Chapter 10 THE UNEXPECTED MURDERER

Pandy and Do-Hyun were still interrogating Gideon, trying to extract more information about Louisa's plans. But Gideon was reluctant to talk, he seem be keeping more than he had given out.
"I don't know anything else," he insisted. “ I've told you all I know about this.”
As the interrogation went on, Do-Hyun received a called. “ She'd been apprehended...Lousia is in the next room with Livvy and Randolph at the moment.”
Hearing this, Pandy noticed Gideon's nervous yet disappointed gaze. He knew it was time to come clean with the truth of what really happened that faithful night.
Pandy immediately took the opportunity to strick. She leaned in, her eyes locked on Gideon's. "We know you're hiding something," she said. "Tell us the truth, and we might be able to offer you protection."
Gideon hesitated, then spoke in a barely audible whisper. " It was an accident. We didn't mean to kill Fredrick...” He began and Pandy's heart raced, she exchanged a glance with Do-Hyun. This was the break they needed. They quickly relayed the information to Livvy and Randolph.
Polite and professional, Livvy and Randolph entered the interrogation room where Louisa was seated, her hands cuffed to the table. Livvy's eyes locked onto Louisa's, her voice firm but controlled. "Louisa, we know what happened. We have evidence, and Gideon has already confessed his role. It's time to tell the truth."
Louisa's eyes darted between Livvy and Randolph, a mix of fear and resignation on her face. Her gaze instinctively dropped, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
"I...I didn't mean to," Louisa stammered. "It was an accident. He wanted a divorce which I wasn't willing. The argument went on further and I pulled out the gun.” She sobbed.
“I just threatened, that I'll kill myself if he insists on his decision but he managed to get hold of the gun as well~ we struggled over it and...and I shot him. I didn't mean to pull the trigger."
Randolph leaned forward, his expression grim yet empathetic. "What happened next, Louisa? Why didn't you call for help?"
Louisa's voice cracked. "I was scared. I didn't know what to do. That's when Gideon popped into the room after hearing the shot.”
“ And so you let him talk you into covering it up?" Livvy briefly added. Louisa nodded, tears streaming down her face.
“ He said he would take care of it. He told me he would help me, that we would get through it together."
Livvy's eyes narrowed. "And you trusted him?"Lousia just nodded in tears.
In a firm voice, Randolph further accused. "But it wasn't an accident, Louisa. You had a gun in your hand, and you pulled the trigger. That's not an accident."
Louisa's body shook as she sobbed, the truth finally out. "I know. I know it was my fault. I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry for what I did."
Livvy's voice was stern. "Sorry isn't enough, Louisa. You need to face the consequences of your actions."
Randolph's voice was gentle. "Why did you stay silent after the body was found, Louisa? Why didn't you come forward when you had the chance?"
Louisa's shoulders shook as she sobbed. "I was afraid of what would happen. I was afraid of losing everything. But most of all, I was afraid of myself. I didn't know how to face what I had done."
Livvy and Randolph exchanged a glance, their expressions somber. They had heard the truth. The interrogation finally came to a close, sealing the case with Louisa's confession and now it was time for justice to be served.
As they were about to step out, Lousia held unto Livvy's hand, which made her spun back to her, along with Randolph who halted in his tracks as well. Livvy's expression was somber as she watched Louisa break down in tears. "Please, you have to promise me...don't let our children know I'm the one who...who killed their father. I couldn't bear it if they knew."
Randolph's voice was firm. "Louisa, we can't make promises like that. The truth will come out, and your children will likely find out what happened."
But Louisa's pleas were too late. The news of her arrest and involvement in her husband's murder had already spread like wildfire, and the media was having a field day.
As the detectives left the interrogation room, they knew that Louisa's children would soon learn the devastating truth. The family's lives would never be the same, and the consequences of Louisa's actions would be felt for years to come.
Meanwhile, the news report played on TV, the anchor's voice solemn. "Breaking news: Louisa, the wife of slain businessman Fredrick, has been arrested and charged with his murder. Sources close to the investigation confirm that Louisa's affair with Gideon, a former employee, led to the tragic events..."
The TV screen flickered, showing a photo of Louisa and Gideon. Her family fate suddenly turned dark ~now facing a future without their father, and with a mother behind bars for his murder. The news report ended, but the impact of Louisa's actions would be felt forever. . . .
Phinel, Berta and Dan were staying over at their grandmother's place as Lousia had taken them there earlier so she could plan her escape plan and hide the truth from them.
They were in the sitting room when the news hit the screen. Phinel, the older one stared up at her grandmother, who seemed lost in confusion as well.
“ What is going on granny....why is mummy's picture on the screen as the one behind father's death?”
Her gaze just remained fixed on the TV screen, her expression a mix of shock and sadness. She didn't answer Phinel's question, unable to find the words.
Berta, the youngest, looked up from her coloring book, sensing the tension in the room. "Granny, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice trembling.
After a long while, she slowly turned to face them, her eyes brimming with tears. "It's about your mother, kids," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "She's...she's been arrested."
Dan, the middle child, frowned. "What do you mean? Why would Mom be arrested?"
Granny took a deep breath before speaking, her words spilling out in a rush. "She's been accused of...of killing your father. Oh, kids, I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say."
The room fell silent, the only sound the children's ragged breathing. Phinel's eyes widened in disbelief, Berta began to cry, and Dan's face turned red with anger.
"No, that's not true!" Dan shouted, slamming his fist on the coffee table. "Mom would never do that!"
Granny rushed to comfort her grandchildren, holding them close as they struggled to comprehend the devastating news. The TV continued to broadcast the news, but their grandmother tuned it out, lost in their own shock and grief.
