Tamed By Her Love Episode 80

At that point, he was inwardly worked up, just as he always was, whenever he recalled the fast one that Johnny pulled on him three years ago. The thought of what made him to believe that everything seemed to be against him. Although his wife and daughter still lived with him, but they were strangers to one another. Instantly, his thoughts wandered to that ugly day.
Three Years Ago.
Mr. Carlos Fredrickson, a fifty-five-year-old man, was employed by the school a few months before a nineteen-year-old Johnny Stewart a Campus Rascal who was popularly known as the Young CEO, was admitted into the university. Mr. Fredrickson lived all his life in the remote area of Chidek and was unaware of how the society works. He got the job at Mount City University on the recommendation of the government. The employment was compensation for being the longest-serving lecturer in the local university, who had persevered in his career and remained in the hamlet without social amenities. His employment in the school was the first time he stepped out of the remote area since he was born. He schooled there, and the school retained him afterward.
“At last, I am in the city,” he testified and moved into the senior staff quarters with his family.
Likewise, his wife was also a teacher in the local elementary school. When, she reported with her husband, the Mount City University had no option but to employ her in the university’s demonstration school. Furthermore, his nineteen-year-old daughter, Cecilia, was on the university's partial scholarship.  After he was exposed to the city for the first time, he felt that it was time to make all the money that he missed since he was born, especially when he saw the students with blue blood.  Then, he introduced the local money-making system practiced in his local university by merchandising the lecture bulletin. In the hamlet, the students were the meal tickets of the lecturers.
Meanwhile, as a new staff, he was assigned to the freshman students to serve his six-month probation period.  When the news of his exploitation got to the authorities, based on his age and how he got to the school, Prof. Farrell was reluctant to caution him. So, he called for a staff meeting and gave a general warning to avoid embarrassing him. Nevertheless, Mr. Fredrickson was aware that the meeting was specifically because of him because no other lecturer did that. He mistook the Vice Chancellor's coded message to mean cowardice and he concluded that he was indispensable.
After the meeting, he threw caution to the wind and complained bitterly and openly against the school authority, especially the Vice Chancellor.
“Selling of handouts on campus is not a new thing. We do that in my former school. I bought handouts when I was a student. So, why can't I sell as a lecturer?”
Meanwhile, it was difficult to say whether he was bothered that his derogatory remarks could be heard by the other lecturers or not. Considering the dicey nature of the matter, one would expect that he would keep his opinion to himself. Talking loudly about it in the staff room of about twenty lecturers showed a high level of insensitivity and disregard for authority.
Howbeit, his colleagues were busy with one thing or the other. Although, it was impossible to say whether they were concentrating on their work or not because of Mr. Fredrickson’s noise. Likewise, there were a good number of students hanging around. They were seeking the attention of one lecturer or the other, especially the freshmen who were yet to find their bearings on the campus. However, more students kept walking in to submit their work to him and they heard him complaining bitterly.
“Sometimes, one wonders how they expect lecturers to survive without extra income,” he grumbled.
Now, Mr. Jerry Baron, his colleague, gave him a warning look to draw his attention to his environment but he was too engrossed in his battle with invisible forces to see the warning look. When he could not get his attention, he shifted his look from him to the students as if to say, 'I hope you can't hear that'.
Nevertheless, many students in the staff room were there to see him. They kept their distance when they noticed his mood. Notable among the students were Johnny and Princeville.
They were freshmen and the Course Representatives of their various departments. They had come to submit their assignment scripts. Howbeit, they did their best to ensure that they did not miss his deadline and the next lecture.
If only he would attend to them so that they would leave and not incur the wrath of the next lecturer who could be on his or her way to their lecture halls. The next lecture would have been the third lecture for the day, but it turned out to be the first because of the emergency staff meeting held that morning. The outcome of the meeting, which the students were not meant to know, had been summarized by Mr. Fredrickson through his complaint.
Now, when, Princeville suspected that he had calmed down he decided to make his presence known.
Then, he placed the scripts on his desk, and said, “Mr. Fredrickson, these are the…”
“Hey! Freshman, take your stuff off my table,” he interrupted him and pushed the scripts of over one hundred students, away.
“I apologize, Mr. Fredrickson,” the frightened Princeville said and attempted to pick up the scripts.
Howbeit, the ceiling fan which was directly over Mr. Fredrickson's desk helped him to complete his wish over the scripts by blowing them all over the staff room. Now, Johnny who had his scripts bound with a rubber band, tucked them properly under his armpit and assisted Princeville in picking up the scripts.
Meanwhile, Johnny did not bother submitting his. It was a case of 'when a slave sees how a fellow slave was killed, it would give him an idea of his end'. Afterward, they left the staff room together in dejection and that marked the beginning of their friendship.
Before that day, Mr. Fredrickson had mandated all the Course Representatives to submit their assignments as early as 8:00 AM on that day. On that note, Princeville and Johnny were at the staff room as scheduled, but they met in an empty staff room and hung around. They had no choice because the fate of their colleagues depended on that. They knew the outcome if they failed to submit.
“Hello, my name is Johnny Stewart,” he greeted him.
“May I meet you?” He smiled and requested.
“I'm Princeville Ford.”
“It is all right. I am delighted to meet you, Princeville,” Johnny stated and stretched out his hand for a handshake.
“It is my pleasure, Johnny,” he said too.
Afterward, they hurried back to their lecture halls. Meanwhile, Princeville was lucky because, his lecturer, Mr. Victor MacLeish, was still chatting with some security men at their duty posts in front of the faculty. He could be there for half of the lecture period.
Nevertheless, Princeville quietly walked into the hall with the scripts and it did not go down well with his colleagues because they had put in their best to ensure that they met the deadline. Meanwhile, they attacked him with questions one after the other.
