Chapter 2 An odd feeling
But the slight admiration that had formed in Daichi's heart vanished when he saw that Shuhei was glaring at Yua, who was hiding behind him.
Daichi's face became serious. When he reprimanded Shuhei, he acted in a senior's manner.
"What are you doing? Why are you glaring at Miyagi-san?"
Shuhei turned to face Daichi and met his fierce expression.
Shuhei remarked, "I didn't do as she said." Even though he was explaining in a calm manner, it seemed like he was whining.
Daichi scowled. "Really? Then why are you glaring at her? Would you rather try to mislead the facts and frighten her?"
The whispers of the conversation changed once more after Daichi's accusation. Many anticipated a brawl between the two equally popular camps, which were meeting for the first time. Akira in particular was extremely concerned that his fiery friend would act rashly and abruptly strike the other side.
But it was not like that for the audience who was waiting tensely. In a nonchalant response to the charges, Shuhei said, "I was annoyed with her."
Shuhei said something that caused Daichi to gape in a haughty manner.
"Ha? You say you are upset? For what reason are you upset? Is it because she doesn't like you back?" Daichi was stunned.
Shuhei replied; "why should I be upset with her because she doesn't like me back? The one who confessed was her."
Nobody had anticipated Shuhei's response.
Daichi was as well, not realizing that Yua was the one who had confessed to Shuhei. Daichi was about to accept Shuhei's words when he felt a soft tug on the hem of his shirt, causing him to stop thinking.
Daichi turned his head, and Yua looked at him with eyes still glazed over.
"That's not true. Please, Nishiyama-senpai, believe me. I never confess to him ...."
Daichi instantly threw off the uncomfortable look on his face. He gave a warm, characteristic smile, tugging at the corners of his lips.
"It's okay, I believe you. He is lying, and I know it."
"Really?" Yua moved a little forward and pressed herself firmly against Daichi's chest. "Thank you, Nishiyama-senpai. You are really understanding and kind."
Naturally, Daichi was flattered by Yua's compliment. He returned Yua's hug with a proud expression.
"Since I'm so kind, then... what's your answer?"
Yua realized Daichi was inquiring about the love declaration from yesterday. The girl nodded while keeping her face against Daichi's chest.
"Yes, senpai. I love you too."
Things went from tense to sweet with bubbles of love very quickly. Whether there was a fight or not did not matter to the audience. They could only follow along as the mood shifted. Congratulating the couple who had just officially tied the knot.
Before disappearing, Shuhei gave the couple a perplexed glance in silence.
The odd glint in Shuhei's eyes went completely unnoticed.

The rumor that first-grader Yua Miyagi and third-grader Daichi Nishiyama were dating quickly went viral. Everything about it was supposed to be routine. However, everyone talked about Daichi and Yua's breakup because Shuhei Yoshimoto, another well-liked student, was a part of the story.
This is known as the fabled rivalry love triangle.
The love triangle was unimportant to the chunibyo Daichi. To him, it meant he had defeated Shuhei Yoshimoto in the charm department as long as he was the one who obtained Yua Miyagi.
"My romantic career has more luck than his! Hehe! I triumphed!"

Daichi was going to pick Yua up this morning so they could go to school together. There was more to his actions than just his deep affection for Yua, especially if he didn't want Shuhei to see them.
Daichi waited at the station after sending Yua an email first. Yua showed up after about five minutes.
"Hi, Nishiyama-senpai! Good morning!"
"Good morning, Miyagi-san."
They walked hand in hand after exchanging greetings.
"How long did you wait?" Yua inquired.
"No, I didn't. I also just got here."
"I'm so glad. Senpai, all I was worried about was making you wait."
On a hill stood their school. Every time they came and went, they had to go up a flight of stairs.
Daichi felt strangely unsure of how to break the awkward atmosphere between them, even though the journey was still quite lengthy.
"The sky is clear. This must be a really hot day." Beside him, Yua grumbled.
Daichi looked up as well, nodding in concurrence. "Yes, it appears that it will be very hot."
"Senpai, did you have breakfast?"
"Ah... not yet."
Yua frowned. "Why?"
"Because I am not used to eating in the morning," Daichi answered.
"I see. But, senpai, skipping breakfast is bad for your health. You might experience stomach issues in the future. So, please remember to eat your breakfast before leaving next time."
Yua's attention was warm, but Daichi was not pleased.
"Yes, I will," he replied casually. Thank you for the reminder."
When the two arrived at school, they drew the attention of many other students. Some of them openly teased the newlyweds.
"Yo, Nishiyama. Coming to school with your girlfriend makes you smell like pink bubbles!" One of the students, Daichi's next-class acquaintance, cracked a joke.
"Yes. Then you should try it, Kouki." Daichi responded.
Daichi's response immediately reminded Kouki of a previous rejection.
"Why are you poking at the pain point...?" Kouki retorted.
Akira appeared out of nowhere, joining in on the teasing as well.
"Dai-chan, do not forget to pay the date tax!" he teased.
"I'll pay it, but not including you."
"Why, I mean, I am your friend, right?"
"I dont have to split the date tax with you precisely because you are my friend."
"You are so cruel, Dai-chan!"
Akira wore a glum expression. But Daichi realized it was all a joke.
Daichi looked at Yua.
"Come on," he said, "I will walk you to class."
But Yua didn't move. "What is the matter?"
Daichi was curious. He followed the girl's gaze, then met the cold, dark eyes of the young man standing not far away.
Shuhei Yoshimoto.
The low hum of teasing began to change into whispers of tension. Everyone was watching Daichi and Shuhei alternately, waiting to see what would happen.
Shuhei just stood there, looked briefly at Daichi, and continued his walk towards the school building.
Daichi was actually prepared in case Shuhei said something. Unfortunately, the young man simply walked away, leaving him speechless for a moment.
"Uh, Yoshimoto didn't say anything?" One of the students said something in hushed tones.
"What did you expect?" her friend inquired.
"At the very least, they exchanged words!" After all, he and Nishiyama are the two most popular guys squabbling over a girl!"
Her friend agreed with a nod. "You are right...,"
"Senpai," Yua's voice startled Daichi.
"Yes?"
"You don't need to walk me to class. I can go by myself."
The young man realized Yua was attempting to dispel this strange atmosphere.
"That's fine. "First grade is on the ground floor, and I pass it every day, so it is not a problem."
"However, Nishiyama-senpai, I'm concerned that you will meet Shuhei Yoshimoto."
"So what if I meet him? Didn't I just meet him?"
"Yes...,"
"OK, it is decided. Let's go."

The third graders went to the lab room during physics class and practiced a small experiment for evaluation. Students were paired up, and Daichi was fortunate to be paired with Akira.
What made that so fortunate? Because Akira was very good at this. Daichi, on the other hand, was completely unaware of this and simply left everything in Akira's hands.
Daichi sat down on the practice table because he was bored. "Akiran, please tell me why I still feel like there is something odd about it," he said as he watched Akira install this and that device.
"What do you mean?" Akira didn't take his gaze away from his work.
"About what happened on the basketball court. You told me Shuhei Yoshimoto confessed his love to Yua first, did not you? Yoshimoto then revealed that it was Yua who confessed to him... "I thought that was odd," Daichi explained.
"It's just your feelings."
"Is that so? But I'm pretty sure that is not how it happened!" Daichi sighed and yawned.
Akira looked helpless at him. "I don't feel anything unusual, Dai-chan. Yua, after all, is already with you, right? What else are you digging up?"
Daichi furrowed his brow and shook his head. "I don't know."
"Then why are you bringing up this topic?" Akira was irritated and wanted to punch Daichi in the head. "Stop bothering me, it is almost over."
"Hehe, sorry, Akiran."
"And please, no more N in my name." Akira warned.
Daichi complied by closing his mouth. But his heart was still churning, as if there was something mysterious about yesterday's incident.Download Novelah App
