Chapter 20 Betrayal

Terra's PoV
I could not get my eyes away from the woman before me as I was watching her enduring the pain she felt from the injury I gave her. Celeste gave her aid and she barely breathe alive as she dared to scream while fighting for the sting.
"Maaari bang maging maingat ka? Pakiramdam ko'y maaagawan ako ng buhay dahil rito," I heard her complain while throwing her glares at Celeste Guerra who was silently curing her wound.
"Hindi mo gugustuhin mag reklamo pa kung ididiin ko ito sa sugat mo," Celeste soon replied to her and I feel so out of place. I momentarily shifted my gaze and glanced in the other direction, I found Sam Williams at the corner with his face being buried on his knees. He hates the view, he doesn't want to see any blood at all. It temps him to suck fresh drops of blood.
Tss, vampires can be scary sometimes because most of them don't understand self-control. Sam was cursed, his entire family was cursed and I could not even believe that I am his long-lost cousin. I was thinking deeply about it and I don't want to believe him, yet sooner I realized that the maze I am in is getting wider and deeper. I don't know where to go and I don't know who to believe anymore.
Lorelei disappear and I haven't heard any news from her, Ezekiel was stuck in the dungeon and I could not guess his current situation, I know that they shall soon steal his life and until now it is bothering me. I, too perceived that Thrille on the other hand was occupied going to and fro around the mortal realm. And my father? I miss him so much. I could not wait any longer to see him once again.
The situation I am in right now makes me overthink, why am I in here in the very first place? Why did I let these strangers fool me? I should have let everything get back to its place. I should have stayed with my father and obeyed him. The Ambers must have done something else to fix this mess. I should have permitted the Prince to marry me and live a life that was destined to happen.
I can still help the entire kingdom and protect the people if I agreed with the marriage and become a Princess.
"What a dumb thought you got there, Terra," I mumbled to myself and sighed. I admit I had enough with all the exhausting journey. I want to go home and sleep for the rest of the day.
"What a tough moment you are withstanding, woman." I heard Sam speak as he was referring to me. He probably heard my thought but I simply shrugged off and ignored him.
I placed my glares to the women before me and speak, "Cachet Memphis," I called out. She turned her head in my direction and stares back at me.
"What made you cross the borders?" I directly asked her which made her feel uneasy. She was hesitating to respond and this time she could not look straight into my eyes.
"I am waiting for your answer," I calmly uttered. I noticed how Celeste glances at me and I only ignored her.
"Speak now," I retorted and she simply gulped before she eventually cleared her throat to answer me.
"The territory where I live was just a 2 days journey from here, I never had a chance to explore outside the borders and so that's what I eventually did." Her voice was stuttering as she speak and I could sense her anxiety, "Unfortunately, I forgot the way out of the forest, and the wolves chased me. I ended up being stuck in this woodland," she continued as she tries to convince me.
It somewhat didn't persuade me yet I still force a smile at her before I could finally stand up and shakes hand with her. "Alright, I am quite sure you want to go back home. We will gladly assist you, only if you answer my question." And her countenance shifted, anxious she was.
"Mayhap she knows nothing, Terra." I heard Sam utter, I glance at him before placing back my sight to the lady I just encountered lately.
"... What is it that you desire to know?" Cachet questioned and I smiled at her.
"Have you heard of the name Thrille Daven? He is one of the princes who domain the underworld, have you seen him?" I throw her that question and I feel so numb, why did I even ask for his whereabouts? Yet we however need to find him as soon as possible. We could not reach the celestial due to the filthiness we possessed. Thrille is the only way we have for now.
"... I haven't heard much of him. Why is it? Who is he?" She appears so naive, I breathe heavily before glancing at my companions. Sam merely shrugged off while Celeste gave me a fierce look.
"Nothing, he is a disastrous man, be careful on your way."
"He is?" She once more query and I just nodded.
"Don't urge yourself too much, you shall soon find your lover." I throw a glare at Celeste's whereabouts upon hearing her phrase, she barely chuckled yet the lady, Cachet give her laughter.
"Ah, siya pala ang minamahal mo?" She laughed once more and I felt so puzzled upon her statement. What is she saying?
"I gave notice, Memphis. Speak our tongue," I dictated and glared at her. I saw how Celeste shows off her wide smile while Sam on the corner simply shook off his head.
"Unbelievable," I whispered and let my shoulder down.
A murky hall greeted his sight as noises of water drops commenced to echoed in the four corners of the place. The smell of rusty chains are becoming strong and the groaning of the prisoners could be heard amidst the silent air.
"What have you found, Captain?" One of the troops questioned as they found a man bathed with his blood. Captain Theodore smirks as he throws a sword on the frigid floor. His soldiers gazed at him as he walks near the dying man.
"This traitor attempted to assist Ezekiel Harold to exit, what a shame to think that I caught him on guard." The other men could not stand to see the open wounds of the poor victim yet they fear the captain.
"End his life, I dislike such a manner." The wholeness of his phrase filled the four corners of the room and it echoed. His men stood straight and respond to agreed on. They deliberately pulled the body as one of them tugged the sword from the floor.
"What remorse you got there, Captain. You despised such behavior yet you too are one of them," Theodore Elliot froze on his feet upon hearing a familiar voice. It was his favourite junior, Sage Williams.
Her wide smiles are plastered on her face and her eyes were fiercely darted on him. "Where have you been, Sage? The entire camp was looking for you," the captain came closer to her, and her grin appears unusual.
"My apologies, captain Theodore. I was immersed in the chaos in the mountains, sir. The farmers are troubled by the sudden decrease of their produce, they could not gain any revenue for the townsmen are cursed slumbering." Sage reported as she makes every word of her convincing, sufficient to satisfy her captain.
"What? Did the king infer about this?" He suspected, yet the servant shook her head.
"I refuse to tell it before the king and queen, what should we do about it, captain?" Her voice was as soft as how the petals of dandelions were. She is filled with lies. She glanced at the cell and behold the man whom she recognized as Terra's friend, Ezekiel Harold.
She let go of a smile and clenched the board of the dagger behind her, she normally came closer to his direction and speak once more. "I thought you'd be hanging him at the gallows, what takes you so long captain?" She slowly slit her arm at the cell to reach out for the bar, she used a thinner metal similar to a key and pinned it on the lock.
She heard a minor click and her smile went even wider. She lightly turned her head to look at Ezekiel's location and she whispered 'come out,' about his escape and to never return. "The prince hasn't requested for it, I shall be waiting for his order." Captain Theodore could not replace his loyalty, he knows the life of his daughter is in danger, he knows Ezekiel is a friend of his beloved offspring. Yet still, he aims for a higher position, he aims for wealth and possession. He wanted to be respected, and his current role doesn't satisfy him.
"It would be nice to end your life ahead of him, don't you think Captain?" Her eyes were filled with hatred, and her vengeful spirit triggers her to thrust the dagger towards the man whom she ever trusted once.
Yet before the edge of the knife touches his flesh, Ezekiel Harold slammed the cell door with full force and it dashed into Sage William's direction. He pushed the captain away and he dropped on the floor, the woman gritted her teeth in annoyance and before the troops could come near them, she ran onward and darted the dagger on Harold's chest. It pricked even deeper onto his flesh and she was not satisfied with the crime. She withdraws the sharp edge and thrust it once again on him.
The dungeon is filled with turmoil as everybody flew to rescue the prisoner, the predator hastily ran for her life and they could not catch her. Theodore Elliot clenches his fist in terrific anger, "Prepare the watchmen, guard the entire borders and search for Sage Williams. I want her dead!" Due to his outburst, he clenched his fist as he gritted his teeth, "I abhor traitors," He asserted in resentment.
Meanwhile, at the Palace. Prince Gohan stood before the cursed woman and as their stares met, he simply smirks. "We have agreed on this, Constance. I want Terra to fall in love with me, and I need you to seal that love potion and bring it to me." The prince asserted and the woman merely tapped his shoulder as she leans on onto the wall.
"... You shall certainly have my words, your majesty. I shall worsen the widespread catastrophe and Terra shall be in danger, rescue her life or it will be too late for you to do so." She momentarily paused and glanced at the window, admiring the full moon. "Invite her for a cup of tea and have one drop of the potion, let her drink it, and it shall be done. She will fall head over heel on you, my prince."
The Prince nodded, heeding the witch's instruction. "I owe you this one, Constance," he muttered yet Constance let an alluring smile break out from her edges.
"You know afore how I feel towards you, my prince," she retorted and let her hands travel up to his chest, her dirty fingers cupped his face and she was about to kiss him yet prince Gohan Ambers averted her move. He lightly turned his face sideways and wheezed. He never likes the jinx, he never trusted her, instead, he was precisely using her for his pleasures.
"... You only know as well that I am doing this for you because I love you," she uttered and stepped aback.
"It is reasonably unbearable to witness my beloved, begging for somebody else's love." Constance momentarily paused and glanced at his irises, "You don't know how my soul mourned with regrets, believing that one day you would be mine," She continued and foremost, he shifted his gaze from her.
Constance left the hall, with a bitter soul. "There are many aspects to destroy Terra Elliot without compelling it to be noticeable," she whispered to herself as she let the spirit of hostility devour her soul.
