Chapter 18 - Date

*Claire’s Point of View*
---
"Alright, now good luck, Babe," Shay stated and tapped my shoulder real hard. Like, it so damn hurts. Damn, this girl is causing me a lot of injuries lately.
"And hey, don't forget to tell me what will happen, okay?" She taunted me, and I just shook it off.
"Hey, Lawrence! Take care of our Samantha." Rebecca started and smiled at me warmly.
I looked at her, and sincerity was clearly written on her face. Sammy really got great friends, even though I knew them as little b*tches way back then.
"Yeah. And also, keep an eye on my cousin. A lot of people of different genders love to chase her. This time, I resign from acting as her girlfriend just to rescue her from them." I told her as I smiled at her. Finally, Shay found someone.
Then the girl looked at Shay sharply, and she defended, "What? It's not my fault why I was born like this."
"Alright, bye, you two! Enjoy your time together." I bid them goodbye and turned to leave Mom's establishment.
Where should I go?
Well, I guess someone's waiting for me.
I stared at her face, and she looked so different from that b*tchy bully girl I knew before. It's clear that she has changed. She's not a girl anymore; she has become a woman.
I don't know, but I have to admit that I really like her. I don't care about what was our history; what is important is now and the future, right?
It's just that the thought of her makes me smile, and her touch makes me shiver. Like, every time I remember what happened last night, my stomach feels crazy. I'm sure I've never felt this way before, only on her.
As I got closer to her, I noticed that she's sad or something. And she's looking out of nowhere.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked as I approached her. It's like if she's sad, I'm sad too.
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. So, umm, do you...? I mean, you're gonna go home now?" She answered while stuttering, and in an instant, she's back to herself.
Now, that's a good thing that she asked me.
"Uh, nope. Come here." I told her and held her hand and then I dragged her to Alice.
And I felt sparks rush to my body as I touched her hand.
She said nothing, and she's not refusing either. Great!
"Alright, I want you to meet Alice." I introduced my pick-up truck to her, and she looked confused or something familiar, like how I introduced Nikki to her last night. She's just so adorable.
"Huh? Who's Alice?" She asked with something in her voice. I know she might be jealous, but she's so cute when she is.
"Alice, my pick-up truck," I stated and pointed to my truck.
"Wow, that's Alice? It's so cool." She said in awe, and her aura changed back.
"Yep, so, uh... You got somewhere else to go?" I asked nervously while fidgeting.
Damn, I'm asking this girl out on a date. Like, I got nowhere to go. I usually get home by four whenever I get here from work because Shay and I got to stroll around the mall, boutiques, and some other bars and clubs around.
"Umm, no." She answered shortly, and yes, I got a 50/50 chance with that.
"Okay. Wanna take a ride and eat some ice cream later?" I finally asked her, and she seemed glad.
"Like a date?" She asked excitedly and smiled. Hell yeah, a date.
"Uh, umm... Yeah, sort of?" I answered, and I know blushing is not my thing, but I clearly got a face like my hair right now. And damn, she's blushing too. Now, that's a 75/25 chance right there.
I opened the door for her, and she thanked me. I winked at her as a response, and there she goes again, having a ripe tomato face.
I went to the back seat and placed my guitar, and then I proceeded to the driver's seat.
"I wanna show you something. But before anything else, the first stop is the Park." I uttered and stepped on the gas to drive us to the place.
I really want to show her a place where I feel safe and calm. It's not like I got an evil plan on taking her to a place that's only the two of us and dark, okay? Well, sort of, but... No, I am not thinking of it at all.
---
"Hey, what flavor do you like?" I asked this gorgeous girl what ice cream flavor she likes as we got here at the park. Well, on the way there, it was very quiet and awkward. I know. It did happen to you too. Or just me? Okay.
"Umm, strawberry. And chocolate for you, right?" She stated, and I guess she really knew what's my favorite.
Well, she used to pour my chocolate drinks before and stole some of them too. And also, I spilled some of it on her on my first day at PWA.
"Yep. How did you know?" I asked her just to make sure she remembered everything she did to me.
"Well, I know that you know. And I'm really really sorry about those times, Red." She uttered and apologized.
I know she already asked for forgiveness before, and she changed for the better.
The ice cream vendor gave us each of our ice creams in cones.
"Uh, umm... Well, I actually haven't forgiven you yet." I said and joked with her while we were eating our ice cream.
Her face is just so funny when she gets shocked.
"Really? Well, I can't blame you, though. It's just me being so childish and always a bully, and you know, a b*tch to you most of the time. I'm really sorry about it." She said seriously and sighed deeply.
Well, I never meant for it to be serious. Because the moment I approached her, I had already forgiven her.
"Uh. Okay. But you can pay me instead." I asserted and looked somewhere else.
I just got a crazy idea in mind. It's payback time.
"Oh! Umm, how much? Or whatever it is, you name it." She stated, and there it is.
"Well, this is what it costs," I uttered and took some of my ice cream with my pointer finger and wiped it on her left cheek.
She was surprised because it's so damn cold and she didn't expect that.
Then she looked at me like she would have her vengeance in any second by now.
And in a flash, I ran away from her with enough distance for her to catch up. She has some ice cream in her hand too, and is ready to wipe it on me. Oh, no!
"Come back here, you little red nerd!" She yelled while chasing me.
"I'm actually taller than you. And I have no glasses on." I declared just to tease her about being shorter than me. I think I'm two inches taller than her or more.
"Haha, very funny. Wait until I catch you, and you'll see what you're looking for." She laughed sarcastically and warned me.
Let's see how this short cheerleader captain catches a former MVP in soccer.
"Really? What if I'll let you catch me? What will you do?" I asked her as I stopped in my tracks.
She came closer, and she was looking at something behind me.
"Hey, look! There are Shane and Becca right there." She yelled as she pointed behind me.
I turned around to look for them, and I found no Shay or Becca right there.
I turned back to her, and my face met some strawberry ice cream and a laughing blondie.
"Now, that's what we call Red having red hair, in a red truck with a red face. Yeah!" She let out, then continued laughing.
While she's busy laughing her ass out, I took another scoop of ice cream and wiped it on her other cheek.
"Now, we're even," I said, and it is time for me to laugh. And she just laughed with me as well.
I just love being with her. It's like I am showing her the real me.
Well, it's true that I never really felt this happy being with someone before. Shay and I were just like being sisters and best friends and messing up with each other.
My cousin is right that I just need to approach her and make friends so that my worries will disappear.
Wait, friends? I don't wanna be friends with her. I mean, we could be, but I don't want to. And that's final.
