Chapter 6: Doesn't Belong

As soon as all of my attacks become one. I was hoping that my brother would fall, but instead of seeing him burned, I saw white veil that surrounded him from my attack.
No, a barrier!? No, the second brother has no skills that can block an attack. He only has his offensive skills, so why? Who owns that barrier?
At that moment, I did not know that father stopped the fight using his own skills. I wasn't able to have the chance to react because he immediately levitated in the middle between me and my brother.
Father did that to stop the fight. Father who doesn't care whether his childrens die or not. I can't believe it, what does this old geezer want now?
"Father, why did you stop us!? I could have killed this bastard to clean up our family name!"
Father only flinched then he looked at me. "Boy, you did really try to kill him didn't you?" he asked me instead of responding to his second son.
Perhaps there is something he was more amused of besides seeing his sons killing each other. "I wouldn't if he didn't try messing with me first," the second brother didn't know what's his up to if father did not stop the fight.
He will be a corpse by then. More painful than getting defeated is to be burned by flames.
"I was hoping you'd say that," he smiled and nodded. Now this is something, what is he planning on doing now? He's trying to make another prince to be crowned, so in order to find that prince, he wants us to kill each other and make the last person alive take that position so they can match with the first crown prince.
Fuck this shit! I don't know why this family is messed up but I don't think I can live with them any longer. This is the stupidest thing I, as a war veteran, has ever done in his entire three chances of life.
"I said I will crown a new prince to match with the crown prince, however, I don't think the part I said 'kill each other' is a statement both you and the other prince understand."
Then what did he mean? "What the hell did he mean?"
『Possible answers: To test both sides capacity and using this reason to choose which he decided to pick. Or rather he wants to know how much you value position over the life of others and everyone around it.』
You're right, though. Simple by covering the truth of 'kill each other and take the position' but the truth behind the said word. I didn't understand but I guess from memories, father has some kind of hobbies or rather personality other than his cursed humor of a self.
Though these are just possible answers. We don't know what he truly meant.
"My sons, I let you go on a rampage to see how much you value the life of one another, that is the reason I didn't dare intervene until now—that Lucifer here wants to murder his second brother, but I saw something remarkable than today's fight."
What now? I glare on him with a cold expression I could master. Father might have taken a dose of drugs for him to say illogical and strange words.
He turned around and approached me. "Lucifer will never save those people below him, he is a superior bastard who thinks nothing but being the strongest. I cannot see how that ass of a son can become someone as logical as this, then—" he paused before he shifted back and took a peak below us where the city lay down in a total confusion. "He might not come back well and I like this new Lucifer here, he does something more impressive than his overconfident personality."
This father here knew something was wrong with the old Lucifer and instead of questioning his son as to how he became like this. He ended up accepting them for no reason and forgot the fact that I behave strangely opposite to how jerk I am back then.
I didn't know how to react. I was so dumbfounded and it wasn't funny. I understand that Lucifer should have been more consistent but I cannot act his way of living.
Lucifer? No, he is nameless just earlier. The name Lucifer had been my name for a very long time. The name of a devil—no, a fallen angel. Hearing that name and using it to describe a filth behavior by a personal hatred.
That does not make sense? I don't know either.
"However, father!" Second brother tried to resist. He really wants to die, but unless father disapproves of him, he can't do anything about it. That's for sure, I stared away and then nodded.
"I've had enough with this second prince, I don't wanna hear anything about this again! The fight to determine the heir is a practical exam and not real at this point. The first prince will take over the kingdom, nothing more nothing less, do you understand!?"
He didn't wanna give up just because you told him that father. The second prince held a very bad pressure and emotions about his younger brother. It won't matter if he decided to disobey your orders and go with the kill. We are ogres, it ain't a surprise that's all.
His eyes looked so fierce and I was left speechless. In those heavy glare, I was blamed, and in those heavy eyes I was cursed. Despite not hearing it directly, I was able to hear it virtually like a connection or telepathy but of course that's basically because his face shows everything.
I can read them. I was trained to spy, remember? I am a veteran war soldier. I spent my days on the battlefield trying to figure out how to fuck the enemies frontier and learn the ethics of spy. That includes learning thought by learning expressions and understanding facial movements.
So I won't recommend fooling soldiers from a World War because you think it's funny. Some of my allies were sent everywhere to do both jobs, even though they only wanted to be a soldier. So many died trying to infiltrate the enemy's base, and many of our people were wasted trying to find a way to survive.
It was an attack. Around the world, not just us, we were being held back in the cities and we didn't know what to do. So the commander had to make a choice, and his choice released me from that bloody hell.
I clicked my tongue and nodded. I did enjoy having my sweetest time in my second life, and I wasted all of it. I kept remembering my past life memory despite dying, I had no answer as to how it happened but yeah, I can't tell if God is playing with everything.
A few moments of staring at each other I decided to sway around and jump, landing smoothly at the same position as I was when we were eating dinner. I didn't hear anything from them so father was talking to second brother and didn't even have time to notice that I was gone.
I looked around to see my brothers silently eating their so-called food. Through the food, I already have a bad guts about ogre's meal but I would never try to imagine it. Those uncooked flesh, fresh as it smells, the wines are very similar to over taste alcohol that makes you wanna throw up, and organs.
Right organs... How can I not identify an organ? It's basically an organ on the table, they eat like some kind of a beast—well they are a beast, what the hell did I expect?
『Confirmed. If you do not ask, this are human flesh—』
"Shut up! Don't mention it, I know that already!" I was so pissed that I shut Tartys up without letting him talk further.
I can't believe it, I won't try to imagine it but damn Tartys had to describe it. What the hell is wrong with you!? Argg, my head hurts, I need to breathe in and out. Let's get this over with, the system is right though, they ate human flesh and organs.
Oh God, I've never felt this horrible my entire life. I've never seen such a gruesome and fetish scene my entire life. Ah, no I did, but not to this extent! I may see blood and bones, or flesh being broken but not entirely inside of it!
Let's not think about this. I feel awfully sick. "First brother," I said in a low voice. I could hear not a single mess on my voice but confidence and belief.
He turned around though, he was busy feasting over his human organ when I mentioned him. He looked at me deeply but not annoyed, offensive but not to the point of wanting to fight me, he didn't seem to care but he still turned to hear whatever I had to say.
"You knew that father was not serious about the thing, right? You've never reacted and so relaxed for a man who's position will soon be shaken. So, why didn't you stop him? Why did you let it? No, why did you support his shabby attacks?"
He suddenly snapped and smiled. The breeze of his smile makes me tremble, one I cannot turn back from. He remained like that until I heard a rattle sound and smooth footsteps.
"This is a battlefield of the strongest, the weakest like you don't belong here, son of a maid."
