Chapter 25: Wish You Luck
Chapter 25: Wish You Luck
Vishiea’s POV
“You’re right. Anyway, I’ve been wondering. What’s with you and Rachelle?” I asked Cassie.
“Rachelle and I? What about it?” she wondered.
“The two of you always quarrel. Do you hate her that much, or do you have some personal grudge against her?” She stared at me.
Then she nodded slowly, “I honestly have. Before she became the king’s so-called fiancee, I hated her already,” I’m amazed. She’s honest and clearly not afraid of Rachelle. I mean, we are in a public place. Anyone can hear her saying that.
They can tell Rachelle what she has said. I’m sure Rachelle will be pissed.
“I feel her. Rachelle, Cassie and I were best friends before,” Liliane said. I looked at her, curious. Really? Small worlds, then?
“What happened then? Why did Rachelle become your enemy?” I asked out of curiosity.
“Let me answer that question,” Cassie raised her hand and smirked. I nodded, all right then. I think she will tell a story.
“Believe me or not. Rachelle is the sweetest girl ever. She’s sweet, kind and the most understanding person. But everything changes when she chooses to have an affair with the king who is still the prince before.”
Hmm. Interesting.
“How did the two of them meet?” I asked.
“The three of us were having fun in a club when King August approached us.” I nodded and signed her to continue.
I realised. I still don’t know how he cheated on me. How come I’m not aware of it? I’m such a fool not to know about that.
All I thought was, we’re okay. We’re happy. We don’t have any problem. I’m wondering how someone can fall out of love that easily.
I mean, we were best friends before we turned lovers. It’s not only him whom I lose. It’s our memories, our friendship.
I remember how hard it was after he betrayed me. After I lost my family and got exiled.
I remember how I nearly lost my life because of that. The pain turned into hatred. The hatred in my heart slowly killed the ability to love again.
“Anastasia? Are you listening?” I was pulled back into reality. “Huh?”
“Oh, yes, I’m listening. He’s the one who approached her?” I asked.
They nodded, “Yes. He’s the one who approached her. We’re shocked at first. We thought she would decline his offer, but we’re wrong. We all know he has a mate, his childhood best friend.”
So, they are aware. If they knew, why did they let them have an affair?
“The two of you supported her? Their forbidden relationship?" I asked seriously. They quickly shook their heads.
“Hell no. From the very start, we stopped her. She will ruin her life. The king is a living temptation that she should not try. He’s a committed man. She will never get him.”
I smiled sadly in my mind. Yet, she did. She manages to lure and enter his life.
The reason why my world collapsed. I don’t understand why there’s someone who will do everything to get what they want even if they will hurt someone in the process.
“And let me guess, you failed to stop her?” They nodded.
“We thought we could stop her. They continue meeting secretly. That’s the moment I started to hate her. That’s just unfair and wrong. I pity his mate; she's supposed to be the queen of this kingdom." she said
“I hope his mate will come back and take back what is rightfully hers.” No, she will never come back.
“But then, I realised. She doesn’t deserve all the pain she went through. The king doesn’t deserve her.” She added.
It's good to hear that somehow, there are still people who cared for me before.
“May I know what happened after the king’s mate left?” I asked. I don’t know what exactly happened. And this is the right time to hear about it.
“After she left. I saw how the king locked himself. I think he regretted what he did, but it’s too late.” I doubt that. He’s too cruel to regret.
“And after that?” This time, it was Liliane who answered.
“After that. Rachelle and him continued their relationship. But the king had multiple affairs.” I’m not shocked.
Once a playboy, I will always be a playboy.
“Let’s not talk about them. The event will start now,” I told them. That’s enough for today.
I looked over Nathan’s direction. He’s prepared now.
“Let’s go down,” I said suddenly.
“Huh?” they asked confusedly.
“We should go down to wish him luck,” I answered while still looking at him.
“Hmm? Who? My cousin?” Liliane asked. I nodded.
“Yes. Let’s go even if he’s a skilled Knight already. He still needs someone to support him.” I said.
They eyed me. They were looking at me with so much curiosity. What?
“Do you two know each other?” Cassie asked. I nodded, “Yes, I had a small talk last night.
Their eyes widened.
“Seriously?” I confusedly stared at them.
"Is there something wrong?” Liliane and Cassie looked into each other.
“There is. We seldom see him around any girl here. He even talked to you last night.
Hmm? I am special, then. I chuckled, “No big deal. So, come on,” I said and stood up.
They giggled and followed me as we approached, Nathan. I saw someone’s looking at me. I looked in his direction. And I’m right. Darius indeed looked at me.
Why is he looking at me like that? Damn, creep.
“Sir Nathan!” Cassie energetically greeted him.
“Lady Cassie, Lady Liliane, Lady Anastasia,” he greeted us back with a bow. I nodded to acknowledge him.
“How can I help you, my ladies?” He politely asked.
“Oh, nothing. We are here to wish you luck.” I replied with a smile.
“She’s right! You’re a Knight already, but we still want you to win this game!” Cassie added.
Nathan looked confused, but he slowly nodded.
“Well appreciated then, my ladies. Although I can’t promise that I will win, I will do my best.”
Cassie playfully punches his hand. “That’s the spirit. But I guess you will win. You’re strong, brave and handsome." Cassie jokingly said.
I couldn’t help but smile. She’s adorable.
“Thank you, Lady Cassie.” Cassie giggled beside me.
“No worries. No worries. Gosh, this is what it feels like to talk to you. I’m thrilled.” Cassie is blushing hard.
“Can I get everyone’s attention now, please?” The emcee called for our attention.
“The event will start in one minute. Players, be ready.”
“I need to go now. Thank you again for the support.” Nathan said. He smiled a little before going into the middle of the arena with the nine remaining players.
I nodded and gave him a warm smile.
“You can do it.” He smiled back.Download Novelah App
