"May we now call witness Jung Jae-seong to the stand to testify", the judge announced as Jae-seong stood up and approached the said stand. "Witness, please recite the oath", the judge said as Jae-seong picked up the folder in front of her and raised her right hand up. "I swear to be true to my conscience and not add or subtract from the facts. If I lie, I agree to accept the penalty of perjury", Jae-seong recited. "Prosecutor, you may now question the witness", the judge gave the go signal as the prosecutor hurriedly stood up and walked towards her. "It is stated here that you were abducted by this man just a few days back, can you tell us what happened in detail", the prosecutor asked. "Yes. It was the night we arrived from our trip in Denmark. Me and my boyfriend decided to go to the local fair as we didn't really like to go home just yet. Just before sunset, my boyfriend had the idea to buy us drinks leaving me for a while at the spot we sat at. Just as I reached for my phone in my pocket, someone suddenly placed a hand covering my eyes and a handkerchief over my mouth and nostrils", Jae-seong explained. "And did the handkerchief had a scent", the prosecutor asked. "Yes, the one that made me dizzy and weak incredibly fast", Jae-seong answered. "Chloroform. An abundance of this substance were collected from the suspect's hideouts", the prosecutor said facing the judge and pointing at the screen where they flashed a picture of the said substance. "What happened after that Ms. Jung", the prosecutor continued to ask. "The next thing I know, I woke up in his house, I suppose, with two other men with him", Jae-seong said looking at the defendant with blank eyes. "That would be all your honor", the prosecutor said before heading back. "Defendant, would you wish to cross examine", the judge asked looking at the lawyer. "Yes, your honor", the lawyer responded standing up and walking towards Jae-seong. "An abduction is being taken by force which means the victim is taken unwillingly. If you were abducted, then why did you show no sign of resistance", the lawyer asked making Jae-seong uncontrollably let out a chuckle. The lawyer then looked confused all of a sudden. "I'm sorry your honor", Jae-seong apologized covering her mouth and coughing out in order to regain composure. "Is the sign of resistance the only basis in order to call it an abduction? I showed no sign of resistance whatsoever because I am practical. What is the point of screaming and possibly getting injured if I make a fuss when I am certain that there are people who will look for me and rescue me? It is still completely normal to remain calm and collected in such situations, just so you know", Jae-seong snapped answering the lawyer's question which sparked the whispers in the whole room the judge and the prosecutor nodded their heads. "How did you even pass your exams when you are this incompetent", Jae-seong whispered towards the lawyer as the shock was evident. "That would be all your honor", the lawyer said almost stuttering. "Prosecutor, would you like to proceed questioning the witness", the judge asked. "No, that would be all your honor", the prosecutor responded smiling at Jae-seong and giving her two thumbs up. "If that's the case, may the defendant give their final statement", the judge said as Jae-seong left the stand and proceeded back to her seat. "Were you a lawyer in your past life", Taeyong asked who was sitting behind her. "Maybe. I wish I was", Jae-seong answered chuckling. "You made the lawyer look so dumb... you are really on another level", Mark whispered who was sitting beside her. "I actually felt sorry for the guy", Jae-seong said which confused Taeyong. "Why would you feel sorry for a criminal", Taeyong asked leaning forward towards her. "His family is rich and powerful yet they won't even give him a decent lawyer to defend him. He could easily counter my response earlier and could easily discredit me as a witness and honestly I was waiting for him to do that like bring up Chan or whatever but he didn’t even which to me shows how incompetent he is", Jae-seong lengthily explained. "That is their family lawyer. They are so used to bribing each and everyone in the courtroom whenever they would get caught, like the judge would allow them to do a settlement and even force the complainant to accept the settlement, that when it comes to an actual trial like this, they end up looking dumb and incompetent", Taeyong explained making Jae-seong see picture as a whole now. "Sucks being him", Mark commented which made Jae-seong chuckle.
