Chapter 42: Start Of Something New
Kyle Ethan’s POV
“Is everything okay?”
Kira suddenly spoke, causing me to look up from reading. “Yeah. I’ve already informed Mom at the palace and the others. Everything we need to bring and use is prepared.”
He nodded at me. “Good. We can finally relax.” He stretched and laid his body down on the sofa.
I closed the papers I was reading, which were placed in a white folder, and glanced around. “Where’s Vince?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. He’s been missing in action these past few days.”
I nodded. “Well, let’s just give this to him. He’s probably just killing time somewhere.”
“Yeah,” Kira sighed while staring at the ceiling. “Is there still no new information about her?”
I stood up and gathered my things. “No, there’s still nothing. A new report came in, but no one has seen her yet.” I put on my jacket. “I’m leaving now. I’m going to visit Nicole.”
He furrowed his brow, looking at what I was carrying. “What are you going to use that for? Are you going somewhere?”
I laughed. “No. I just feel that she can use this later.”

Nicole Jane’s POV
“Hey, Nicole! Wake up! We might be late for class.”
My eyes opened wide as I realized what day it was. I quickly got up. “Oh, shit! Go ahead without me. I’ll just take care of my things and fix my stuff first.”
Steph looked hesitant at first, which made me roll my eyes. “Oh, please! Spare me your protector duty. You still need to pass by the library, right?”
She mentioned that to me last night. I was supposed to accompany her, but I overslept.
She just shook her head and laughed. “Okay. I’ll go ahead then.” She turned around and walked away.
I looked up at the wall clock. It’s already 7:20 am. I still have forty minutes before class starts.
But I was almost startled when her head suddenly appeared at the door. “Oh, by the way, I fixed your things. You’re welcome!” She waved her hand before completely vanishing from my sight.
I shook my head and smiled. Then I looked at the small table next to my bed and noticed that my scattered notes from last night were no longer there. I quickly got up and took care of things.
Today is the start of the final’s week. I’m sure all the students here will be in zombie mode again.
After taking care of everything, I quickly went out but suddenly froze. I looked at the left door beside ours.
For a moment, sadness envelops me.
I don’t know why, but I suddenly missed her. The person who always bothers me. Like always trailing behind and waiting for me, so we could go to school together. And whenever we walk, her mouth just doesn’t stop talking.
But despite everything that she has done, I’m still hoping that she’s doing fine wherever she is right now, and that we will be given a chance to be reunited again. Because I believe that there’s still goodness in her heart.
“Are you just going to stare blankly there? We’ll be late.” His deep voice brought me back to my senses. I could feel the warmth of his breath hitting the back of my neck.
I turned to him and smiled. “Let’s go.”
He held my hand, and instantly, I felt relieved.
“We still don’t have any news about her whereabouts,” Kyle informed, as if he knows what I’m thinking.”
I nodded my head and held his hand tighter.
“You know that I won’t stop until I see her again, right?” I joked, but his handsome face remained serious as he looked at me.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that. I’m fine,” I assured him.
But my eyes widened when he suddenly kissed me.
I pinched him on the side, but he just laughed at me. “You’re always so PDA! Can’t you see there are students around?”
We were entering the main building now, and almost everyone’s eyes were on us. Some were even whispering to each other.
But of course, there were always those eyes that stared with hostility, while others gazed with envy.
Oh, well. Almost everyone who were annoyed with me here were the human students. What do they know about me? About us?
“Just don’t mind them. All of them here knew that you’re mine anyway.” He winked, and I swear my cheeks blushed.
I just glared at him and started walking ahead. He chuckled and caught up with me. I was annoyed, but I couldn’t help but feel thrilled. And that made me even more annoyed!
“My babe is so cute when angry.” He poked my cheek repeatedly, and I just gave him a stern look.
“Stop it, or I might forget everything I reviewed!”
He chuckled and held my hand again. It was true, though. He might as well conquer my thoughts again, even though he already had my heart.
I winced at the thought. What the hell?
We quietly walked down the hallway towards our classroom. I couldn’t help but look around. Everything seemed so normal. Humans were still unaware of the existence of vampires, and vampires managed to interact with humans as if nothing was amiss.
As we entered, we coincidentally found Sir Martin walking in right behind us. Kira, Hiro, and Steph were already here. I frowned when I noticed that someone was missing from the group.
The whole day’s exams have passed, almost drying up my brain. But I can say that I’m confident with my answers because I’ve dedicated a whole week to studying.
“Finally! Just a few more days and it’ll be summer break!” Hiro said with a big smile on his face.
We’re currently in the Student Council office. There are a few things we still need to take care of before the upcoming summer break.
“And graduation,” Kira added.
Yeah. Graduation is about to come as well. We have a lot to take care of because in just a few days, we’ll be leaving the academy for good. Miley, Reiri, and the new officers will be in charge of the students’ welfare in next term.
Just the thought itself made me sad already. I’ve only been here for about a year, but there are so many memories I won’t forget.
“You guys are lucky.” Reiri pouted. “But I’m excited to go to the beach!” she added dreamily.
“Me too!” Miley giggled.
I smiled. I’m excited too. I know that it will be a big help for each one of us if we go to another place, even just for a while.
I looked around. I rarely see Vince these past few days. I haven’t bothered Steph anymore, and I’m just waiting for her to tell me on her own. Now I wonder what really happened to the two of them after that night.
I suddenly felt like someone was staring at me. I looked around and saw Kyle looking at me intently. I furrowed my brow.
“What’s with that stare?”
He sighed and held my hand. I was surprised when he suddenly pulled me outside.
I didn’t say anything and just let him take me wherever. Until I suddenly realized that we had arrived in a forest.
We stopped in front of a tree, and my eyebrows arched when he knelt down with his back facing me.
“What are you doing?” I asked curiously.
“Hop on,” he said seriously, and I just laughed. I think I know where he intends to go.
I looked up. We were in front of one of the tallest trees in this forest. “Are you underestimating me? I can go up there by myself.” I stuck my tongue out at him.
“I know. But don’t spoil the moment. I was being romantic here, so just hop on,” he said irritably.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or feel delighted with what Kyle was saying. But I could feel my cheeks suddenly warming up.
“Okay.” I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck. I rested my head on his back.
Kyle quickly but carefully climbed up the tall tree. Meanwhile, I felt like I was floating in the clouds. And to top it off, my prince charming smelled amazing.
When we reached the top, Kyle slowly seated me on one of the branches.
“Wow.” I couldn’t help but be amazed by the beautiful view in front of me.
From where I was sitting, I could see the entire academy and even the whole forest. The wind was strong and cool, making me feel even lighter. It was the first time I saw the beauty of the entire place as a whole. It seemed like we were on an island since there was also a river and waterfalls!
“You like it?”
I looked up because Kyle was standing beside me. But I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw him furrowing his eyebrows. “I love it,” I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
He playfully messed up my hair, and I just gave him a teasing look. “That’s much better.”
It would have been so much fun to take pictures of the surroundings. But unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me.
“Here.”
My eyes widened in disbelief when he handed me a DSLR camera.
“Where did you get that? Did you perform some magic?” I asked him in astonishment. We didn’t bring anything when we came here, because he suddenly pulled me along with him, I wasn’t able to prepare.
“It was already here. I left it earlier. I know how you love to take lots of pictures,” he replied.
“How did you know that? I didn’t mention it to you,” I wondered.
Actually, I really love taking pictures. It’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed since I was a child, even in my past life.
With that, I think I already knew the answer.
He smirked. “Have you figured it out already?” He sat next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist as if supporting me.
I nodded and rested my head on his shoulder, then whispered, “Thank you.” I took the DSLR camera from him and started fiddling with it.
Now I can say that being beside Kyle Ethan Clarkson is the best place I can ever be.
I straightened myself and faced him. “Babe, smile.” I chuckled as he looked at me with a puzzled expression.
And right at that moment, I captured the most beautiful and amazing view that I have ever seen.Download Novelah App
