Chapter 66 Misunderstanding

Sun Hee and Dong-sun had been reading for 2 hours, but Dong-sun still could not comprehend the contents of the book. He was paying attention to her facial expressions. Her face lit up whenever she discovered something interesting in the book. When it's hilarious, she smiles, when it's puzzling, she crosses her brows, and when it's sad, she cries. The different emotions she evoked in a single text astounded him. Dong-sun wished for the same thing—to feel something.
"Sun Hee, I'd like to continue my new hobby of staring at your face, but I think we need to step out," he said.
"What?"
"Lots of people are coming inside. It is not a good idea for us to be seen together."
"I mean about your hobby..."
"Oh, that. Pretend you didn't hear it. Let's go."
They were about to stand up when someone called Sun Hee. Da Eun and Eun Ji greeted her with wide smiles.
"Hey, Sun Hee. We haven't gotten together since last month!" Da Eun said. Dong-sun lowered his cap to cover his face. "Hi. What a coincidence. Are you here to read a book?"
"We are looking for children's books for our kids," Eun Ji replied.
"Oh, that's cute." Sun Hee faked a smile. "Don't tell me you're still single? Are you even real?"
"Let's not expect for her wedding. That will not happen."
Sun Hee placed the book on the table. "I have a boyfriend." Dong-sun cleared his throat. "Hi. I'm Park Saeroyi, her boyfriend." They looked at him with a hint of surprise, but Sun Hee was the most shocked.
"You look familiar."
"Hey, are you Yang Hajoon?"
Dong-sun put his finger on his lips and whispered, "Please keep this a secret."
"Omo. Really?"
Dong-sun glanced at his watch. "I'm sorry, but I have a meeting. We have to go." He held Sun Hee's hand and turned their back on them.
"Can you believe it?"
"I think they're just acquaintances."
"Why would he lie for her?"
"To save her? But that would ruin his career."
Dong-sun stopped at the corner and pinned her to the wall. Sun Hee gasped. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Relax. I don't bite people." His eyes were burning.
"I was referring to Youngsoo when I said I have a boyfriend. At least he can ignore it. I don't need you as an excuse."
As he tilted his head, Dong-sun moved 3 inches closer to her. "Just follow my lead," he said, his breath fresh and minty. Her companions were staring at them. Their mouths hung open and their jaws fell to the ground.
Meanwhile, Youngsoo and Mee Yoon were having their own 'sibling date.' The idea of going out with him disgusted her, but he forced her to unwind with him because they never tried hanging out together like normal siblings. They don't have the kind of attachment everyone was expecting.
Youngsoo thought that it was unfair for him to work all day long while Sun Hee was spending the best time of her life. Since he doesn't have a woman, Mee Yoon was the best option.
"Why don't you use dating apps and catch some ladies? Why do you have to wreck my plans today?" Mee Yoon ranted.
"You don't have plans today. Don't kid yourself," Youngsoo replied while driving.
"I bet you already lose your so-called charisma."
"Nonsense. I am every woman's dream." Mee Yoon rolled her eyes.
They entered the arcade and played with guns where they killed some zombies. Mee Yoon couldn't stop screaming every 10 seconds, while Youngsoo had an undisturbed focus.
"Let's have a bet to spice up the game," Mee Yoon said as they transferred to the basketball game. She loves playing basketball back in high school.
"If I win, you are going to stay out of my life forever," she said.
"If you lose you are going to do what I say."
"What? That's unfair."
"Sis, it's balanced. If I'm going to be a dead man in your eyes, then I'd rather stick around forever if I win."
"Fine. I won't let you win."
They began shooting the balls to the ring. Youngsoo was keeping up with Mee Yoon's score until they both reached 50 points. But Youngsoo was able to throw a shot in the last 20 seconds.
"I won. Too bad, I'm going to bug you for the rest of your life." He smirked. "Gosh!" Mee Yoon walked out and went to the photo booth. She grabbed some props such as a crown, and signage saying "I'm too good to be true."
She struck a pose as the camera flashed at a random pace. Youngsoo appeared with a fake mustache and blocked her view. The flashes were nonstop as she grabbed his hair and Youngsoo's face was comical.
"Hey, look at what you've done to my good-looking face!" he remarked as he held the images in his palm. "You will remember this day when I showed your true face," she said. He threw his arm around her neck and messed up her hair as she attempted, but failed to push him away.
They went to the claw machine to get some stuffed toys. Youngsoo was biting his lip as he maneuvered the machine and waited for the crane to grab some toys. It was his fifth trial, but he has got nothing. He slumped to the floor in devastation.
"Hey, how are you going to get a girlfriend when you can't even win this game?" Mee Yoon teased. It was her turn to control the claw. His eyes widened when she immediately got some toys one after another. "Hey! Are you cheating? How did you do that?" Mee Yoon shrugged. "It's my special talent."
"Share me your secret." Mee Yoon wrapped the toys in her arms and left him wondering.
They drove down the street to find a good place to eat.
"Oppa, stop the car here. Have you been to that bookstore? I heard they also offer snacks," Mee Yoon said in a cheerful voice. "I don't need a snack. I need an entire meal. Let's order some grilled pork and soju."
"But I want to check out some books," Mee Yoon said, her eyes sparkling as she pouted. "Is that your cute face? I thought you were grieving." Mee Yoon struck his shoulder and went out as soon as the car stopped. Youngsoo followed him.
The old-fashioned theme of the library stupefied her. The people were enjoying some books while having a bite of some delicacies. Youngsoo interrupted her amazement when he held her arm. "Detective Dan texted me. Let's find a restaurant first. We can come back later." Youngsoo's voice was low as if buried to the ground. Mee Yoon pulled her hand away and gazed at the corner. She froze at what caught her eyes. The back of a man was familiar to her.
"Let's go. Please," Youngsoo whispered. She took a step closer. The woman's hands slid around the man's waist. Mee Yoon knew her well, and the scandalous sight displeased her.
Dong-sun broke his tight proximity with Sun Hee and turned around to check if her friends were still watching them. But he met Mee Yoon's lifeless stare, lost in the waves of anxiety and doubt. Before he could speak, Youngsoo snatched her away from the suffocating scene. Dong-sun could only wish she had arrived sooner.
