Chapter 8: The Lycan King’s fiancée

Chapter 8: The Lycan King’s fiancée
Vishiea’s POV
A group of maids and warriors welcomed me in front of the grand door. I guess this palace’s rule and regulation hasn’t changed at all. That’s nice; at least there is one thing that doesn’t change in this place.
“Welcome to the kingdom Miss Cullen,” someone greeted me and bowed. I frowned slightly as I checked her from head to toe. She looked familiar, oh, I remember now. She’s the only daughter of the head maid before.
Her family is still working as maids in this place. All of them bowed, “All rise.” I commanded. The woman who welcomed me smiled widely.
“Hello, my lady. I’m Yana, and I’m the one who will assist you today. Can we take your stuff now and guide you to your room?” She asked for my permission.
I nodded, “Sure. You can take it now,” She nodded as well. She motioned to the men behind her to get my luggage out of the car. They all nodded and followed her order.
Yana looked at me and smiled warmly. “Shall we go now?” She asked. “Sure, please lead the way.” Yana and I entered the palace. And the two men who were holding my baggage were following us behind.
While we were in the hallway, I couldn’t help but check the surroundings. I used to live here before. Since my father was the beta, we have our room here. This place was filled with happy memories but it gradually changed. It turns into a nightmare.
“Can I ask you something, my lady?” Yana broke the silence. I looked at her and nodded. “Sure, ask right away.” She took a deep breath first before asking.
“You looked familiar; did we meet before?” She asked. I stared at her. Of course, she’ll be familiar to me. She frequently saw me here before. I wanted to answer yes, but chose to say no while shaking my head.
“Probably not. This is my first time to come here,” I lied. She bit her bottom lips. I know she wanted to ask something again but chooses to shut her mouth up. It’s oddly satisfying to see them curious about my identity.
I’m sure if Darius sees me, he’ll be terribly shocked. I can’t wait to see his reaction. “I see. I thought I saw you before here. Anyway, you’re Anastasia Cullen. The successor of the great and lovely Kiara Cullen?” She confirmed.
I nodded, “Yes. Miss Kiara is my mother,” Not by blood, but she’s my mother. “I thought she had no child. I guess that’s just humor,” Not a rumour, though.
“Right.” I agreed. She did not ask again. “Anyway, we are close to your room now,” she informed me. After a few minutes of walking, I noticed that we were on the fourth floor of the palace, near his room.
“Great. Can I ask you something too, Yana?” I asked. She looked at me and curiously nodded, “Sure, my lady. You can ask me anything.” That’s great, then.
“I heard that the king is engaged; is that true?” She hesitated to answer at first but still answered my question. She slowly nodded her head, “Yes, he is. I’m shocked and sad at the same time.” My brow furrowed.
“Why? Aren’t you happy that the king is engaged?” She smiled sadly and looked down.
“How can I be happy for him if I know what he did to his mate before?” I glanced at her. The king’s mate? Which is me.
“Really? May I ask what did he do?” I asked innocently, even if I knew what bullshit he had done to me before. Letting my father die in front of me and got me exiled.
She looked at me, shocked, “Don’t tell me you don’t know what he did?” I shook my head, pretending not to know. “He cheated on his mate and let her leave,” she answered. So, everyone knew that.
“That’s terrible. I guess his fiancée is not his mate then?” She slowly nodded and sighed. “Yes, you’re right. His mate’s probably hated him now. I won’t be surprised if she doesn’t come back. But I hope she will. I’m not too fond of the king’s fiancée. She’s too arrogant and full of herself. Good thing they are not married yet.”
What she said is harsh yet honest. I grinned in amusement. I was suddenly intrigued by who is she. Which one of his mistresses before? I shrugged my shoulder.
“Don’t get me wrong. I can’t stand her. I know if you meet her, you will say the same.” I think I can be close to Yana. She’s straightforward and quite funny.
“Shut up, Cassie! Don’t you fucking dare to say that b-word to me? Know your place!” The two of us stopped talking when we heard someone yell. I saw a blonde girl who was shouting to ginger head girl.
The finger head girl rolled her eyes, “I know my place very well. How about you, bitch?” She replied and grinned even wider.
“Know your place? You’re acting like a boss here!”
Ginger head just shrugged her shoulder and did not say anything. She just walked away but showed her middle finger.
Blonde’s face burning in anger. One of her maids approached her to calm her down, but she slapped her cheeks.
“I don’t need you to calm me down. Get the hell away from me!” as she said that, she started to leave. She looked at me when they passed our place. I just looked back emotionlessly.
A smirk formed on my lips. I just arrived here, but I witnessed a small cat fight.
“Who are they?” I asked as we resumed walking. I saw Yana still looking at the girl, so I tapped her shoulder.
“Oh, pardon?”
“May I know who they are? The ginger head and blonde chicks?” I asked again. She nodded, “It’s Cassie Hearthstone and Rachelle Wu.” She answered.
Cassie Hearthstone. Sounds familiar. “Who is this, Cassie and Rachelle? I mean, what is their role in this kingdom?”
“Cassie is Beta’s cousin. While Rachelle… She’s the King’s fiancée.” Oh… I see. His fiancée’s quite familiar to me too. I wondered where I saw her before.
Oh well. I have plenty of time to find out who they are. This is getting interesting.
“I get it. So, she’s the fiancée. Anyway, I have one last question,” Yana nodded her head.
“Do you know the reason why they are not married yet?” I asked. I’m curious about this question. I mean, it’s been a long time since they got engaged. I wonder the reasons why.
She shook her head, “I don’t know why, but I think it is because the king has not yet moved on from his mate. I heard him searching for her whereabouts for a long time,” that made my brow furrowed—searching for me? I highly doubt that.
“Maybe he’s not ready to commit. I mean, a cheater; always be a cheater,” After I said that, I smiled and tapped her shoulder.
“Come on. Let’s go now.” She smiled and answered, “Agreed.”
