IYIN'S POV Wow, this is awesome! I have a sponsor now! Hmm, how I wish my Dad were alive to witness today. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. This indeed is our morning as a family. I was so much lost in thought that I never knew when Uncle Babajide halted, went to the restaurant to buy food, returned with all packages of food for the family. "Here my boy!" I turned to see Uncle Babajide handing over several polythene bags from the restaurant to me. Wow, this is getting wonderful, I thought in my heart. With a wide smile, I collected the food from him. "Wow, uncle Jide, thank you very much. God bless you sir." I exclaimed with surprise written all over my face. I was grinning sheepishly like a slaughtered Christmas goat. You know what I mean. For a young boy that has not seen such extravagance. "Do put it in a far mind, boy. And by the way, what do you want to study in the university?" Uncle Jide asked feeling amused and somehow pleased with the way everything is going to his advantage. "Hmm, I've been thinking of studying, em, em, Architecture. I'm always inspired by special building designs. Moreover, I love drawing things." I responded, with so much zest. The thought of my mom not bothering about school fees was making me happy. I was kind of tired of being sent home to collect school fees. Now I will probably be the first to pay. My spirit leaped for joy. But wait a minute! Someone says we should not take favours for granted. There are always one thousand and one reasons why someone you do not know showers favours. Then what are the possible reasons why this man from nowhere feels he should sponsor me and my sister? Wait Oh! Could it be for ulterior motive? What of if the man wants to sleep with my sister? Could it be love? Ha, does he wants to marry her or just use and dump her? Knowing how beautiful my sister is, he may want to use her as an ordinary girlfriend. If he is interested in marriage, will he accept Ayomide? Hmm, does he know Christ? My sister should marry a believer and not give herself to an ordinary man. All these thoughts were going through my heart. "Hey penny for your thoughts, my boy!" Uncle Jide jolted me to reality. "Oh my God, I never knew we have returned to the hospital. I was carried away by your benevolence. But sir, can I just ask you a question if you don't mind." "Well young mind, what is your question?" "Sir, why are you doing all these things for us?" "Ha ha, I never knew I was dealing with an intelligent boy. Bravo my boy!" Uncle Jide declared. "I'm a philanthropist by nature. I help vulnerable, poor, people. I also got attracted to a young lady that is barely twenty years who claimed to have married a man. A man who dehumanises her. I also feel that I have to help her come out of the prison of enslaved Marriage. I discovered that she was not truly Married because no dowry or bride pride has been paid. She deserves the best and I must make sure, she gets the best." I did not know when I started to clap vigorously. "Bravo! Bravo sir. I'm proud of you sir. God bless you sir. Now I know. You have my cooperation." "See this young mind talking like an adult." "Thank you for the compliment sir." We entered my sister's ward and saw her seated on the bed, looking pale and dejected, while my mom was on the chair, gazing into her eyes, thanking God for bringing her to life. "I cannot imagine losing you to the cold hands of death, my daughter. I thank God for doing this for me." She closed her hands together in prayer. She turned towards us as we entered with Uncle Babajide. "Welcome back my son. God bless you and reward you." Mrs Moji prayed for Jide. "Amen ma. Here please take these for yourselves. Iyin and I will be going to refresh in my house. By the way, Anu, how are you doing?" She nodded and refused to talk. A lot must be going through her mind. "Sister Anu, please cheer up now. God has taken control of everything." I rushed to embrace her. She gave me a faint smile. "Anu, please cheer up now, like your brother has spoken. You will go for screening in the university by next week. I have undertaken to take care of all your needs. Do you understand?" He declared. "Yes sir. Thank you very much. My family and I are most grateful." Anu whispered enough for everyone to hear. "Don't mention. Iyin will be going with me to Lagos, because I only come here briefly for business. He will live with me, if you don't mind ma. He told me a lot about the family." "Please my son, how about your wife, do you think she will be happy? Not every woman wants the husband to help others, moreover a lady is involved. Have you told her? Hmm, I don't want any problem for my children please." "Mama, I am a single man!" "What!" Moji shouted in surprise. Babajide looked like a thirty-five year old man. Sister Anu and we're stupefied to hear he is still single at his age. I sighed deeply, bending my head. Single and still searching? What do you think? Dear reader, please continue to read and share your comments. Thank you very much.
