???: “There….Is….No…..Escape….” Jake: “Who are you?” Floating around an unknown place, Jake looks around the area, scanning for anyone, only to see the nothingness surrounding him. Slowly, darkness consumes every bit of light. Jake desperately tried to run but was deemed impossible. Soon, a colossal figure appeared before Jake, bending its upper body down closer to Jake. ???: “Chaos…is…. inevitable…Jake….” Confused about the situation, Jake questions the being. Jake: “WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?” The question that came out of Jake’s mouth was left unanswered. The being pulled his head back up, raising its right hand to his left side, swinging it directly at Jake. Jake couldn’t escape from the being’s attack range and could only block. Blocking the incoming attack, Jake could feel every bone from his arms to his chest break. Jake spat blood out before he was sent flying off into the void. His momentum gradually decays, and Jake is yet again left floating in the void. Lying in nothingness, Jake questions about life. Moments later, another familiar sound started going off into the distance. Jake did not find it annoying and slowly dozed off. As Jake closed his eyes, the sound got louder and louder, to the point that it could be heard from within his head. The sound becomes clearer as Jake opens his eyes, waking up from what seemed to be a nightmare. Jake sat on his bed, looking at his hands, wondering about his dream and how he could remember every moment and detail. Jarvis: “Had a bad dream?” Jake: “Not really.” Jarvis: “C'mon, don’t lie to me. What was it?” Jake: “How do you know I’m lying?” Jarvis: “Your heart rate spiked 3 hours ago. I doubt it was a normal dream.” Jake remained silent for a while. Jake: “It felt so real. I was in a void-like place, and this colossal being appeared before me. It had no facial features. It said that ‘ there is no escape and that chaos was inevitable’ before smacking me into the void to drift.” Jarvis: “Maybe it’s a sign for something?” Jake: “I hope not.” Getting out of bed, Jake went to his laptop to find online courses to enrol in. Jarvis: “Seems like someone is being productive.” Jake: “Well, still gotta survive, am I right? Plus, it will be more of a waste of money if I enrol in another school again, and there aren’t any free community colleges nearby. Buying an online course means I can do it anytime without worrying about skipping classes to fight monsters.” Jarvis: “For once, you did something smart.” Jake: “Man, shut up.” Jake: “Let’s see. Ah, an IT course. Python coding. It has 100 chapters, and it’s on sale.” Upon enrolling in the course, Jake spent a few hours on the first three chapters, watching and practising the video guide lessons. After finishing the three chapters, Jake closed off his laptop and opened a portal to the Astral realm to continue his training. As Jake tries to enter the portal, he is denied entry. Jake: “Why can I not go in the portal?” Jarvis: “Could there be a malfunction or something?” Jake: “Is there a parasite in me? Jarvis, scan my whole body.” Jarvis: “Scanning in progress………Scanning complete…..No found abnormalities.” Jake: “Well, that’s both relieving and concerning. Something else must be causing the portal to deny me entry.” Jarvis: “I’ll try to contact my creator for help…. Something is jamming my signal; I can’t reach him from here.” Jake: “Guess the Astral realm prevents communication with the outside world.” Jarvis: “Guess we’re on our own to solve this issue.” On the other side. Daeden: “This kid must be slacking now. Why didn’t I make a robot instead.” Back at the overworld. Jake: “ACHOOO! Ugh.” Jarvis: “Guess someone has someone talking bad about them.” Jake: “Man, shut up. Now then, where can I find help?” Jarvis: “Maybe you can visit a Shaman?” Jake: “I don’t know any Shamans, though.” They were sitting down on the couch, thinking about their next move. The doorbell rang. Jake: “Who is it?” Jake got up and looked through the peephole, and he saw a man in a trench coat placing a note on the floor. The man notices Jake looking through the peephole and gives Jake an eerie smile. Jake blinks for a second, looking back at the peephole. The man is gone. Jake opened the door to find nothing but neighbours walking around. Jake panned his head towards the floor tile and saw a small note left by the man. Jake picked it up and read it. Jake: “If you wish to know the truth, come to the mountains at Slung Valley, and I will show you what you desire to find.” Jarvis: “Guess we're going.” Jake: “Does this not sound sketchy to you?” Jarvis: “Of course I do. The coincidence that you needed a Shaman and a strange random dude stops by your home, dropping off a note that says it will show you the truth, means it’s a sign.” Jake: “A sign that going here will show me the answers I want?” Jarvis: “Exactly. Worst case scenario, you become a three-course meal. But we can ignore that.” Hesitating for a bit, Jake finally decides to trust Jarvis and meet this stranger in the mountains of Slung Valley. Jake: “This is such a bad idea.” Jarvis: “Pfft, it’ll be fine. The writer wouldn’t let us die like that.” Jake: “Who?” Jarvis: “Just forget about it, it’ll be fine.” Jake: “K….I wanna quickly get this over with.” Jarvis: “Man, just relax, It’s a Saturday. Plus, you got nowhere to go anyways or any other day.” Jake: “What about work?” Jarvis: “Man, you already got fired from that job yesterday. Don’t bother.” Jake: “Since when did this happen?” Jarvis: “Since you went to sleep and didn’t check your phone.” Jake pulled out his phone to check his WhatsApp and found his boss's message. He was fired for failing to attend work for a few days. Jake: “Man, this superhero stuff is hard.” Jarvis: “Imma just started looking for the place.” Jake: “Sure….I guess.”
