150. Tamed By Her Love Episode 81

“What happened, Princeville? Why did you come back with the scripts?”
“Do you want us to have problems with Mr. Fredrickson?”
“What is the meaning of this, Princeville?"
Without giving him a breathing space, they rolled out the questions one after the other, and he was confused over which question to answer first, that is if he was willing to answer any.
Meanwhile, the look on his face showed that all was not well. Before more questions could come, Mr. MacLeish walked in, and that saved Princeville all the stress.
At Johnny's Lecture Hall
All the same, Johnny was not lucky. His lecturer was already in the hall. He knew very well not to walk into the hall when Miss Lucy Philip was in the class. It was her policy and the policy of almost all the lecturers. As a freshman-year student, who just gained admission into the university, and had yet to get his bearings, he respected himself by allowing his good breeding to come to the limelight. Then, he perched by the window to listen to the lecture, even if he would not write anything down since he had no writing materials. Suddenly, Miss Philip, who had been illustrating on the whiteboard, turned and saw him.
“Why are you standing there, Johnny? I remember I saw you in the staff room a few minutes ago?”
“You are right, Miss Philip. I took our scripts to Mr. Fredrickson,” he replied after he left the window and came to the door as if that would help her to understand his explanations.
“I see, but the scripts are still with you. Why didn't you submit them?” She inquired with concern.
Now, he was not expecting that question. Besides, he could not speak negatively about a lecturer before another lecturer. He believed that they all had one thing in common –  to make life difficult for students.
“Kindly come in and take your seat,” she instructed when she was unable to get a response from him.
Nevertheless, Johnny was unable to explain whether her kindness was for him or annoyance over Mr. Fredrickson's unruly behavior.
All the same, he appreciated her, “I am grateful, Miss Philip," he muttered with a dry smile, praying that she heard it, and would not change her mind.
That day, Johnny could not believe his luck. Miss Philip, was a middle-aged lady in her late thirties, who had a primitive behavior that could be found only in grandmothers, ancient ones for that matter. She could scold a student publicly, not minding how he or she would take it. She was never happy. Although, pretty, her mood, and unsophisticated lifestyle, had stifled her beauty. Occasionally, the students attributed her attitude to her inability to get married.
That day, was a lucky one for Johnny. He was yet to know the reason for such a gesture. Meanwhile, his colleagues were not as interested in the lecture as much as they were in finding out why the scripts were still with him.
What would become of them? The deadline for the submission was that day. Likewise, they wished that Miss Philip would just leave the hall, and allow them to get to the root of the matter. Although they dreaded her wrath, but not as much as they dreaded Mr. Fredrickson. At last, the lecture came to an end, and she left. Nonetheless, the questions began to hit Johnny like hailstones.
“What happened, Johnny?”
“Were you late for the submission?”
“Was he not in school, Johnny?”
“Why are you not talking, Johnny?”
“Which question do I answer first?” The distressed Johnny blurted out.
He had not succeeded in seeing Mr. Fredrickson, he almost missed Miss Philips' class. Even though she pardoned him, he could not concentrate. He was consumed with the thought that Miss Philip's pardon was not real, and might be punished, and now these questions.
“You can answer all the questions at the same time if you like. Just let us know why our scripts were not submitted," Stella, a very naughty and untrained student, blurted.
To Johnny, her big mouth had made things easier for him. Therefore, he capitalized on it and saved himself some trouble.
“You can submit them by yourself,” he declared.
At that point, he tossed the bundle of scripts to her side, stood up angrily, and walked towards the door.
“Did you notice what you have caused, Stella? I don't understand why you can't control your tongue," a student blurted out.
Then, Stanley, who must be on Johnny’s side, remarked, “Let her attempt to submit the scripts, and let's see how loudmouthed she could be before Mr. Fredrickson.”
Then, Johnny turned abruptly and glared at her before he remarked, “Yes. Let her try it And see. A baby that was strapped to the back would not know how hurtful trekking can be.”
Thereafter, he walked away. Nevertheless, the bashing that he would have received from his colleagues fell on Stella. Then, she decided to take the bull by the horns to save her face. She picked up the scripts from the desk and got up.
Likewise, she adjusted her shoes to ensure that they were properly fitted and declared, “No problem, I will take them to him.”
She hardly completed the sentence when the uproar came, “No oooh!”
“Give me my script before you leave,” Stanley warned.
“When did you become the Course Rep?” Pedro demanded and tried to collect the scripts from her.
“I wonder what she thinks she is,” Johnny, who had been standing beside his car in the front of the department, said after he walked in.
From his movement, they conceived that another lecturer was in sight. Then, the class calmed down as though nothing had transpired among them. Meanwhile, freshman year was not different from higher school. The absence of school uniforms and morning assembly were the only differences.
At last, the semester examination came and they did their best. However, their continuous assessment was short of ten marks because Mr. Fredrickson gave two more tests and penalized them for not submitting the first one.
Then, the Course Reps in different departments had problems with their colleagues. Their explanations, on what transpired at his office that day, did not hold water. In all the bashing, Johnny was mostly affected because he was the best student, and the youngest, not just in his department, but in the entire school. Such success brought many women his way, and he never missed the gesture.
Now, Stanley, who did well too, gave him a suggestion, “We cannot continue like this, Johnny. This man needed to be taught a lesson.”
