Chapter 24 Has The Love Gone?

Siera's gaze is drawn to the twin Dane and Gene as she sits with her old friend Key, her brother's bestfriend, and her husband's pupil Ryu. The twin is running around the garden, Gene is attempting to catch a bug, and Dane is picking flowers. While the queen is watching their children, Key and Ryu exchange glances. They are wondering whether to question Siera about her surprise visit or simply wait for her to speak.
Dane is now turning around and looks in the direction of the queen. He is taken aback by the queen's appearance. His mother is quite a beauty in her own right, but the queen has an other degree of beauty, and everyone is drawn to her. Nonetheless, the queen usually exudes a frigid and unpleasant aura around her. She is not friendly to begin with, and she always maintains a serious expression.
Siera unexpectedly catches the small child fumbling with the flower in his fingers and smiles as their eyes make contact. Dane is overjoyed when the queen smiles. He dashes towards the queen, delivering the flowers he has collected for Siera. He had wanted to give it to her since the beginning, but is afraid when she sees Siera's glance. But as soon as the queen smiled, all of his dread vanished.
"This is for you," the small boy said to the queen.
"Oh, thank you," Siera says, touched by the small boy's treatment while his parents laugh. Key insists that Dane take Ryu's character because of his ability to win the hearts of ladies.
The queen lifted the baby Dane and sat him on her lap. She ruffled his hair in a playful manner. She was happy while touching the lovely little boy in that way.
"Your children are so lovely and cute. You two have become wonderful parents," the queen tells her friends.
"Yeah, they're quiet lovely before they start crying over nothing," Ryu said. His remark made Siera and Key laugh.
"Gathering all together like this brings back memories, it would be wonderful if Woon and the king were also here," Ryu continues, accidently mentioning Gwi's name, which quickly wipes Siera's smile away. Her altered look alerts the two buddies to the fact that something is awry, which concerns them.
"Yeah, it would be nice if the old times never changed..." mused the queen as she caressed Dane's cheeck.
"Gwi has always loved children and hopes to have his own soon. Does having children really make you happy?" questions the queen.
Siera is not generally attracted to children, therefore she is perplexed as to why Gwi is so fond of them since their young age. But after getting married and seeing her closest friend's children makes her feel a peculiar attachment. There is a secret hint in her query about the kids that Key and Ryu can pick up on. They are saddened because the queen appears to be depressed.
"Huwaaaa" they hear a cry from Gene, she falls to the ground and appears to be injured.
"I suppose she needs me. Dane! Let's save your little sister," Ryu urged, summoning his son and whisking him away to assist Gene. There is now only Key and Siera left. Key has moved closer to the queen because she wants to be there for her when she needs her.
"Has something happened with the king?" Key inquires cautiously.
Siera's glum expression darkened as she lowered her head. She attempts to hold back all the emotions that are bursting to the surface.
"Why am I such a moron, Key? How could I have been unaware that I had a child in my womb? Gwi would not have had the anguish of losing his child if I had been more observant and cautious." Siera's lip is shaking as she speaks. She begins to recall a past catastrophe that none of them will ever forget, leaving a deep hole in their hearts.
When Siera attended the hunting festival five years ago, something dreadful happened.
"Let's make a wager: would it be I or you who wins this year?" the queen asked her husband. They have entered the jungle while riding their own horses.
"You do realize I'd never be able to win you over, right? I don't have the heart to do that, my queen," Gwi remarked with his customary soft smile.
Even though Siera is a tough knightly warrior, it is not difficult for him to win over the queen at the hunting festival; in fact, he has a better sense of hunting. With his werewolf nature, he can defeat her in locating the rarest beasts, but he prefers to watch his wife shine with joy when she defeats him in their hunting.
Siera is someone who takes great satisfaction in winning at any costs, so he simply allowed her to do so in order to make her happy. After all, he would be proud of her if she proudly displayed the unique beast in front of another participant. He would also be pleased to inform that his beloved wife has won the event.
"Then you must try even harder." Hiyaah!" Siera mounts her horse and rides farther into the jungle. The king laughed hilariously Siera has always had a competitive side that would never alter. He then followed her from behind, entering the jungle meters behind the queen.
The further they walk, the darker the jungle becomes and the more likely it is that they will discover a rare beast inside. Siera comes to a halt to inspect her surroundings. She can't see Gwi anywhere; it appears that they split up quietly. She pulls out her unique blades and grips them fiercely, ready to hunt.
Siera could see a sparkling white light in front of her in the deep black forest. She carefully draws her horse closer and notices Muqaddas Kiyyik drinking from the golden water lake. Muqaddas Kiyyik, the male, has massive antlers and a radiant body. Its blazing emerald eyes are fixed on the water it is drinking.
This is Siera's second encounter with the holy jungle guardian in the forest. She recalls meeting Gwi for the first time when she first saw the sacred guardian when she first entered the forest decades ago. She chuckles to herself as she recalls how, back when she mistook the werewolf for the cause of the deaths of many holy creatures in the forest, their first encounter was quite interesting.
Suddenly, a massive shadow appears out of nowhere. A wild chimera appears in the direction of the queen, shocking the horse she is riding. As the chimera dashes towards them, the horse lifts his front leg and struggles. Siera is struggling to keep her grasp on the rope when the horse bolts at the speed of light.
The horse bolted, knocking Siera off balance. The queen falls off the horse and lands on the ground, as the horse flees to nowhere. She makes a terrible grimace and feels a painful sensation on her womb. She curled up and clutched her stomache, noticing a warm liquid on her inside leg and a scarlet mark on her garment. She is in pain.
Siera is still trying to deal with the anguish she felt when the chimera appears and dashes towards her. She tries to stand up in preparation for the combat with the chimera, but she has lost her strength. She takes her blades and throws them at the chimera, striking its leg and causing the beast to stagger.
"Siera!" Gwi appears just as the Chimera is going to stand up and assault her again. He dashed at the beast and pulled out his sword. He quickly slices the beast's head off.
But Siera is still curled up on the ground from the agony. She can't stand it any longer and begins to lose consciousness. The monarch promptly returns the queen to the palace and summons a doctor to assess her condition. Gwi had joined her during the treatment. He was terrified about her since she was in excruciating pain in her stomach. When the king examines the doctor's countenance as he examines her condition, he notices an anxiety on the doctor's face.
"What's wrong?" he asks the doctor, urging with him to inform him right away. The doctor is terrified by his strong and dominating voice. He instantly bowed to the king and apologized.
"I sincerely apologize, my king. However, the queen had lost the child in her womb," the doctor explained. His words have turned into a thunderstorm for the king and queen, leaving them both speechless.
"Do you mean that she is pregnant?" Gwi inquires skeptically, having never heard any of this.
"She was, but we lost the child now," Gwi felt as if the world around him was collapsing as he heard that. He let go of Siera's hand, which he had been clutching the entire time.
"I was pregnant?" Siera is equally astounded. She had no idea she was pregnant, and worse, she lost her child before she even recognized she was pregnant.
"Horse riding is dangerous enough for a pregnant woman, but her majesty fell from it. She was five weeks pregnant, but we can't save the baby," the doctor stated, regretfully.
Siera's eyes welled up with tears as she realized what had transpired. How could she have been so oblivious? They were married for twelve years before finally having a baby after a long wait. But she blew the opportunity and lost her child without even meeting him/her. She can't breathe when she thinks about it.
Gwi, on the other hand, was deeply shaken. His lower lip trembles with despair and rage. Why, exactly? He had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, but he blew it. He stands up limply, covering his face. He can't stand it any longer.
"Gwi..." Siera is crying his name in agony, but the king decides to turn around and depart. He was simply too shattered and disappointed.
Siera had witnessed Gwi's decision to show his cold shoulder in front of her for the first time. She was well aware of how much she was disappointing him right now. She was fully aware of how much anguish she had given him by shattering all of his hopes and dreams. And seeing the man she loves leave with a broken heart destroyed her heart completely.
"Would Gwi be happier with me if I hadn't lost our child back then?" the queen asks Key as she returns to the present world.
"Siera... We can't change the misfortune that has befallen us." Key clutches her hand tightly and strokes her finger, attempting to calm down her bestfriend.
"I feel like there is an invisible barrier between me and Gwi that has grown larger and larger as time has passed, and I believe he no longer wants to be with me. I thought I'd just become a source of pain for him; he must despise me so much for that," the queen replied tremblingly.
"There is no way he could despise you. We're all aware of how much he adores you. Even before he became your devoted commander and now king, even after you enganged and decided to marry Eros, he always gave you his heart. And even when he decided to vanish from your sight, he was secretly protecting you. That's how big you mean for him. He would not simply detest you as you stated." Key want to remind the queen of Gwi's devotion to her.
"However, he changed. So many things have changed between us."
Yes, he didn't always treat Siera coldly, but things are steadily tearing them apart. She knows Key is telling the truth about Gwi. Gwi has always been so dedicated to her and has given his heart to her in the past. Gwi still loves her completely, despite the fact that she feigned not to know his feelings and ignored him, stating that she will marry another man in the past.
But now that they've married and a lot of things have happened, she's beginning to skepticism everything. People have a tendency to quit fighting for something important to them once they have obtained it. Is she now meaningless because they're getting married? Is Gwi's love fading as he learns more about her weaknesses and becomes increasingly disappointed? She truly wants to beg him to tell her that he still loves her.
