Chapter 8

“Have some,” Greg handed her the cup. She shook her head. “I don’t take alcohol.” “The alcoholic content isn’t much. Try it.” She shook her head again. “No, thank you.” “Just a sip. A sip won’t make you drunk,” he raised the glass to her lips. She pushed the glass away. “What about the money you promised me?” “Oh, that?” he fumbled in his pocket and brought out money.“Here.” The light jumped into her eyes. “Thanks,” she grabbed the money, counted it, and stuffed it into her purse. “There’s no need to thank me,” he raised the glass again. Shetook the cup and took a sip. The creamy, chocolate taste hit her taste buds, and she liked it. She took another sip. “I’m taking this because you insist.” “You like it?” She ran her tongue across her lips. “What’s this?” “Do you like it?” She nodded. “It tastes like chocolate.” He refilled the glass. “Yes.” She picked up the bottle. “I hope there’s no alcohol?” He took the bottle from her. “Oh, it’s just 15%. Not much you’d say.” She sipped more. “Wait a minute,” he stood up and ran into the kitchen. Minutes later, he came back with a roasted chicken. The aroma of the chicken, onions and pepper hit her nostrils and greed jumped into her eyes. She began to salivate. “I bought it for you.” She ran her tongue cross her lips before attacking the chicken “Thank you!” “Do you need pepper?” “She shook her head.Chunks of meat filled her mouth. “Something is missing.” he said and walked across the room to the home theater and fumbled with the set. Minutes later, music filled the room. “That’s better.” She hummed the song and soon, the music, the wine, and the meat got into her. When he began to play with her hair, she let him, and when he kissed her, she could not resist, but once her back touched the bed sheet, her senses came back. She pushed him away. “Oh, stop it!” “I thought you loved me?” “Yes, but ...” “But what?” “I can’t do it.” “Why?” “I don’t know, but I can’t.” “Please, if you love me, do it for me,” he reached for her. She pushed him away. “It’s not just enough to say you love me, prove it.” “Greg, I love you, you know I do.” “Then prove it.” “I will. Give me time.” “Oh, to hell with time. Don’t you know I am a man? Don’t you know I have blood in my veins?” he cried and jumped out of the bed. “I know, calm down.” He struggled into his shirt. “You’re telling me to calm down after all I invested in you?” She grabbed his hand. She did not want to lose the money he promised her. “Baby, please listen.” He took his hand away. "Why should I listen to you? Okay, what excuse do you have?” She ran her hands through his hair and traced the lines on his face; he pushed her hand away. “I love you.” “I don’t think so.” “Why?” He turned to face her. “See, I believe after the verb ‘love,’ to ‘give’ is the second most important word in the English dictionary.” “Yes.” she snuggled closer. “And I believe it’s impossible to love without giving. God is proof. The Bible says in John 3:16, ‘God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son…’ note, the catchword here ‘gave’ because of ‘love.’ God’s love for the world motivated Him to give His best-His only Son, Jesus Christ, and it was love that made Abraham give his only son.” She nodded. His knowledge of the Word never ceased to amaze her. “If you say you love me without giving, it’s not selfless love. Real love gives, and that is why I’m giving you my best, your best is what I want. It’s the only proof I can get.” The wine was taking effect on her and her defenses were fast eroding. He pulled her close and traced her curves and sensory nerve endings. She shuddered and felt a wave of dizziness and a sense of disorientation. When he dragged her to the bed and pulled down her pants, she could not stop him.
