Chapter 1 Mega dragon returns

"Wow! Oh ho! Perfect! The mega dragon is back!" Someone in the forest spotted the dragon flying around.
"Wow, that's incredible," another person beside him exclaimed as they all watched the dragon. However, their mood changed instantly when they saw a child sitting and riding the dragon in the sky.
"Athena, did you see that?" the other person asked, and Athena nodded.
"We must report this to the king before it's too late," Athena suggested. They both headed to the king's palace to deliver their report as the king's scouts.
Athena and Mark were best friends and worked for the king of KingsHeaven. They went around scouting and bringing information to the king. They were also skilled warriors and fought in wars.
On their way to the palace, they noticed that a huge celebration was already taking place with a massive crowd.
"Athena, it seems like the news has reached the king faster than us," Mark said, and Athena nodded in agreement.
"Of course, the king has his own eyes, and so do the people. They must have seen the dragon, but I don't think they saw the boy on top of the dragon," Athena replied.
Mark scanned the area, hoping to find a way to reach the king, but Athena tapped him on the shoulder.
"Look up there," Athena said, and Mark followed her gaze. The king had appeared on the second floor of his mansion to address the people.
As soon as the king stepped out, silence fell over the crowd. Everyone was excited to hear the king's speech.
"As we all know, it is I, King Jerome Akuza, the great king of KingsHeaven, who has called this meeting on behalf of my son, Tennyson Akuza," the king announced, capturing everyone's attention.
"As we all know, it almost felt like our great kingdom had fallen since the departure of the mega dragon. Neither I nor my son could go to war as we used to," Jerome said, looking at Tennyson who smiled back at him.
"But thanks to the gods who have decided to bring back our dragon!" King Jerome exclaimed, which was met with cheers of joy from the crowd.
"But unfortunately..." Jerome began, and the crowd fell silent once again.
"Numerous reports have come in stating that a young boy was seen giving orders to the King's dragon! As you all know, this has serious consequences!"
"Such an event has only occurred once in the history of KingsHeaven, where the mega dragon submitted to an ordinary man, but... the man was executed with the help of magic that helped to distract the dragon," Jerome explained.
"And with that same help of magic the dragon was eventually brought under the control of the king, but now we face a similar issue, as rumors suggest that this little boy, the son of Oma!" Jerome pointed to his right side.
The guards then brought in Oma and her son, Mezie who had handcuffs on their hands, and the people in the crowd jeered and mocked them as they were pushed into the public square.
"This boy here was the one riding the King's dragon! He showed no fear! And I'm afraid history might repeat itself, for he shall be sentenced to death by being burned alive," Jerome declared, but this time, the crowd remained silent.
"Seize him! He will be executed tomorrow morning," Jerome ordered.
It was truly unsettling to see an 11-year-old child being sentenced to such a gruesome death by the king. Were there no other forms of punishment?
As soon as the statement was made, Oma began to cry as she held onto her son. Mezie, still a young boy, did not fully comprehend the situation and did not cry as intensely.
But the guards forcefully tried to separate Mezie from his mother, causing her to cry even louder.
"Please, I beg of you, let my son go! He hasn't done anything wrong!" Oma wept bitterly, still holding onto Mezie.
However, the guards pushed her away and continued dragging Mezie away from her, which only made Mezie cry even harder.
"Mummy! Mummy!" he called out repeatedly, tears streaming down his face, but he was already being dragged away from his mum.
"No! Let my son go! It's all lies! He wasn't the one! How can a young child like him face the mega dragon?" Oma cried desperately, catching the king's attention.
"Stop!" Jerome commanded the guards who were taking Mezie away, then he turned to look at Oma.
"So, you're saying that your king and the people are lying?" he asked, and Oma nodded tearfully. Jerome then looked up at the crowd.
"You all heard her, she just accused your king of lying," Jerome said, and the people watched the unfolding drama in silence.
"In that case, I will let her go!" Jerome declared, causing surprise among the crowd, as he had never before renounced judgement on anyone.
He signaled to the guards, "Release him!" he commanded, and they let go of Mezie. The boy quickly rushed to his mother, and they embraced each other tightly.
"It's alright, my boy. There's nothing to be afraid of," Oma whispered to him in a soft voice.
"You see, I let the woman go for calling your king a liar, but once we have evidence that it was truly her son who was with the dragon..." Jerome's voice trailed off. The crowd grew silent, eagerly waiting to hear what he had to say.
Even Oma looked up at him, tears still streaming down her face, knowing that the outcome might not be favorable.
"Then she and her son will be burned to ashes. That's my judgement," Jerome declared firmly, before leaving. The other members of the royalty joined him, and the people dispersed.
Athena and Mark glanced back at Oma before turning away and walking off.
Oma and Mezie were left alone, with no one to offer them comfort. Oma held Mezie tightly and kissed him on the cheeks. "Mum, were they really going to kill me for riding the dragon?" Mezie asked, causing his mother to cover his mouth.
"Mezie, keep those words for a safe place. But trust me, nothing will happen to you. I will make sure to get you to safety. Now, let's go home," Oma said, kissing him on the cheeks once again.
"Come, my boy," she said, lifting him into her arms as they left the king's palace and headed towards their small hut.
It had been years since the mighty mega dragon departed from the kingdom of KingsHeaven.
KingsHeaven, a realm where various types of dragons resided and thrived.
Anyway, the mega dragon had left the Kingdom several years ago and never returned, and nobody knew the reason behind its departure. It was a dragon meant exclusively for kings, providing them with protection in times of war. None of the kings who used the dragon in battle had ever perished, thanks to the dragon's unwavering commitment to ensure their safety.
But since the dragon's sudden exit, the current King Akuza had refrained from going to war out of fear of death.
However, the situation had changed for him now. It was his son, Tennyson, who would lead the armies of KingsHeaven in the battles that lay ahead, in order to prove himself worthy to be the heir of the throne.
As for the dragon, it had chosen to return and serve only those with pure hearts. It no longer desired to work for the kings, especially after its chosen one had been unjustly executed a decade ago.
Unfortunately, this burden fell upon Oma, a widow who had only one child. She knew that the king would soon discover the truth - that it was her son Mezie who soared through the city with the dragon.
Upon reaching their humble abode, Oma began to pack Mezie's belongings. She knew he would have to leave very soon.
"Mother, what are you doing? Why are you packing my things?" Mezie asked, puzzled by his mother's actions.
"Mezie, I am not simply packing your belongings. I am putting some of your clothes in a bag because you are leaving to Seldom immediately," Oma explained to him.
"But, Mum..." Mezie tried to talk, yet Oma interrupted him. "There is no 'but'! You must go!" she exclaimed in frustration.
She felt guilty, seeing the emotional expression on Mezie's face. She approached him and gently touched his cheeks.
"Mezie, if they find out that you were the one with the dragon, something terrible could happen to you. I would never forgive myself if any harm come to you. Kingdom of Seldom will be the safest place for you, at least for now," Oma said, opening a small box on the table and retrieving something like a white later.
"When you arrive in Seldom, look for Mazi. Give him this and he will protect you," Oma said, placing the letter in a small bag and closed the bag.
She helped Mezie to wear the bag on his back. "Come on, it's time for you to go," Oma said, attempting to guide him outside, but Mezie resisted.
"No, Mom, I can't leave you here! Please come with me. I don't want to leave you," Mezie pleaded, fear evident in his eyes. Oma took a deep breath.
"Don't worry, Mezie. I will join you as soon as this issue is resolved. For now, you must go. Don't worry about me, I'll be okay, understand?" Oma assured him, tears streaming down her face.
Suddenly, there was a knock at her door. Oma looked at the door suspiciously, knowing that it must be the guards who were sent to take Mezie to the king.
She quickly checked and found that it was indeed them. Rushing to Mezie, she whispered urgently, "They're here, Mezie. You need to go now."
"But Mom, I don't even know the way to Seldom," Mezie confessed, as the guards continued knocking on the door.
"Simply call upon the dragon to take you there, alright?" Oma suggested and Mezie nodding in reassurance. "Mom, I'll miss you," Mezie said, as Oma hugged him tightly once again.
"I'll miss you too, my pride! Now, it's time for you to go," Oma affirmed and opened the back window and carried Mezie over the window.
And Before he left, she offered him some final words of advice.
"Mezie, please don't repeat the mistakes you made here by not following my instructions. In Seldom, dragons are strictly prohibited, and anyone found with one will be killed. Make sure to keep your dragon far away from Seldom before continuing on foot, okay?" Oma instructed, her voice filled with concern
"And finally, please Mezie do not rest untill reach Seldom, do not get distracted by anything" she added. Mezie nodded and then she dropped him over and just in the guards broke down the door.
"Where is your son!?" Tennyson, the leader of the guards, demanded.
"My prince, I assumed he would be at your palace. I left him there," Oma replied. And Without a word Tennyson turned his back on her and started to walk away.
"Seize her! She's nothing but a liar!" Tennyson commanded, and the guards immediately seized Oma, pushing her to follow Tennyson.
