Anu was discharged from the hospital, feeling hale and hearty. She was over the moon, by the thought that she would become a medical student in the prestigious university of Ibadan. This was the first university in Nigeria, said to have started in 1948. Abbreviated as U.I , known to be the best for medical students. They have University College Hospital.(UCH) to learn the practicals. Anu resumed in the university of Ibadan as a medical student in November, with high hopes that her six years on campus will produce one of the best doctors in her. Babajide Badmus made good his promise and took Iyin with him to complete his Secondary School, and gave Anu a sum of two hundred thousand naira to start off in the university. So you can say that she lacked nothing. I'm sure you've been wondering about Bayo, her husband. Hmm, Bayo became a shadow of himself. He resorted to drinking. One of the days, while Bayo was drinking in the cool evening, in one of the beer parlours in town, Femi Badmus, was driving to Bayo's house in order to see Anu since he exposed Bayo as the father of Ayomide, then he saw Bayo in the beer parlour. He reversed his car because he was on a high speed, and alighted from the Toyota Camry. "This guy looks like Femi Badmus. Could he be the one?" Bayo mumbled to himself. He saw the dude opened the front door, and came out looking fresh and handsome. "Bayo, long time no see!" Femi hailed him pretending as if they were still friends. "Ha ha, are you here to arrest me again?" "Haba, dude, you are my guy now. I was just feeling guilty about Anu's condition. She needed to know the truth. Okay my guy, don't be angry. I'm sorry for what happened. Where is Anu now?" Femi asked with a smile. "Well, my man, that one is over. As for Anu, she is no longer with me. She is with her mom. But I heard that her mom has Married her off to one billionaire who lives in Lagos. She is no more here in Ile-Ife. "No! No! This can't be! Ha ha, how could she dump me like that?" Femi cried out. He was visibly shaken. All eyes in the beer parlour riveted on him. "Take am easy oh, Mr Man. Na woman matter you dey carry for your head?( Take it easy, Mr Man, don't trouble yourself about woman) One of the drunk spoke to Femi. "Femi, are you okay? Why are you crying more than the bereaved. I should be the one in sorrow, or is there something I should know? I'm missing something here. No wonder, so Anu has been cheating, committing adultery with you, my friend?" "Look here, Anu was never yours. You are just a thief that crept in subtly to take my wife. I don't know why I am here talking with a shit like you." He hissed, entered his car and drove off with fury. "Good riddance to bad rubbish. Get away! Can you imagine this?" Bayo rained curses on Femi. FEMI POV How could Anu, a lady I had been thinking would be mine at last, Jilt me like this? Who is the man that swept her off her feet? Is he rich and handsome more than me? Oh oh ! This is not funny at all. Ha ha, she has to be mine. I will not take this. Whoever has my girl must release her. I drove straight to her mom's house and luckily I met her feeding Ayomide. My anger rose up, the mere sight of the boy provoked me. Can you imagine. The father is out there drinking himself to stupor. Irresponsible idiot. "Good afternoon ma." I bowed for her in respect, though fuming inside. "Oh, my dear son. Ha, good afternoon. Your face seems familiar but I can't remember where I know you." She replied, gazing into my eyes with a squint. I knew she was trying to recall my face. "Mama, I was the man they called Corper the other time. I came to inform Anu about the paternity of her son." "Oh my God, I have forgotten your face. Eh! Please forgive me my son. It is old age. Welcome." "Thank you ma. I actually came to see Anu. Please tell her that Femi Badmus is around." "Ha, my son, she has gone to school of medicine." "What did you just say Mama?" I stood there petrified. After sometime I was able to recover myself from the shock. "Which university is that ma?" I asked to be sure she knows what she is saying. "Hmm, it's university of Ibadan, my dear." "Oh! Well I guess I should tell you congratulations then." "Thank you, it's in order. " "Okay ma, take care of yourself." I left the face calmly as if a cold water had been poured on me. I entered the car and bent my head on the steering. Could you believe that I couldn't move the vehicle for almost an hour. Then a call came through, which jolted me back to reality.
