Chapter 51

A bullet hit Ramil in his right arm. His blood was still flowing from it. Two minutes after Ythan clicked the gun, the police immediately responded. They immediately applied first aid to him.
 "YOU HAVE NO CONSCIENCE! IF IT WASN'T FOR ME YOU WOULD BE ASHES FOR A LONG TIME!" Ythan shouted furiously. He was caught in the act so he couldn't deny his crime anymore.
 "Conscience? Ha! Are you kidding me? You're the reason why I became separated from my family! Did you think we didn't already know? You're the real arsonist! You're never satisfied, you animal! You even cheated on your wife! You made her believe that Freya and I are dead! Now, tell me, do I need to repay your said kindness?” Ramil snorted. If his hand wasn't bleeding and aching, he would have punched Ythan earlier.
 "Do you think you can put me in jail? I can afford to pay bail!" Ythan laughed out loud.
 "Bail? As far as I know, the kidnapping case isn't bailable! Besides, you won't be facing just one case. I will make sure that you will rot in prison!" said Ramil. He looked very sharp at Ythan. If staring was deadly, Ythan's blood would have spilled onto the floor long ago. Anyone who saw him now could feel the flames of anger engulfing his entire system.
 "Just kill me," Ythan said softly.
 "Death is painful but nothing is more painful than an unending agony, shame and having no freedom at all. Don't worry, if you die inside the prison...I'm sure you will die again and again in the sea of fire," said Ramil. "Alright, take this devil to jail!" he said to the police.
 When Ythan was walking, Ramil noticed that the keys had almost fallen out of the back pocket of his pants.
 "Just a moment!" Ramil quickly walked closer to Ythan. The arsonist is still struggling with the police. He took the keys from Ythan’s pants pocket.
 "Don't touch my belongings!" Ythan growled. "Aren't you going to take the keys back from him? That's theft!" he snorted at the police.
 The police shook their heads.
 "You are all useless!" Ythan shouted loudly.
 Ramon, who had just arrived, gave Ythan a series of furious blows. "You're a murderer! You killed Galvez! You're going to die! You have no right to live!" His face was very red because of so much anger.
 While Ramon was making his way out of the basement earlier, one of Tamahome's friends called him. He reported that they found the lifeless personal bodyguard of Mr. Ythan Marcus near its secret hideout. The cause of Galvez's death turned out to be murder. They stabbed him over and over again until he lost consciousness, until he lost his pulse.
 A demonic laugh escaped Ythan's mouth. "Are you so angry? Don't you do the same to the people who betrayed you?" he said with wide eyes.
 Ramon brought his face closer to Ythan's face. "We're not alike. I'm human. You're just a…demon pretending to be human," he said softly but with emphasis.
 Ythan growled in anger. He spat on the floor. He was about to insult Ramon but he suddenly rained punches on him.
 "For Ramil." Ramon punched Ythan. "For Rhea." He punched him again. "For Freya." Another blow. He jumped. "And the strongest one is for Josie."
 Ythan's lips are full of blood. His eyes are also swollen due to the punches he received from Ramon.
 Ramil just watched what his brother did. If only he wasn't injured, they probably would have helped Ythan. "Those punches are not enough for all your crimes!" he yelled.
 The police left with Ythan carrying him like a wilted vegetable. As he walked, beads of blood from his face dripped onto the floor.
 "Young man, go with my staff to the hospital first. You need to be treated," Ramon said worriedly.
 "I'm fine, kuya." Ramil turned around. "Rhea? Did you see her in the basement?" he asked.
 Ramon shook his head.
 "Let's search the other rooms inside this mansion, kuya. I have the keys," said Ramil.
 Ramon was encouraged. He remembered the secret door in the basement.
 "Come. Come with me. I seem to know which door we need to open first," said Ramon. He approached Ramil and helped him walk.
 "I can take care of myself, kuya," said Ramil.
 "Are you sure?" asked Ramon.
 Ramil nodded.
 "Alright. Let's go! I have a strong hunch that your wife is in that room," said Ramon.
 ~~~
 "Set, come here," said Don Vandolf.
 "Why, senior? Are you sick?" Set asked worriedly.
 "Nothing. Send my doctor here. I need to talk to him. Hurry up," ordered Don Vandolf.
 Set frowned. 'Why, senior? Do you feel some pain somewhere in your body?' he thought.
 "What are you waiting for? Go!" Don Vandolf yelled.
 Set was surprised so he quickly left his master's room to look for the doctor.
 Don Vandolf let out a series of sighs. He was looking into nothingness.
 "I don't want death to reach the four corners of this room. I need to go home to the Philippines." Don Vandolf turned his attention to his new cell phone. It vibrated. "Who could be calling?" he said before picking up his cell phone. "Diana?"
 Don Vandolf ended Diana's call and placed his cell phone on the table again. He still had a lot of resentment towards his only daughter. He couldn't accept that she chose Hulyo as her lover. He had high dreams for his unica hija but it was ruined by her sharing a bed with his personal bodyguard.
 Don Vandolf picked up his cell phone again to turn off Diana's call. He did it over and over again. He was about to turn off his cell phone completely when a message from his unica hija suddenly popped up.
 Don Vandolf has already seen the preview of Diana's message. His hands were shaking as he pressed his cell phone to go to the inbox. His eyes widened at what he read, followed by tears. He joined his hands together, flat, with fingers extended, right thumb over left.
 "Thank you, Lord! Thank you!" Don Vandolf said while his tears continued to gush down on his cheeks.
 Set hastily arrives with the doctor assigned to Don Vandolf.
 "Senior! Why are you crying? Did something happen? Are you hurt?" Set asked one after the other after running to his boss.
 "Set, prepare our passports and book a flight to the Philippines." Don Vandolf averted his gaze to his doctor. "I need your permission to leave, doc. I am more than willing to sign a waiver," he said.
 "B-but, senior...you haven't yet—"
 "My decision is final, Set. Whether the doctor agrees or not, I will leave or I will leave," said Don Vandolf.
 "Does Sir Jacob already know this? Will call–"
 "Set, you don't need to call him. I'll call him myself later. Do what I tell you to do. Hurry up!" Don Vandolf's voice rose slightly. He glared at Set causing him to act immediately.
 "John Vandolf Gray, you need to stay here until your condition improves. You are my patient. You need to follow my decision regarding your con—"
 "If that's the case, I will call the management to change my doctor," Don Vandolf said, smiling.
 "You can't do that," the doctor disagreed.
 "Yes, I can. Doc, sometimes there's more important than life. I am going to die anyway so please, I'm begging you. Let me do what I want. For the first time in my life, I am willing to bend my knees to someone whom I just met. My life…they're not here. They're in my hometown," Don Vandolf said as he wiped his tears.
 The doctor was speechless. Even Set was in tears. He could feel how much Don Vandolf wanted to return to the Philippines.
 "I'll ask my secretary to prepare the waiver. You need to sign it before you g–" The doctor was surprised when Don Vandolf suddenly hugged him. Even Set was surprised by what happened.
 "I am thankful beyond words, doc. I will not forget your kindness. I will not forget this moment. Thank you so much," Don Vandolf said. He's still crying but a smile can be seen from his face. 'Thank you lord. Thank you for giving this wicked man another chance. I promise, I am not going to waste it,' he thought.
