Chapter 25 - Bet

*Blair Claudette Cavanaugh's POV*
---
"Thankfully, they didn't change the name, Babe. I can't imagine people nowadays know it as something else. It would sound ugly for sure." I uttered, looking out the car window as we passed by the Pryce Winsley Academy, and I heard my girlfriend, who's driving our newly purchased car slower, let out a sad sigh.
"Yeah. I do miss it so much. The memories of me ruling there were so fresh. It was just like last month that I gave you a punishment for being the best policy-breaker that had ever walked on that one hella place." She replied, driving quite faster now, and I let out a soft laugh as I remembered that moment.
"Fudge, yeah! That was epic. I wish we could finally have it back sooner. Do you think Marve still remembers us? Well, I mean, of course, she could remember you, since she's in charge of principaling the Academy with your name. Principaling— is that even a word?" I retorted and took out my phone to look at the time as well as the map of where the restaurant that we will meet that my cousin had reserved for the four of us.
"I don't know, Blair. Perhaps, yes, since your face and behavior are quite very hard to forget. And maybe Cassie gave her a heads up that she might be surprised or freak out with this meeting and reveal. I hope the witch will come on time, though, so we won't be left there explaining our shits about why and why and how." She answered and stepped on the breaks when the traffic light ahead turned red, and I nodded my head in response.
We are hoping that Sander would finish early with her work back in their hospital. She needs to perform a heart transplant surgery on a young man and would definitely head here as soon as she can.
Discussing things with one of my old human friends is necessary. Marve is the one who knows who is the owner of the academy now because she works for them. We just need to speak to her boss so that we could offer them triple or how much they would price the academy. We will buy it back whatever the cost of it- not life and other crucial things, of course. Just money involve.
These last couple of weeks of us being alive, Pryce and I are living pretty fine. We go out every weekend to have a stroll at the mall and buy things and food supplies, and we go to different schools on weekdays. Honestly, I have grown to feel comfortable with our class schedules. It isn't very easy because we have four different time zones to be at every school day, but we have managed to arrange our time very carefully. And yes, I have been learning a lot, both of us do. Fine, a little on my part because I am not a fan of teachers' lectures and reading books.
---
"Hey, Prycie, Blairie, just a quick reminder that if ever Marvy will freak out when she sees both of you alive and breathing and knowing you are not purely humans, and whatever her reaction would be that could be unhandy, I will apply sleep induction automatically. But if not... Well, let's just hope she won't freak out too much." My cousin told us while the three of us are inside our car at the parking lot of the restaurant. And I could sense the human woman's familiar aura inside the place from here.
"Okay. Noted, Cassie." Pryce agreed while I nodded my head in response.
"Alright, I will go in there first and explain a little about both of you. And, of course, we should expect that she won't believe it, but I will try my best to convince her. So... You would make your entrance as if you are normal citizens, okay? No teleportation or super speed yet. Are we clear?" The mediator added, and both of us, children, nodded our heads in understanding. We would both just stay here and listen to their conversation using our super hearings as vampires. And, we would walk in, slowly, after Marve shows signs that she is calmer and almost going to believe what my cousin would say to her about us.
"Cool. Now, I will go, and both of you try to listen, and I will tell you if you are good to go." Sander uttered before opening the backseat door and headed out to go into the establishment.
"Hey, Sweetheart, wanna bet what would be the first words Marve would utter if Sander tells her that we aren't dead?" I asked my mate with a grin on my face, and she looked at me with her face seeming interested and replied, "Sure. That would be fun. I'll start. I'd go for... Are you kidding me?"
"Great! Now, I would go for... No way. Now, what is the catch, Babe?" I told her my prediction, and she giggled. Mm, she must have something good as her consequence if ever she would win.
"Ooh, yeah, I have one. It's just easy. Don't worry, love. If I win... You will... Wash the dishes for one week. Deal?" She said and held out her right hand for a pinky swear to lock our agreement, and I just looked at her with my wide eyes in terror. How can she be so cruel to me like that? One week? That sounds like forever to me.
"Deal." I agreed and locked my right pinky with hers, and I told her, "Now, if I win... You will... Do everything I say for one week. Everything, Cupcake. Deal?"
When she heard my bargain, her mouth dropped in shock.
Oh, is it that hard? I mean, it's not that difficult, right? Well, washing dishes against your will sounds more tormenting to me.
"Fine. Deal." She bravely agreed, and we shook our hands right after. This is so fudging exciting, and fun.
We waited for any word my cousin would say, and I guess she hasn't seen the target yet.
---
About a minute passed, and we felt that Sander had gone near where Marve was waiting for us.
"Hi! Cassandra! Finally! It's been a long time, girl! How are you?" The voice of that adorable curly-haired creature cheerfully greeted my cousin, and I bet they went in for a bear hug.
"Oh, Marvy! It's been quite some time, girl! Three months? Yeah, three months." Sander replied with the same energy.
My cousin did tell us that, every year, they would gather and visit our graves with our human friends. Maybe they are mourning. Well, I bet they are talking about us, two, behind our backs without us knowing.
"Yeah! It's been about three months, Cass. What's with this sudden visit of yours from Ontario? It must have been so important." Marve asked her, and they both seemed to sit down, facing each other.
I looked at my mate, and she smiled so wide, feeling so excited to win. I just wiggled my eyebrows at her with overconfidence, and she giggled. Oh, I have so many things in my mind that I will make her do for that one week. Damn, I feel so much giddiness in my bones. But if I lose, fudge, no problem. I just marvelously remembered that I can use my witchiness to let the plates wash themselves. Oh, I am so sorry for my poor mate. Mwahahaha! Do you think I am an evil witch? Nope, I am just a wise and lazy witch.
"Oh, yes. It is indeed important. Actually, I am here for two reasons. And as I told you last time on the phone, it's quite a bit... Uh, how do I say this? Umm, it's both hard to reckon. Yeah. Just don't freak out too much, alright?" Sander answered, and I could hear her heart beating so quickly.
"Okay. Tell me about it. Maybe I could help. This seems to be a serious problem. I'll do what I can, Cass." The human woman assured her, and my cousin let out a deep nervous breath. And both Pryce and I here are so eager to hear their succeeding dialogue. Oh, please, let it be me to be the one to win.
"The first one is... It's about Pryce and Blair." Our lead began, and I am crossing my fingers on both hands. I glanced at my girlfriend, and she showed me a 'good luck to me' look on her face. Well, hell, yeah.
"Oh, really? What is it that concerns them?" Marve asked and sounded so curious about my cousin's purpose in telling her about us, who died long ago.
"I need to let you know that... They... They are both... Alive. They are not dead." My cousin stated, feeling a bit anxious, and there was silence from the human being.
