She turned to see a very tall, fair and confident handsome man. He was everything you want in a man. He looks rich and arrogant.
"I'm Babajide Badmus, and I have been watching you since you entered the restaurant. Who was that man that left you in anger?" He asked.
"That man is my husband and I am a mother of one." Anu uttered with pain in her heart. A beautiful night was ruined before her eyes. She spoilt everything.
"Hey baby, are you kidding me? A young lady like you? Why did you marry that hopeless guy?" He demanded.
"It's none of your business, Mr. Richmond." Anu responded with sarcasm.
She stood up abruptly, picked up her bag and walked out of the restaurant gracefully.
He ran after her and forced her to enter his prado Jeep car. Anu struggled but he was stronger and determined to take her home.
Bayo was waiting outside for her to come. As usual, he was pacing up and down. As soon as Anu alighted from the vehicle, his countenance changed and he yelled.
"What the hell. You had the gut to bring in a man into my home?"
Anu flared up. She has had enough of Bayo. First he brought her friend Hannah home, she tried to overlook it. He left her in the restaurant and walked away. Another man saw her and brought her home.
"Oh, so it's painful to you? You that have been sleeping with all types of ladies, bringing them into this house nko?" Anu snapped.
"Are you insane, you dare talk back to me?"
Bayo ran to give her a dirty slap, but Jide held his hands with all boldness.They both looked at each other squarely, eyeballs to eyeballs,shoulder to shoulder.
"I guess you must have been abusing this young beautiful girl. But I promise you that I will lock you up tonight. You will never raise your filthy finger to hit this innocent lady again."
Babajide made a call to the police station and a vehicle came in about ten minutes.
"Who are you to arrest me, in my house?"
"I'm Babajide Badmus, I will take you behind the bars."
Anu felt so proud of Jide. She felt on top of the world to have a man protect her right.
"You mean that you will stand there and watch this man take me away?"
"I'm sorry husband, I need to be protected from you. If I leave you, you will destroy my body. Enough is enough." Turning to Hide she muttered.
"Thank you very much for doing this for me. Though I never knew you from Adams, please continue to treat me like your kid sister. " Anu pleaded, her voice laden with emotions.
"Don't worry yourself my beauty queen, I will help you to take this tyrant. Come let's go to my house. The police will take him away."
"Oh no please Jide, I can't go with you. He is my husband and…"
"Shut up your mouth, you witch, adulterer like you. Well I will come back for my revenge you ingrate." Bayo snapped at Anu.
"Officers, please take him away. I will meet you at the station. He is a violent man, no doubt." Babajide gave the command.
That was how Bayo was taken to the police station for questioning.
Jide drove away but not without giving his complementary card to Anu.
"My beauty queen, you can be sure that he will be released by tomorrow morning. Don't bother yourself. I just want to teach him a lesson he will never forget. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me."
Anu stood there by the balcony of the house feeling dejected. She was supposed to be happy but she felt bad.
Why did she allow Jide to take her husband away? What will people say about her? If Bayo returned, wouldn't he send her packing? Is it not better for her to return to her father's house? Many questions were troubling her mind.
"Sister Anu! Sister Anu! My sister! " Iyin kept on shouting her name.
"Oh my God, who do I have here?" Anu hugged her only brother, refusing to let him go.
"What is the problem my sis? Your thoughts seemed far away. My spirit longed to see you and that's why I am here." Iyin uttered.
"My brother, it is the nudging of the holy spirit. I felt so lonely and wished for good company and lo and behold, the Lord sent you to comfort me." Anu realized and was comforted.
She recounted her bitter experience with her brother.
"Kai, this is trouble. I am not surprised at all. I did all within my power to dissuade you from marrying the animal, but you were adamant. Look at this problem you've encountered. If not for Mr Jide Badmus, you would have been beaten by the fool again. But why are you sad?"
"Hmm, my brother, you know that he is still my husband."
Iyin broke out in hysterical laughter.
"Husband? When did he pay your dowry?"
"Iyin, I have been handed over to him by my mother. He gave her some money and that's like part payment of my dowry. I'm kind of sorry for myself. My life has been hellish." Anu voiced out in pain.
"Oh no, stop confessing negative words. Pastor said we should meditate on the Word of God. It will help our confession. Your life is not miserable but beautiful. Do you know that you are already a Medical student?"
"Hey my bros, give me five!" Anu screamed, raising her hand up to shake her brother. This is worth celebrating."
"Yes now! Please let us go inside and eat. I'm famished.
"Wait, who will sponsor my education?"
"God is your father. He will do it my sister."
