Chapter 69 LAST RULE

Silents and awkwardness surround the vehicle. Whenever he stares at me, I try to avoid him, and he tries the same thing.
As soon as I arrived at the palace, I walked straight to my room. I let out a sigh. "How could this happen?" I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes. Why? It’s as though I’m floating in the air right now.
I grinned. "Congratulations, Prince! You did it!" In an instant, his lips were pressed against mine, and I started to tickle my body. My heart has begun thumping like crazy.
"Thanks to you, I won." He cracked a grin.
After he kissed me, he descended to the ground once again. I was stunned by what he did. I couldn’t even open my mouth in shock.
As I recall what occurred, I see myself smiling as I touch my lips. I can’t believe he kissed me on the lips. A kiss was stolen from me by the Prince.
"And the last rule is that you should never fall in love with him." Then I understood what I’d done was wrong. I don’t want to flout one of the king’s rules.
"Of all the rules of the king, why does it have to be the last of his rules?" I mumbled to myself. It’s as if I’m a child thrashing and screaming in my bed. My thoughts are jumbled right now.
Before I walked downstairs, I double-checked to make sure there was no Prince present. I dashed into the kitchen to grab something to drink in case Augustus and I ran into one another. It was after that kiss that I wanted to stay away from him.
"Good evening, Chief Och!" The first thing I did when I walked in was grin.
In response, he grinned and said, "Good evening, Gemma!
"It seems like you are in a rush."
"Y-yes." I nodded my head in agreement. "I’m swamped with schoolwork."
"Well, that’s understandable. Have you eaten yet? " He asked.
"Yes, Chef Och, I’m finished with my meal," I said. "I’m heading back to my room."
"Gemma, hold on!"
I returned my gaze to Chief Och. He walked up to me and gave me the tray of food. "Would you be able to deliver this to Prince Augustus? There's no one here who can bring his meal to the room since everyone here is too busy."
"Me?" I said while pointing at myself. "But..."
"Thank you very much, Gemma." He flashed a grin.
It’s too late to say no to Chief Och since he's already given me the tray. Even though I didn’t want to, I was obligated to bring the prince’s meal.
Despite how hard I strive, fate always manages to drag me into his. I inhaled deeply before knocking. "Your dinner is already here, P- Prince." I stumbled over my words.
I wanted to back away, but it was too late since he had already opened the door to the room. Without looking up, I gave over the meal.
"Come on in!" He said.
"Huh?"
"Put the meal in there." He made a motion toward the table.
I paused for a moment. "Alright." What am I going to do? Is it really necessary for me to enter if he can just take the food from me?
I instantly set the meal on the table and was ready to go out the door when he called my name. "Gemma!" So I had come to a halt. "Don’t you have anything to say? Aren’t you going to ask?"
It took me a moment to shake my head. I was going to reach for the doorknob when he grabbed my hand and shut the door in front of me. "I’m going to go, Prince."
"We haven’t finished discussing yet, Gemma."
"You may request anything else after your meal by saying so through the intercom."
"Are you trying to make it seem like nothing occurred earlier?" I tried all I could to get him out the door, but he simply wouldn’t budge. "Gemma, I’m talking about that kiss. What does that mean to you?
"T- that kiss... isn’t worth anything. It doesn’t imply anything; you were just too pleased with your victory, which is why it happened." I explained.
"Do you think that was my reason for doing so?" As he got closer and closer to me, I had to move backward as well. "Isn’t it obvious to you that you’re the reason why I’m feeling this way? Do you want me to say it again?"
"Stop, Prince!" I said aloud. "Please don’t. I can’t."
"Can I control how I feel?" he asked, tightening his grasp on my arm. "My heart raced for you, Gemma, and the only thing I want is for you to love me... I want you, Gemma."
Looking through his eyes allowed me to see what he was feeling. His eyes were begging, and he was trying to hold back the tears streaming down his face. I couldn’t stand the thought of staring at him for too long, so I averted his gaze.
"It’s Raeanna... and I’m not the one you’re thinking about, Prince Augustus."
He released his grip on my arm. "Why do I get carried away by your lies? For financial gain, not out of genuine concern for me!" He said, with a stern voice.
"No, it isn’t like that at all."
"I don’t understand why you have to make me feel this way!" He said out loud.
"Prince, no..." Prince Augustus flung away the food I had brought and, with his palm, he smashed the glass on the table. "Prince!" Streams of blood were dripping from his hand onto the floor, one after the other.
To help him, I took a handkerchief from the table and wiped his bloody hand. "Do not come near me!" He yanked my hand away from him. "Get out of here, you two are the same!"
"But..."
"Get the hell out of here!" He let out a scream.
As he went out of the room, I clutched my chest in pain because of what was stabbing into my chest. I want you to know that I want you as well, but it’s not good for us to be together.
"I’m... sorry." With each tear that fell down my cheeks, I felt more and more powerless.
The guards hastened quickly because Prince Augustus was yelling and breaking things in his room. "Gemma, what exactly happened?" Mr. Osiris asked, his voice filled with worry.
"There’s blood on his hand," I replied, as I cast my gaze to the ground. "Please, Mr. Osiris, let the nurse see his hand."
They rushed inside the Prince’s room without wasting any time. I kept walking until I didn’t even notice that I had passed my room on the way. I came to a halt and turned around.
"Gemma!" Walden walked over to me and offered me a hug.
"Walden." The moment my head collided with Walden’s chest, I erupted into tears.
"Shh." Walden put his hand on my back and stroked it over and over.
"I hurt him... I hurt the Crown Prince." I couldn’t keep it in. I cried out loud. "Why me?"
