15 - Darling

Myrtle's Point of View
This day is the last day of our honeymoon slash vacation. It kind of saddens me because I wanted to spend more time here. However, Sean is abruptly needed in their company.
"You sure you're going to come with me already? You can stay here for a few more days," Sean said as he wiped his wet hair. He just came out from the shower.
"No, I'll come home too," I replied.
It's going to be embarrassing if I stayed here alone. Well, in fact, I don't own this resort or anything here.
Everything is Sean's.
Sean sighed and looked at me. He looked apologetic.
"I'm really sorry we have to go back immediately. If you want, I can cancel my schedules and—"
"Don't worry about it, Sean. It's fine, and I'm fine. There's nothing you should worry about." I smiled at him.
He just nodded and smiled back at me.
For the last time, I gazed my eyes around the place and let myself drown in its beauty.
Once I get the chance to come back, I definitely will.
That was just three days away from the world. When we go back, I'll have to face a bigger problem.
To act and live as Sean's wife as we try to get his parents' favor of me.
There's little to no chance of them actually liking me, but I can't live a life being a wife whose husband's parents hate.
I hope mom gets well soon so the divorce will be as quickly as possible.
...
As we were driving back home, Sean looked a little agitated. I don't know why he felt that way, and I didn't want to bother him. I guess it's because of his work duties. Being a young CEO isn't a piece of cake, after all.
He kept driving. I expected him to say something, but our mouths were kept shut. After we made out last night, I can't believe he's not going to tell me anything.
I know I sound pathetic, but it's just infuriating.
Soon after, I guess he felt my emotions. He placed his right arm on my left thigh and slowly brushed his thumb on it.
I looked at him while his left hand kept driving. He looked hot, as always.
It was startling that I kept my eyes staring at his veiny hands on top of my shaking thigh.
He left out a big sigh. "Last night was the best night of my life," he uttered as his lips morphed into a smile.
I blushed. My negative emotions suddenly vanished just because of what he said.
"That was a contract violation. We shouldn't do it again," I responded sternly as I composed myself together. He must not sense that I'm feeling exhilarated.
He just chuckled.
I glared at him. His chuckle had this mischievous aura, and I didn't want it.
"Why are you glaring at me like that?" he asked.
"Why are you suddenly chuckling mischievously? What's on your mind?" I asked him back.
"You."
Woah, that was fast. I didn't see it coming.
I looked away because I felt awkward.
"Sean, do you really love me?" I asked him out of the blue.
He waited for me for eleven years. He mentioned he tried dating during those times, but none worked out.
Is Sean really serious about everything?
"Isn't it obvious? How many times should I repeat myself?" he said.
"Then that's another contract violation. It's the main rule in the contract!" I couldn't help but scream at him.
What's the essence of that contract if he keeps breaking the rules?
"Myrtle, even before that contract, I already love you. You can't do anything about it," he replied and looked at me.
Why is he so good at his words? Goodness!
To change the topic, I immediately asked him another question.
"Since you have a lot of money, do you think money can buy happiness?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because you're priceless."
Huh?
Did he just tell me a pick-up line?
WAS THAT A PICK-UP LINE? I JUST HEARD FROM MR. SEAN KALIX ACKERMAN?
"What are you talking about?" That was all I said.
"Of course, money buys happiness, but only on temporary things. You feel happy when you buy something you really want, you feel happy when you buy your loved one a gift, but money can't buy things that would last a lifetime," Sean explained like a philosopher.
I know what he's talking about. I lived a life as a farmer, and my family and I feel happy even if we lack money.
Money isn't everything.
That reminded me of something—my college!
"Hey, Sean! Since we're already married, does that mean I'll get to study Medicine?" My eyes widened in glee as I asked him that question.
I can't believe I actually forgot about it!
"Yes. I have already enrolled you in the best university. It's located near my place so you wouldn't have to travel far."
"Do we still have to stay in your condo?" I asked him.
"Why? Don't you want it there? I can tell the workers to make a new house for us," he said with no hints of a joke.
This man, I swear. I didn't tell him anything like that!
"N-no, it's not like that. I just want to make sure we'll live in your condo," I replied.
"Yeah. That condo is very important to me," he mumbled.
"Why?" I asked in curiosity.
He didn't respond.
Maybe it's something too personal. Never mind.
...
It was already evening when we came back home. Sean dropped me off at his condo's entrance and immediately left to go to his company.
I walked inside his condo feeling a little bit sad. Sean always works so hard for everything. He deserves to rest.
"Myrtle!" Lemon came running towards me with her arms open wide.
When I saw her, she wore cosplay attire and looked too cute.
But then, I suddenly remembered what she had done to me three days ago.
As she was about to hug me, I crossed my arms and gave her a death stare.
"Why did you put on those sexy clothes?" I asked her in an angry voice.
"Well, I'm sorry. I just wanted Sir Sean and you to—, you know—have a good time together?" She hesitated to speak.
I sighed. How could a fifteen-year-old know about those kinds of stuff? I didn't know about those things until I turned eighteen! To be honest, until now, I have no idea.
I was startled when Sean suddenly became too touchy while we were kissing.
"You're still too young, Lemon. You shouldn't be thinking about those things."
Lemon smiled at me and hugged me.
"I missed you," she muttered.
Hah, trying to change the subject, huh?
I hugged her back. "I missed you too," I replied.
...
Lemon and I spent the night watching her favorite drama. I didn't know she was really a fan of romance and fantasy. That's why she knows lots of stuff about love.
"That actor is handsome, isn't he?" She pointed at a man on the screen.
At first, I didn't see him clearly, but I was surprised when his face was utterly shown on screen.
"THAT'S YOHAN!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and pointed at him on the television.
I can't believe he debuted as an actor. Just when? I thought he was too busy in architecture school.
But yeah, he looked gorgeous.
"You know him?" Myrtle asked me.
"Yeah. He's a really good friend," I replied and munched some chocolate cookies.
"What, Yohan?"
Myrtle and I looked at the door where the voice came from.
Sean's home.
"Sir Sean!" Lemon ran towards Sean and hugged him.
Woah, Lemon is really clingy when she misses someone.
"Hello, Lemon. Are you doing fine while you were here alone?" Sean asked and patted Lemon's head gently.
"Yup. I've been playing with Rudolph. He kept me in good company," Lemon replied.
Oh, I haven't seen that cat for weeks.
"Where is he now?" Sean asked and removed his coat.
"He just left when Myrtle came back. I hope he comes back tomorrow," Lemon said and sat beside me.
"So, who was the Yohan you girls talked about a while ago. Was that your friend, Myrtle? The art guy?" Sean looked at me with siren, emotionless eyes. I felt the tension from his gaze.
"Y-yeah. He debuted as an actor. Lemon and I just saw him on TV," I replied.
Why was I feeling scared? There's nothing wrong with it. Yohan is just my friend.
Is Sean getting jealous again?
"Are you jealous?" I asked him.
He didn't reply.
"Hey!"
Still, he just ignored me and walked towards the room. I tried to run towards him since he was annoying me.
"Sean!"
He placed his pointer finger on my lips.
"Shh," he whispered.
"I'm not jealous. You're my wife. You're mine. Got that?" he said and smirked at me before going to his room.
I just stood frozen, still processing what he said.
"And by the way, if you call me by my name, I'll shut your mouth using my lips. I want you to call me 'darling,'" he said in a lower voice than usual.
It made my heart flutter like crazy.
Darling?
I don't see myself calling him that.
"Okay," I just said.
"Good night, darling," he said and finally went inside his room.
Still, our rooms are separated. I stay in the guest room. It's not a problem since all the rooms here are massive and pretty, including the maid's room.
"Yes, darling, huh? You're blushing, Myrtle," Lemon teased me and dodged my elbow.
"He was just joking."
THERE'S NO WAY I WILL CALL HIM THAT CRINGEY WORD!
Just NO!
