Chapter 76. Relationships

The sound of Lia's breathing caught Arjuna's attention, who was busy with the documents in his room. Immediately the man raised his head, noticed Lia who was lying on the sofa in Arjuna's room, regardless of the clock that was starting to show night. To confirm the time, Arjuna glanced at the watch in his hand, watched it for a few moments before facing Lia who had sighed again. Arjuna's frown was unavoidable, he felt both confused and worried.
“There is a problem?” asked Arjuna finally. He who was busy with the students' papers at the university now couldn't focus because of Lia's actions. Instead of answering, the girl just sighed again, it was clear that she had no intention of replying. Arjuna had a hard time holding back his anger at Lia's attitude.
“Aini … it's okay, right?” Lia now rose from her position, sat up straight, but her head was still deeply bowed. He really didn't know what else to do. He was worried about his friend. Because of the rules made by her stepmother, Aini couldn't leave if it wasn't for Leo's invitation.
Arjuna understood very well the fear that was inside Lia so he left his papers. “If I can only say hopefully, sorry I can't give more confidence.”
Lia pursed her lips, glanced at Arjuna indignantly before averting her eyes. He felt annoyed at Arjuna who spoke like that. From the start, he already knew that they wouldn't know how Aini was in the house, but that didn't mean he wanted to hear that from other people. Lia's annoyed expression made Arjuna feel guilty, so he left his desk and sat in front of Lia, not daring to call the child. The wrinkles on his forehead made Arjuna feel even more worried.
They were silent for a few moments before the sound of Arjuna's cell phone startled them both. Feeling a little guilty, Arjuna immediately checked his cell phone and found a message from Dave explaining how Aini was feeling that day at the office and what he ended up doing to help her. When he read all the messages, Arjuna's eyes widened. He felt sure that Leo must have something to stop Dave's actions.
The anxiety inside Arjuna radiated throughout the room so that Lia finally glanced at the man. He who originally had a sour face was now looking at her with concern. The wrinkles on his forehead also did not go away until he finally decided to ask Arjuna directly. For a few moments, he just stared at Lia, hesitating to talk about Dave's rash actions.
“What's the matter again?”
“Uhm… Dave… sent a cooperation proposal with Aini's father's company.” Lia rolled her eyes, feeling unsuspecting and curious about why Dave did that. Finally, Arjuna decided to explain the problem where Niar hurt Aini. Obviously, this makes Lia angry.
“Then where is Dave going now?” Lia, who was already more excited, now stood up straight, watching Arjuna, who was still busy with his cell phone.
“He asked to meet. Just the two of us.”
For a few moments, Lia was silent before saying that she would come but only quietly. Lia thought of Marissa who suddenly came to Dave's office and felt that this woman would come back to see her. Somehow, it felt like this woman could always know Dave's whereabouts, even though she had been silenced. Arjuna easily accepted Lia's offer and allowed the girl to go with him to the meeting place. Upon arrival, Lia immediately left Arjuna and said she would be near him.
It didn't take long for the two men to start talking seriously. And at that moment, Lia could see someone watching them both. That person was none other than Marissa herself. Having found his whereabouts, Lia immediately left a message for Arjuna. Luckily, the man immediately replied to his message and said that they would be careful. Knowing that Dave was not in a good enough condition, Arjuna didn't say anything to the man.
“Aini … I have to do something for Aini, right?” Dave lowered his head, began to talk gibberish. Seeing his friend's condition like that, Arjuna gave a bitter smile. “I hope… my choice won't hurt Aini again.”
“If for example, there are many who want to drop you?” Arjuna, who glanced around for a few moments, looked back at Dave.
"I will fight. I will fight all those who try to separate me from Aini!” Dave squeezed the glass in his hand before he finally cried silently. Even though Arjuna actually felt angry and didn't accept it, he still felt that Dave also sincerely had feelings for Aini. It's just that his caring attitude towards Aini makes other people feel jealous and also dislike him.
“Are you sure… you can fight them all?” Dave didn't answer Arjuna's question and just continued to cry. In their busy lives, suddenly the sound of screams filled the place where they gathered. Arjuna, of course, knew whose voice it was screaming, so he hastily glanced back, leaving Dave unheeded by the noise that filled the entire room.
“If you walk with your eyes please!” cried Lia who stood up, staring fiercely at the woman in front of her.
"'Lia, what's wrong?”
Arjuna hastily ran to the side of the child, watching him, who was now blushing on the hands. There is no doubt that the woman spilled something hot on Lia's hand. Due to panic, Arjuna immediately took a tissue and rubbed it gently on the child's hand, not looking at the perpetrator of the action. After making sure there was no more water, Arjuna tried to pull Lia to wash her under cold water. Only then did he see who spilled the water.
“Got it, huh? Sorry, accidentally.” The woman walked away, making Arjuna immediately withdraw his hand, quite roughly. This surprised both Lia and the woman who was pulled away.
“Why are you here? You… followed Dave, right?” Marissa, the culprit who spilled the hot water, was silent for a few moments before putting on an innocent expression. “What do you want with Dave?”
“What do you want? That's none of your business, right? Why should you interfere?”
"Because you've left, Dave! Now, when Dave has found his happiness, you just come back…?” Marissa chuckled softly before bringing her face closer to Arjuna's, glaring at him intently.
“Dave will never be happier except with me. I'm the only one who can make Dave happy, understand?” Marissa, who didn't like Arjuna's words, glanced at Lia, smiling a smile that neither of them understood at all. "This person is precious to you, right? If you don't want her to suffer the same fate as Aini… that annoying girl who stole Dave from me, you better not get involved.”
Marissa, without saying anything, immediately pulled Lia's hair on the top of Lia's head, forcing Lia to move her head too. After being satisfied, then Marissa threw Lia down and left the two of them. “'Woman … what a wicked woman! I won't let Aini get sick because of her!"
