Chapter 34 A Reconsile to Make A Refusal
Dan Oh will meet with Mykel again, as planned, but she is not as thrilled as she was before. It's not just because of her negative initial impression of him, but also because of her intense dispute with Woon last night. She, who typically begins the day with a good attitude, has been depressed since early in the morning.
She has been living alone since she left her parents' house to begin living independently, but now that Woon has come to live with her, she can feel much more delight because she shares a home with her most beloved person. Every morning, his presence becomes a special present for her, and the meal that he prepares for her is also very special, sending a lot of good feelings to her heart happiness. But she had to get up without him today.
Dan Oh spent the entire night crying and reflecting following their quarrel. The fight makes her depressed, but she needs to go to work even though she would prefer to spend the entire day napping in her bed. As a result, she prepares to see her webtonist in a sluggish manner.
Mykel wants to meet her at the same location she chose yesterday, even though her regular self would ask why he chose the location considering he grumbled a lot about the cuisine there, but Dan Oh doesn't have enough energy to think about it right now. She doesn't want to dwell on how bizarre and bothersome Mykel is when she already has a lot on her mind.
Unlike the previous time, Dan Oh doesn't come earlier on their where they promised. She doesn't want to wait another hour to meet Mykel there. But she always arrives on time. She reasoned that if Mykel was late again, she might be able to wait another half hour. But, contrary to her expectations, Mykel arrived sooner today than she did. He's already seated at their prior table and is intently working on his tablet.
Dan Oh feels a little relieved when he arrives on time, but it doesn't take away all of her terrible feelings. She approaches Mykel and sits in front of him. Mykel appears to be so preoccupied with his work that he is unaware that she has arrived.
"Ehem, you don't appear to be late today." Dan Oh speak anything in her mind to get his attention. He finally lifts his head and looks in her way as she speaks. Dan Oh greeted him with a business smile.
"Oh, hello, tiny writer," he says as a particular greeting. It should irritate her, but Dan Oh chooses to preserve her grin and avoid thinking about it. She simply says another low-key hello to greet him.
"Here is the draft I made for the first chapter, take a look," Mykel says to Dan Oh, handing her his tablet.
He claims it's just a draft, but it appears to be nearly finished for Dan Oh. Contrary to his outward appearance, which makes her doubt he can do a good job in their collaboration, he actually does a fantastic job. Mykel's drawing is extremely detailed. He is able to bring forth the fantasy background that fits so well with the narrative she wrote. It's as if he can turn what's inside her head into something actual.
Mykel is skilled not just at detailing the background, but also at creating a strong impression and feeling in each character. He told her yesterday that her narrative backdrop is uninteresting, but today he shows her that he doesn't have as many complaints about her tale background. He takes the written novel and turns it into a fantastic webtoon. It makes Dan Oh gasp in amusement.
"Heh, you don't have to be so fascinated. I'm well aware that I'm a fantastic webtonist." Mykel acknowledges himself as Dan Oh remains mute with her mouth wide open. He is overjoyed to see her expression.
"Wow, I thought you were just someone who could speak big without a fact," the writer exclaimed, still in shock. It makes Mykel happy.
"You still have a long way to go to be as good as me, tiny writer," the webtonist says again, but Dan Oh isn't bothered because she is fully aware that he is correct. She still has a lot to learn in order to improve her writing skills.
The meeting went better that day than it had the day before. They have a lot to talk about in the future chapters. Mykel and Dan Oh may have quite different points of view, and they occasionally have intense debates about it, but that's it. Everything went smoothly as they finished their meeting in the late afternoon.
Dan Oh plans to visit Woon's workplace after her meeting with Mykel. She wishes to reconcile with him and apologize for the mistakes she made. She's also bringing some food she bought on her way there because she wants to eat with him.
The karate center facility is crowded with people who train themselves; it reminds her of her high school days when she was still involved with the karate club. She will never forget that moment. Dan Oh goes deeper into the building in search of her boyfriend. It is not difficult to locate a standout individual like Woon, who has a tall body and an attractive face. She can see him from a distance.
Dan Oh is about to approach him when she notices a young, attractive woman approaching her boyfriend. The lovely lady is shyly smiling and playing with her long, smooth hair with her finger. Dan Oh understands the woman's goal when she approaches Woon: she wants to flirt with her lover.
"Woon-ssi, I made you a lunch. I'm a good cook," the girl remarked, her best smile on her face. She hands the tall man the lunch box.
Woon, on the other hand, isn't used to women constantly flirting with him, even if it's happened numerous times. He inhales deeply as he prepares to speak, but his gaze is drawn to something else from a distance. Dan Oh is standing there, staring at him.
His girlfriend had made him envious of her interaction with Kyung, and he can simply let Dan Oh understand how much it irritates him by being nice to the lovely young lady in front of him. He can take the lunchbox and make Dan Oh envious while disregarding her presence.
"I'm sorry, I don't want to," he says, but he rejects the young woman instead. She appears to be devastated by his rejection; she has her finest gorgeous grin on display, but he does not even look in her direction. She notices Woon staring in another direction and follows his gaze. She notices a young woman who appears to be much shorter than her and not as attractive as she is. She is also carrying a lunchbox.
"Is that your girlfriend? She appears to be ordinary," a woman commented. Her remark make Woon glare at her which terrified the woman.
"Ehem," she tries to keep her cool and act as if Woon's stare doesn't bother her. But she decides to leave before Woon becomes even more terrifying than he is now.
Woon stood motionless after the young woman left, looking in the direction of Dan Oh. They were both staring at one other on the spot. Dan Oh then begins to stroll in her direction, and Woon mimics her movements. They approach each other.
"What's bringing you here?" Woon asks bluntly, still feeling reluctant from their fight the night before.
"Can we speak in a more private place?" Dan Oh offers an idea.
The two of them then decide to eat and converse in the garden near the main structure. They are unable to communicate because of the tension between them.
"It must be very difficult for you." Dan Oh is the first to speak. Woon is perplexed as to what she means by her oblique sentences. As a result, he decides to remain mute and wait for her to continue.
"I should have been more aware of your feelings because I've been in your position before when I got trapped in your planet. At the time, I was perplexed about how to adjust to a completely different atmosphere. And even as I grow closer to you and the others there, I miss my parents and friends here," she continues.
"But you came here just to see me, even though you knew the consequences. I should have known you had a lot to give up just to be here when you already have a lot on your plate. "I'm sorry, I should have thought about you more before saying everything last night," Dan Oh eventually apologizes to her partner. She speaks while lowering her gaze, not wanting to stare at Woon's frigid face just now.
"But... As much as I want to understand you, I can't just cut off my friendship with Kyung. It may seem difficult to imagine that I once had feelings for him, but Kyung to me is like Ryu to you. They are a treasured buddy to us." She attempts to adequately convey her condition to him. They remain silent since Woon does not respond to her explanation, and Dan Oh is waiting for him to answer.
"In fact, I feel as if my worth has decreased since I moved here." Woon speaks for the first time.
"Why?" Dan Oh, on the other hand, eventually looks in his direction since she doesn't comprehend what he means. She wants him to get rid of any unpleasant feelings that may be lurking in his heart.
"There are so many things I can't do properly here that make me realize I'm not good for anything. I can't make enough money to live a better life, let alone give you a better life, so I have to be a burden to you by staying in your home. People here frequently underestimate me because I lack a formal education. It made me understand that I don't belong here and that I have no place here."
"Every time I see you with him, who has much more value than me, it makes me feel insecure and makes me think that maybe you are really better if you choose him over me." Woon takes a breather when he can't continue speaking.
"Woon-ah..." Dan Oh gradually places his hand in hers.
"It's not your worth or your upbringing that entices me to be with you. I want you because you are you. I don't mind if you're unemployed and don't have a place to live here. Because I am well aware that you are more than that. You are incredible simply the way you are." She glances at him with genuine interest. Woon fixes his focus on her and thoroughly examines her expression.
"But it's still not enough to make you want to marry me, right?" he asks, the question on his mind the entire time.
Dan Oh is surprised by his unexpected question. It's not that she doesn't want to marry him; she's simply not ready yet. Of course, she always wants to be with him, but marrying someone requires much more preparation for her, and they are still not prepared. She is aware that Woon want to marry soon; their diverse cultures and backgrounds most likely cause them to regard marriage differently.
"I'm sorry," she finally whispers, letting go of his hand. Woon can only sigh bitterly after hearing her unequivocal refusal.Download Novelah App
