Chapter 2 The Curse

Other dragons were seen roaming in the sky, about five of them flying all around the Palace. The palace was big enough to contain everyone, and it is where most big carnivals take place at a field named Hell of KingsHeaven.
Anyways, the king was on his throne when Oma was dragged into his presence and pushed down.
"Ugh!" She screamed in pain as her knee hit the ground. Tears streamed down her face as she cried bitterly, facing down.
Just then, Tennyson walked into the hall. "Dad, she has hidden her son," he said to Jerome.
"You have done well, my son. Allow me to pass my judgement," Jerome said to Tennyson. The room fell silent, waiting to hear what he had to say.
Jerome stood and approached Oma. "Where is your son, woman? I will spare you from burning in the fire, but you will die by having your head cut off."
"Or do you want to stay alive and watch yourself perish in a burning fire!" King Jerome said as Oma looked at him, her eyes filled with tears.
"I have studied you and your actions, you are a threat to your people, and all I can say is that you are nowhere close to being a king!" Oma said with a sad voice, shocking Jerome.
No one else had ever spoken to him this way, as everyone was afraid to die and lacked the courage. After Oma made that statement, she shook her head slowly. "What kind of king kills his own people, making their lives worthless?"
"You killed my first son because they lied against him, accusing him of stealing what he didn't steal!" Oma said, and King Jerome immediately interrupted with a harsh voice.
"The things they said he stole were found inside his bag!" King Jerome responded.
"And how did they find out and knew all the things he had stolen? Are they sponsors or something? But you killed him! And you also killed his father who tried to protect him!"
"And now, the only thing I have on earth, my beginning and end, my only child, you're still trying to kill him again!?" She said, tears streaming down her face like a river.
"Today I curse you, King Jerome Akuza. Even if you have the biggest dragon and all the dragons on earth for yourself, you will never win a war until your enemies take over your kingdom," she concluded, spitting on him.
This shocked him, and he stared at her in disbelief. She really had the courage to do that. Tennyson also looked at her, his eyes wide open.
Then Jerome turned his back on her for a few seconds. "Take this woman away and burn her alive," he ordered, and the guards grabbed her and took her away.
"You will suffer, King Jerome!" Oma shouted as they dragged her away.
"Tennyson, stay behind," Jerome commanded, as Tennyson was about to join the guards and leave.
Then Tennyson stepped backwards. "Yes, father," Tennyson said, and Jerome turned to face him.
"Make sure that the woman is executed by burning," Jerome said, and Tennyson bowed before him.
"Yes, father," Tennyson said, and he was about to leave the hall when Jerome interrupted again.
"And after that," Jerome said, and Tennyson paused and turned to look at him. "Take the guards with you and go look for that boy."
"You can take three dragons with you since he has the mega one," Jerome said, and Tennyson moved closer to him, looking furious.
"Dad, come on! I haven't been given what I need to start a war against anyone," Tennyson said.
"And what you need is what you will have to fight for! No one else will do it for you! Do as I say, my orders stand," King Jerome said and left the hall.
Tennyson stood there for a moment and then left the hall too.
★★★
After about an hour, everything was ready for Oma to be burned alive.
From her cage, she could clearly see the preparations. She was locked up in a place where she could witness the arrangement.
The firewood they had gathered for her made her tear flow like a river. She thought about how she would endure the pain before her death.
After observing the preparations, she sat on the floor and wept steadily. There was no possible way for her to escape. She must to go through with it even if not for the case of her son but only for insulting the king.
Suddenly, a noise came from the gate of her cage as she faced away. The tension in her body made her turn forcefully, and it was the expected people.
The guards had come to take her to her place of execution. Immediately, the bell rang, signaling the gathering at the Palace.
They unlocked the cage, dragged her out of the cell, and pushed her into the public space where King Jerome would pass his final judgment.
As they led her out, the people bullied her, throwing stones and other sharp objects at her.
She looked up at Jerome, who stood on the second floor with tears in her eyes. She shook her head and looked down.
"Tie her to the wood!" Jerome ordered, and they did as he said. Oma cried out loudly, but no one cared about her.
They bound her tightly on the wood in a manner that prevented her from escaping.
"Hear me, sons and daughters of KingHeaven. This woman has been deemed guilty of riding the King's Dragon," announced Jerome, as a silence fell over the crowd.
This was the usual scene whenever King Jerome addresses his people.
"Consider this a warning to all of you, and to our future generations. If the dragon chooses you, you must report it to the king," he continued.
"We must take appropriate action, as there have been instances when the dragons have made wrong choices. With the help of our sorcerers, these choices can be rectified!" Jerome concluded looking at the crowd.
"As a merciful king, I offer this woman two types of death for her abomination," the people's gaze shifted to Oma.
"However, you must reveal the whereabouts of your son!" the king demanded. But Oma did not entertain the thought for a moment, she has already made up her mind to die for her sun to live.
With tears in her eyes, she looked up at the king and then scanned through the crowd. Her eyes fell upon a young boy at the front, hiding his face behind a wrapper.
"What...!!? Mezie!" she exclaimed, barely audible, discovering that her own son had returned to KingsHeaven even after all her warning.
As panic surged through her, she struggled to convey to him the urgency of escaping. But She could only shake her head and cry.
"No! Mezie always stubborn, No! No!" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper, as she observed Mezie's labored breathing and the sorrow etched on his face.
"Very well. Since she has nothing to say, she shall die!" King Jerome declared. Almost immediately, one of the dragons that circled above the palace descended, ready to set her ablaze.
Then Tennyson stepped forward, folding his hands as he sought his father's approval with a nod.
As tears threatened to spill, Mezie trembled and struggled to breathe. The weight of the moment was so intense that even anyone could notice him and that's why Oma was afraid that they may catch him.
King Jerome nodded at Tennyson, who then turned to face the Dragon. Oma kept her eyes fixed on her son, crying.
"Sahgphary!" Tennyson commanded the Dragon in a magical language, and suddenly the dragon burned Oma and the firewood with fire.
"Ahhh!" Oma's voice was heard once before it was drowned out by the inferior. She was consumed by fire.
While Mezie began breathing very heavily as tears streamed down his face and his breathing grew heavier, Mezie started to lose consciousness. Trembling, he turned to walk away, but Athena had already spotted him.
"Mark! That's Oma's son!" Athena alerted Mark, turning his attention to the young boy that was walking away shaking in fear.
"What...?" Mark questioned in disbelief.
