Chapter 84
After that, they discussed their next plan all night. They agreed on one thing: they would rescue Ella from the hospital and inject her with the new medicine that Beckett had developed to wake her up.
“I will distract Alfred and his men,” Beckett said, pointing to the right side of the footprint. “We will go here since Ella’s room is on the left side of the hospital. While we’re here, use the opportunity to escape with your mother.”
“But that’s dangerous.” Vivianne shook her head. “Alfred might have prepared for this and could have you killed in the hospital. He can easily do that. Believe me.”
“I believe you, but it doesn’t matter. What’s important for me right now is to save your mother and fulfill my promise to you…” Beckett kissed his wife’s forehead again. “So let’s do this… and see the end together.”
THE NEXT DAY, it was time to execute the plan. Beckett was already in the parking lot, along with the men who would pose as doctors, nurses, and janitors if anything went wrong.
He and Vivianne were in separate vehicles to split the attention of those monitoring their every move. However, Beckett also had his men keeping an eye on Vivianne.
He wouldn’t put his wife’s life in danger. Never again.
“Are you all done preparing?” Beckett asked his men, and they nodded. “Good, because we’re going to infiltrate the place in a minute.”
“Yes, Boss,” they all affirmed.
Beckett smiled, thinking everything was set. But as he was about to stand up and enter the hospital, one of his men hurriedly approached him, out of breath.
“Boss! Bad news!” Theo said, pointing towards the hospital building. “Ma’am Vivianne is already inside the hospital!”
Beckett stood up in shock, nearly dropping the silenced gun he was holding. “Damn it, didn’t I tell you to watch her closely? How did she get past you?”
“They thought they were still following Ma’am Vivianne, but it turns out they weren’t,” Theo explained, bowing in front of his boss. “Sorry, boss. We’ll find a way to get her out of there immediately.”
Beckett didn’t respond, but the anger and worry were clear in his eyes. He took his phone from his pocket and called Vivianne.
In less than five seconds, his wife answered the call. "You knew about it sooner than I expected. Your men are really good, aren’t they?"
“Vivianne, this wasn’t included in the plan we talked about yesterday,” Beckett said, massaging his forehead, trying to calm himself. “Get out of there while you still can, okay? You might be in danger if you stay there for too long.”
Vivianne sighed. “I know.”
“Then why did you go there, following the plan?”
“Because you can’t always be the one taking on the hardest parts of our plan.”
Vivianne blinked on the other end of the line, tears threatening to fall.
“I’m grateful to you, yes, but I can’t let you sacrifice your life again. You can’t always be the one saving me...” She took a deep breath, and her tears finally fell. “Just this time, let me minimize the risk of you dying because of me.”
“Vivianne…” Beckett called out her name.
He didn’t know what to say, and he couldn’t control the fear in his heart. He understood what Vivianne had done. She had put herself at risk so they could move freely without needing to fight.
“You can save me like you always do, but please... save my mom. Fulfill your promise to me, Beckett. Save her first before me…”
Those were Vivianne’s last words before she hung up. Beckett cursed repeatedly before calling his wife again, but she didn’t answer, and she eventually turned off her phone.
“Damn it!” Beckett threw his phone inside the car. “Everyone, listen up! We have a change of plans.”
MEANWHILE, Alfred already knew that Vivianne was in Ella’s room. One of his guards at the hospital had reported it and was asking if they should take Vivianne out immediately to bring her to their boss.
“No. Wait for her to come outside,” Alfred replied to his man’s question.
“Sir?”
“Let them be together for a while… since it will be the last time they’ll see each other in this world.” Alfred smirked before placing a hand on the table. “They will be with each other again, but in hell.”
Alfred ended the call. He was in his office at their warehouse, just waiting for the plan to align with his intentions.
“Do they really think I wouldn’t find out about their plan to rescue Ella from the hospital? Fools,” Alfred said, his grin widening. “They can never outsmart me because while they're just getting started, I’m already steps ahead.”
The most horrible thing that Vivianne did was to underestimate him. Alfred knew how Vivianne thought and he was certain she would prioritize saving Ella before launching a full attack.
So, he had already devised a plan. Once Alfred’s men captured Vivianne, they would immediately transfer Ella to another hospital, and even if Beckett and his men were there, they wouldn’t find Ella.
Because they’d be watching the wrong person. He had ordered one of his men to switch two patients.
“What a nice game, my daughter, but we need to end it,” Alfred whispered with a grin.
After a few minutes, there was a knock on his office door. His men from the hospital were there, and they brought Vivianne with her hands tied behind her back.
“Place her here,” Alfred said, pointing to the sofa. “She may be rebellious, but she’s still my daughter.”
“Wow, you still consider me your daughter?” Vivianne laughed sarcastically. “Unbelievable, really—”
Alfred suddenly drew a gun and fired a shot beside Vivianne, stopping her mid-sentence. She fell silent and turned pale.
“You act like you don’t care anymore, but you’re afraid,” Alfred whispered in a deep voice, staring at his daughter. “I can see the fear in your eyes. You don’t want to die.”
Vivianne didn’t respond and just looked away. She couldn’t meet her father’s gaze. What he said was true. She was terrified, but she needed to overcome her fear to save the man she loved.
Alfred grinned. He had hit the right nerve.
“If I’m right, then why are you acting this way, Vivianne? Why do you keep trying to show me that you’re brave when you’re not?” he asked again.
"Because you’re the same way." Vivianne lifted her face, locking eyes with Alfred. "Even though you claim to hate me so much, you can’t kill me. Why? Because even if you don’t want to admit it to yourself, you love us."
"Love?" Alfred laughed at what he heard. "Have you forgotten what you always used to say to me? That I don't know how to love because I don’t have a heart."
"And I was wrong for saying that." Vivianne smiled, for now, she understood everything. "You do know how, but you prioritized greed and worrying about what others would say about you. It made you worse."Download Novelah App
