The Reunion 2
The Next Day
In Carson's Office.
He was with Mike and Annabel. Pearl could not show up because of her schoolwork. They were there to help put a finishing touch to the video.
“Guy, I think we are repeating the episodes of the movie. Or what do you think?” Mike remarked.
“I intend to repeat the STOLEN PRINCESS and add one more episode.”
“It is a good idea. We will also play the teaser of the TAMED BY HER LOVE, right?”
“That will also be nice. They can download the previous editions, and watch.” Carson responded and went back to work.
After some time, his phone rang, and he felt distracted. Likewise, he picked up his phone and looked at the caller.
“Dad,” he said.
Now, Mike, who was disturbed too by the phone call, looked up. Annabel dropped her script and waited for Carson to pick up the call.
“Hello, Dad,” he greeted, “Is there anything you want me to do for you?” He asked.
“Hello, Carson. If you are not too busy, I would like to see you in my office.”
He did not like such interference whenever he was editing, but he had no choice. He took a deep breath, and affirmed, “I will be with you shortly.”
“It is all right.”
He saved his work quickly, and excused himself, “Kindly excuse me. I will be back before you say Jack Robinson.”
“Jack Robinson. You are still here,” Annabel teased.
They laughed jovially, and Carson walked briskly out of the office.
In Sir Gilmore's Office
“Dad, you sent for me.”
“Yes. Take your seat.”
Carson took his seat and gave his father an expectant look. He saw the stoic expression on his face and laughed, and Carson was embarrassed.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I hope you are not planning to run away with my new car?” His father teased.
He laughed his heart out and was delighted that his father diligently followed his movie.
“Don't be afraid. I won't. Besides, you don't have any new car with a gold color. Do you?”
“I don't mind buying one for you.”
“Wow! That is interesting. When will you do that?”
“Right away. But there are terms and conditions attached to it.”
“Terms and conditions! Let's hear it.”
“I will buy one for you if you succeed in convincing Alfred and his wife to accompany you to Nassau, and also forgive his parents.”
In his bewilderment, and grateful for his good fortune, he muttered, “Did I hear you right, Dad?”
“Yes. I want that to be his festival gift to his family. They must have learned their lessons.”
Instantly, the acting skills of Carson came to light. He applied the tricks that Johnny used to get whatever he wanted from his father, and remarked, “This is a herculean task, and it may cost me our friendship.
His father saw reason with him but persuaded him, "I know but it depends on how you present it."
"I can risk it if I see the car right away.”
“Consider it done,” Sir Gilmore stated with emphasis.
He picked up his phone and ordered the latest car for a young man of his age.
“Gold color car, right?” he looked at his face and asked
'This is serious,' he thought, and responded, “Yes Dad, the gold color would be nice.”
After a few minutes, he announced, “It is done. They would deliver any moment from now.”
“Yippee!” He exclaimed, and requested, “If that is the only thing that you want me to do, can I leave and get across…”
He was interrupted by his phone, and stopped, “Alfred is calling,” he announced.
His father's eyes beamed, and he advised, “Pick up the call and intimate him of your intentions at once.”
“I don't think it is ideal to discuss such a thing over the phone. I will go over to his office and discuss it over lunch.”
“That is a good idea,” his father agreed, and he dashed out of the office.
He picked up up Alfred's call, and hailed, “Hello, Alfred.”
“Hello, Carson. What's up?”
“I'm good, and you?”
“I'm fine, and coming to your office. Are you there?”
“Sure. You can come over.”
“I don't get it. Why are you so excited?”
“You will not understand. Come with some confectioneries for the celebration. Mike and Annabel are with me.”
“I see.”
While he walked back to his office, his excitement could be seen by even a blind man.
Mike furrowed his brow, and inquired, “What is going on?”
Now, Annabel was as inquisitive as Mike and looked at him. Instead of sitting on his swivel chair, he chose to sit on the couch and released the good news.
"Alfred is coming. We have cause to celebrate.”
“Wow! What are we celebrating?”
“I will inform all of us at once.”
With the atmosphere, they could not concentrate on their work. Soon, Alfred arrived.
“Wow! Here comes the Professional K,” Mike teased.
Alfred expected that, but not with the abbreviated lexicon.
He laughed his heart out, looked at Annabel, and stated, “Tell Mike that I am preparing for him. You will see me when I will launch my attack.”
“Welcome, Alfred. You have my support,” Annabel added.
He took his seat beside the euphoric Carson, and inquired, “What's up, guy?”
“You can't believe it. Daddy just bought the Scion FR-S (Toyota 86) for me.”
“Fantastic!”
“That is good to hear. Congratulations.”
“What for? It is not your birthday,” Alfred asked.
“He was afraid that I would steal his car like Johnny in the movie,” Carson stated to avoid Mike and Annabel hearing their secret.
“Oh my God! Was he influenced by that scene?” Annabel asked.
“Old men can be influenced by anything," he declared.
“You are right. Congratulations, Carson. That would save you the cost of hiring from the car dealers,” Alfred stated.
“You are right.”
They settled down to have their confectioneries, and suddenly, Carson got a call from Allen, and he informed him that his car had arrived. They walked out in jubilation and saw the car. Carson collected the keys and got behind the wheel immediately. They watched him drive around and finally returned to them.
“He truly behaved like Johnny in the movie,” Allen pointed out.
They laughed at his joke. Afterward, Mike and Annabel left, and Carson and Alfred returned to his office.
“Congratulations, once again, Carson.”
“Thank you, Alfred. What brings you?”
“I have informed my parents-in-law of my intention to visit the Bahamas this festive season.”
“That is good. What is their opinion?”
“They were happy with it. I would like to inform your dad too. And if possible, plead with him to come with us.”
Carson laughed sarcastically, and Alfred wondered what could be funny, and asked, “What is funny? Or do you think that you are on set?”
He laughed some more and requested, “What kind of car would you buy for me to convince him to come with us?”
He furrowed his forehead, and declared, "I don't get you. What has the buying of a car got to do with my request?”
“The new car was an incentive for me to convince you to forgive your parents, and travel to Nassau with me.”
The confused Alfred looked at him in astonishment and, he continued, “As you can see, I have convinced you. Now, I want to convince Dad on your behalf, what are you offering me?”
Alfred smiled angrily and expressed his aggression, “You are taking advantage of us? Right?”
“Not at all. I'm only being nice to you.”
“And rendering your services when needed,” Alfred added sarcastically.
They laughed again, and Carson explained, “On a serious note, Dad was not aware that it was your idea that we should go to Nassau and that you had forgiven your parents.”
