Unexpected 49: Girl
While I was busy typing on my monitor, I was slightly surprised when Melissa and Andrea approached me. I frowned.
"Aren't you busy?" I asked because it was as if they were doing nothing and still had time to chat with me.
"Did you know Zandy made an effort to pick you up at the bar last night?" Melissa said immediately. "I was just wondering why he seemed so concerned about you at that time," she said weakly.
I frowned. So, it was Zandy who brought me home last night. I don't know but something appeared inside me because of what I heard.
"I felt something strange about Zandy that night. He was very worried about you as if he were a real husband," Andrea seconded.
I pretended not to be affected by what they were saying. I faced the monitor again and started typing. "What are you guys thinking, huh? He was just concerned because we live together under the same roof and if something happens to me, I'm his responsibility. It's like what he did to me in the studio," I explained.
"I disagree, Miles, I know his heart was whole when he saved you from the studio," Melissa immediately protested. "He wouldn't do that if he didn't care about you," she added.
"Melissa's right, Miles Zandy won't risk his life just because he's afraid of your family if something happens to you," Andrea continued. "He did that for you, because no matter what, that person is concerned about you."
I faced them both. "Wait! Why are we talking about Zandy, huh? Do you think he likes me because of what he does to me?" I sighed and shook my head. "That's unlikely," I said seriously.
The two people next to me looked at each other. "It's so blurry, Miles can't it just be blurred?" Melissa said.
"Just! That's not going to happen, ok?" I continued to protest.
"What are you talking about that won't happen?"
We all looked at Chad who had just arrived from Sir Troy's office because he was called for the layout of the magazine design.
"You're not part of the conversation, Chad, so stop asking," Melissa said grumpily.
Chad snorted and sat in the chair, in front of his table. "Ok, fine," he said. "By the way, have you seen that beautiful girl in the building? She's one of those models from Paris that will be featured in the magazine. Great! She's so hot and so sexy. She's so precious and stunning, " Chad said, full of praise with a trace of desire in that woman.
I saw Melissa's eyebrows meet. "You're not a model so you're not fit for her. Since you're just living in the fantasy of beautiful and sexy women," she said annoyed. "Do you think a model from Paris will notice you?"
"Ouch! You're so hard on me, Melissa, what do you think of me? Do you think you're the only one who notices me? Oy! For your information, I have an ex-girlfriend who is a fashion model," he boasted, which was true. We have already heard that news.
"And who said I noticed you?" Melissa came back.
"Eh, why are you angry? You're jealous, right? You want me to tell you something beautiful, sexy, and hot," Chad said with a laugh.
Melissa took a breath while Andrea and I just watched the two fighting in front of us. We just shook our heads.
"Yuck! What you're saying is disgusting, Chad. Why would I feel jealous? You're not my type. You're not handsome," Melissa said directly.
The sadness appeared on Chad's face and what seemed to be pain there. He looked away from Melissa. "Ok, fine I know that," Chad said and I could feel his sadness.
"Stop it, you two, you'll seem like a relationship if you fight," Andrea reprimanded while Melissa's face still showed annoyance.
I also couldn't help but think about the girl Chad was talking about. Maybe that's the girl I shared the elevator with. She is very beautiful and very sexy. "What's the name of the girl you're talking about, Chad?" I don't know if I should ask that but something is prompting me to ask it.
Chad looked at me seriously. "Name? Wait, I heard her name...B-Be...Beverly, right, her name is Beverly," Chad answered.
I didn't know how I would feel when I heard that familiar name. I was speechless. There's something in me that I can't explain. I suddenly remembered the name that Zandy mentioned when he was drunk and the name Aunt Mandy told me that Zandy's ex was saying.
"B-Beverly?"

"Did you know a cute athlete took my number while I was covering the Olympics," Andrea said excitedly and happily as we left the building. Andrea is busy with the coverage of the Olympics in the Philippines that will be featured in the publication.
"Ow? Are he really cute, Andrea or maybe he's just cute because your standards are too low," Melissa said laughing.
"You're very nice to me, Melissa, huh! My standards are not low, I just appreciated his look," explained Andrea. "Also, he's really cute especially when he plays badminton and hits the ball." The excitement in Andrea's appearance is still obvious.
"Oh! Just find someone ugly and you will not be replaced," I replied bitterly.
"Times are different now, Miles, whether you're ugly or not, you're both a cheater, aren't you, Chad?" Melissa said seriously that I thought she was going through something.
"Huh? Why me? I'm not a cheater," Chad said in shock.
Melissa just blinked. We just kept going until we got out of the building. Andrea continues to talk about her experience while covering the Olympics.
"Miles."
I stopped walking when I heard Zandy's voice. I turned around to where he is, on the side of the building, near the parking lot. His car was there behind him. Zandy's face was serious.
"Zandy?" Melissa and Andrea said almost at the same time, still shaking.
I would have ignored him and just let it go but Zandy approached us. He immediately smiled at my companions.
"Are you going to pick up Miles, Zandy?" Andrea asked with a wide smile.
"Yeah! I'm scared that she might drink again and tell me about my bum while squeezing my cheek," Zandy answered with a smile.
My eyes widened at what he said. What did he mean when I said he was happy? Did I say that? My cheeks felt hot because of that. Especially when I heard Melissa and Andrea seemingly thrilled reaction.
"You're crazy, Zandy. I never said it to you and I'll never say it," I said annoyed but the truth is I don't know what I feel. There is a tickle inside me.
"Well, if you're drunk, Miles, you forget what you said and did, but I still remember when you said, 'Why are you so handsome even when you're angry?'" Zandy continued and smiled.
"Yieh! Am I the only one who likes it?" Melissa said.
"Of course, I do too," Andrea seconded.
"Zandy, stop playing around, ok? I don't have time to play around," I said gruffly. I still remember what he did and I am angry. I'm disgusted. But the truth is, my heart softens every time he smiles and I see his handsome face.
I walked and went straight to the parking lot where my car was. I didn't even say goodbye to my coworkers. When I got to my car, I quickly took out my keys, and just as I was about to open it, I felt Zandy's hand grab my arm.
"You can't use your car, Miles looks at the tire," he said and pointed to it.
I withdrew my hand from him as if it was burnt. I hit my forehead. Why now? My car's tires were fine a while ago.
"You know, Zandy? Ever since you came into my life, I've been unlucky," I said. My car got a flat tire twice as often every time Zandy was there and offered a ride.
Zandy was speechless when he heard from me. He just looked at me seriously. I don't know if the emotions I see on his face are correct, but there is sadness and pain there.
"You think I'm unlucky in your life, Miles?" he smiled bitterly. "I would ask our family for our annulment if that's how you think about me."
I am the speechless one. Annulment? I should be happy with what I heard but why can't I be happy if I don't feel sad for reasons I don't know? I also felt guilty about what I said.
"Zandy—"
"Let's go, Miles, let's go home. I'll give you a ride," he said seriously and walked towards his car. I was left dumbfounded as I looked behind him as he walked away.
I can't get the annulment out of my mind that he said that I used to want to happen but now, I don't know anymore. I'm not happy anymore when I hear that.
I followed him and quietly got into his car. It started and silence reigned over us until we reached the house.
I quietly got out of the car and Zandy followed. I feel a strange tension between us. He didn't pay attention to me either. He went straight inside.
When he was about to go up the stairs I stopped him. "Z-Zandy, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it." I saw him stop walking but he didn't look at me.Download Novelah App
