Chapter 13: Curse

When I got out of the cage—I mean animal cage, the village chief personally took me out of that shabby place, he told me about the village situation and why they pointed weapons at me.
"Aura is an imitation of light particles, which is called—"
"Atoms."
He looked at me and nodded. "Our body has atoms inside of it, and inside atoms are molecules. However there is a difference between the condition in a body, if a human has a weaker body, they are contained with weaker molecules, and if the person is capable of miracles, then the body contains limitless molecules."
I was aware of that from Tartys knowledge. A body is different to a soul, since a body consumes molecules, but that depends on it. Since a hero borrows God's power, it doesn't mean it is powerful, in fact it needs to be trained in order to upgrade its capacity of containing atoms inside a molecule.
However, it is different from a monster's body. The body of a monster can take upon millions of atoms, and turn it into a container which fills from the molecules evolution. The aura as we mentioned is the atoms glowing within the evolution, and it means that an atom is like a shield of light instead of a nothingness.
Consider the atom as an engine of mana, they are particles that regulates inside of a person's body, process into energy and become a plasma which convert into mana. That is why atoms are sometimes overwhelming inside a person's body, they either satisfy the surrounding of atoms or create their own opinion.
"A person whose intention is leaking can be seen throughout its thirst by atoms flowing, usually we control the intention within our body but what we have seen in your case was different."
He was talking about me not sensing my own overflowing presence. I mean it does look suspicious, even I would get wary if something like that would happen to me. The emotions of a person, it's true intent or his thirst is being exposed through presence exposure.
This means, this is an abnormal incident that made them worried about me. So I had to control those atoms, in order to secure them at all costs.
"It is a sense that is stronger than any demon that we had encountered nor even a hero we have seen," I shifted my head and smiled. Of course, I have this cheat system inside of me.
"The presence of a monster is hard to accumulate, because their extreme silent personality scares the hell out of any human with lesser instinct, so we had no choice," the chief said to me with a pallid expression.
Then he breathed out. "So, you are Lucifer?" He asked.
"Yeah, I am a prince, like I mentioned before, and this land had been here ever since the 10th grandfather ruled, so beside your small village stood the Ogre Kingdom," I said, pointing out the direction they shall never go.
"It is actually a lot to take in. We do not feel the time at all, nor we age as the passing goes. Since a day here passes two days outside the barrier, we don't even know what it looks like outside," the barrier is a curse but I don't know what kind, nor Tartys will ever give me information about it.
The only thing he told me about was that this village had been under experiment. It is to trap them inside, stopping their time to age, nor the time they feel. He told me that the curse is controlled automatically, if it ever has a owner and that owner dies, the barrier stops operating but that didn't happen for this barrier.
Even with the owner dead, the barrier remains functioning inside or outside its walls. Of course since the system acquired it, the barrier will act upon my control. Making sure it is functioning, but if I choose to close the barrier, wild animals or hunters from the kingdom will notice the presence of human beings inside this land that will notify father inside the castle.
For them to remain safe, I will not expose this place from the outside. I have plenty of mana that can operate the barrier through my command, but I left it on Tartys care anyways. The difference between me and Tartys is the fact that we have a separate body or vessel, then that means also that we have different containers of mana inside.
As Tartys have a beyond mana container, I can just leave it within his care for the safety of the people inside. I nodded and asked Tartys.
Hey, will you take care of the barrier?
『Answer. I can function the barrier through the gain authority but must recharge within a certain capacity.』
Nodded, fair enough. Just don't harm those who seek no intention at all, it will be messy if you starts murdering those who passes by the barrier.
『Not a problem, as long as I am upgraded to a higher level in order to achieve the ability to see through one's soul.』
Yeah, no worry. I will use this land to find a way to upgrade you up, little bud.
"Ah, will you be staying for a while?" The chief asked.
"Sure, I am not that busy anyway," I responded. He told me that his name is Gray, if I remember correctly, so should I call him village chief or will I call him by his name?
"May I call you Gray?" I ask.
He looked at me and smiled. "You sure are one strange monster," he nodded. "Sure why not."
---
I was taken to a place they call a cabin, it is very old compared to the house I awaken from nor those 2d houses I've seen on games about medieval houses. It's only a concept in mind but it does really resemble one, that's for sure.
This village is like a small town, there are these separated roadsides and walls built over. It is not that big but it is very wide, the other side of the village has small fields of crops, rivers and the forest. It doesn't seem spacious though so I wonder how they are able to contain food nor eat food.
"You have farm fields here? In this situation? I mean, don't crops grow with sunlight? Doesn't the barrier affect the growth of these fields?" I ask.
Gray looked at me before opening the door to the cabin. "To be honest it is a miracle for us to survive that long as well with the lack of resources, the farm fields need sunlight for crops to grow but strangely the effect of the barrier helps with the harvest of crops."
That doesn't seem right. Does he mean that the field doesn't feed on sunlight but it still grows a good harvest? Shouldn't that be impossible?
"Animals can walk through the barrier in and out but it doesn't last long, so we only had vegetables as our food supplies daily. Of course we eat meat but not regularly because it's very rare to have one in this place."
I see, so the barrier doesn't have any effect on animals but they don't survive well inside this barrier. Hence they have to endure with harvesting crops, thankfully that the crops grow without needing sunlight and it will not fail to grow.
I had to admit though, surviving this long is very impressive... Won't that break anyone's mind getting isolated in this same old place without seeing any sign of sun, nor moon at night. That would seriously break me off if I were one of them.
"It felt eternity what we had felt for those long years, we don't even know what it is today. We lost track of time and gave up on knowing about it. So we had no choice but to live this life, isolated from this solitude place."
I breathed out and looked away. "You sure are a lucky prick, anyhow, I will let animals inside the forest zone but be aware of the danger lurking outside."
He nodded. "We understand," then he paused. "Ah!"
"Charlotte!" He opened the door wide enough to run inside leaving me behind. Did he just scream? I took a peek inside and a small house appeared before me.
Then I saw Gray walking on a side where I saw him smoke in the air. Is there some sort of a problem? Maybe I should help if something comes up. Let's go with him.
Intrigued by what I saw. The place we entered—I guess the kitchen was a mess. I feel like the scenery of an epic failed attempt meme's from the internet, like cooking will literally become poison be like—that's what I meant.
"What the heck, Charlotte!?" Gray yelled in front of a girl I have never seen. She was on her apron holding a wooden spoon, her hair wavering in front of her at a mess in a color of purple pink, it was shaggy that is very long compared to anything shabby. Her eyes have those golden pupils, rounded up with an excessive amount of effort.
I can see her hands in black, some part of cooking I guess?
"You almost burned the kitchen, do you know how precious this food is right now? Don't waste it!" Are they couples? But it doesn't seem right, they don't look like one either.
"I-I was just trying to help, brother!"
