute in her place. Gwi appeared angry to her, which surprised her significantly. As a result, after the king's departure, Siera appears shocked and alone in the carriage. Catelyn is concerned about her because of her sorrowful expression.
Siera comes to her senses and exits the carriage; she refuses any assistance and exits alone. She went to her quarter to recover and ponder on what had happened in the kingdom as well as her relationship with Gwi. Why does she feel the distance between them has just increased?
Gwi, on the other hand, is currently on the west tower. A site where he would usually spend his time looking through a telescope at his people. This location is off-limits to the public because it has become the king's private retreat. Only the queen and king normally visit the tower together. When the monarch was in the tower, he would generally use the telescope to look about the realm. But now he's resting against the wall while sitting on the floor near the telescope. He is devastated.
Gwi leans against the wall, staring at the ceiling, his eyes filled with despair and anguish. He placed his hands on his temples before taking a deep breath and closing his eyes.
Lyn, who has been following the king from behind, has finally found his hiding place. She notices how distressed and unhappy the king appears. It bothers her. She approached him with caution and then stood not far from his position.
"I should have kept your concerns about the people of Daekharm village in mind and prevented that farmer from going there," the king says, feeling Lyn's presence. His eyes remain closed. He is, however, a werewolf who can detect the presence of others through their scent. He also possesses acute hearing that normal humans lack. As a result, he is aware that Lyn has been following him all along till now.
"This is not your fault, Gwi," the female werewolf says, hoping to make the king feel better. Gwi, on the other hand, only smirks bitterly.
"How could that be? I am the monarch who made all of this happen under my command. It is only fair to blame me and expect me to accept responsibility. I am completely useless." Gwi raises his head and opens his eyes. He can't hold back his tears any longer.
Lyn can tell how depressed he is right now. She takes a big breath and takes a seat near him. She accompany the king who cry out his feeling quietly, close by his side.

"The people on the northern border want to break away from the government of His Majesty Hwon Kingdom," one minister reported during a board of ministers meeting at the Royal Hall. Gwi's forehead furrowed in response to the sentence. This is not the first time this has occurred, and he has employed a variety of strategies to defend their kingdom's borders and protect his people. But why does it always appear insufficient? Why do the inhabitants of Daekharm desire to secede from the kingdom?
"Then only war is our last resort," the King declared as his final decision.
He now abandons the issue of the Daekharm's people. Whatever he tried to keep the hamlet from breaking down had no effect on their willingness to fight and chose violence. He can't keep sacrificing innocent people from the entire kingdom to protect a community that didn't even ask his help. As a result, he believes it is time for him to make the last decision, the choice he has always preferred to avoid, but must do so now.
The queen, who was present in the room, expressed her displeasure with her husband's decision. Gwi was not a callous man who would willingly fight his own people. Why did the man who was so loving suddenly become heartless? Siera does not want Gwi to make a decision that he would regret for the rest of his life. Furthermore, they still don't understand why Daekharm's people do such heinous things. What is the source of their motivation? Can't they figure out what's driving their actions before deciding to battle them in a war?

"Isn't it too soon, my king, to make a decision about war? We might be able to come up with new approaches to deal with them." Siera attempted to communicate her concerns to the king.
