Chapter forty four
44
Just minutes later, as I was walking, I saw Kris' car zoom passed me.
Sure. That was definitely expected of him to leave me behind. Jerk!
I walked and walked till it started to get dark around me.
The area, indeed, was very scary. Now I'm just silently wishing I followed Kris back to his mansion.
I hope I don't find myself in a pickle.
I stopped at a nearby bench and sat on it. I'll just have to stay here till morning comes and I will try and find my way out.
A cold hand touched my shoulder and when I looked at the face of the person I almost shrieked but I held myself together.
It was a young man with tattoos all over his body and piercings on his nose, ear and lower lip.
His hair was dyed blue and yellow and he wore clothes that looked like torn rags.
Even the rags maids used to clean our windows had more hope of being used as clothes than what this man was wearing.
"Good evening young lady." he greeted.
I nodded.
The man sat beside me.
"What are you doing here all alone?" he asked me.
"Nothing." I answered him.
"This place is really dangerous. Did you come here all alone? I mean, didn't you come with someone?" he asked me.
"No." I gave a straight answer.
"Well then, if you have no place to stay then you can sleep over at my home for the night." the man offered.
I shook my head and said "no."
"I'm fine where I am. Thank you for your help." I said to him.
"Come on in with me. I'm doing you a favour and you're behaving this way? Follow me." the man said, while holding my wrist tightly.
I tried pulling my arm out of his grip but he just held on tighter and my eyes got watery.
"Let me go!" I yelled.
"Come on beautiful. I have something better for you." he said.
The man got up and started to drag me along with him.
"Help! Somebody! Anybody! Please help me!" I screamed out my lungs but no one came.
While the man dragged me on, I saw Kris appear from an alley and he quickly threw a punch at the man.
My arm was released and I ran into Kris' arms, crying into his chest while he held me in an embrace.
"It's alright. Everything is going to be fine." Kris assured me.
I pushed away from him and looked at him, now with angry tears.
"I saw you drive off. You abandoned me." I complained.
"I didn't. I was watching you the entire time. I had only called my driver to take my car." Kris explained.
"Watch out!" Kris yelled and pushed me aside.
The man he had punched stabbed Kris' arm with a penknife but Kris still managed with just one arm and fought the man off.
I quickly ran to him when it was over and took out my phone to call an ambulance.
I didn't really know the number and Kris struggled to call it out for me.
While we waited, I tore off part of my cloth and wrapped it round the wounded area like I've seen in a movie before and was taught that it stops the excess blood spilling.
It's a good thing the strange man hadn't left the knife in Kris' arm or else I would have not known what next step to take.
Kris POV
I couldn't help but stare at this fake Kira as she wrapped part of her cloth around the wounded area of my arm.
I was falling for her so deep.
I never wanted her to leave but I know she had no choice. I know she loves me back but shout couldn't stay with me.
After all, I was still investigating before I found out that she, according to the real Kira's wish, has to keep divorcing after one year.
One thing this fake Kira doesn't know is that I hadn't signed the divorce papers and I never will.
She will remain mine forever and I will claim her was I am done investigating and finding out the true core cause of this mess as well.
Mr and Mrs Donaldson had bribed judges in the past after being discovered in some shady businesses and I'm sure their letting them own daughter to be treated this way has something connected to that past.
The ambulance arrived and I went inside with them. The ambulance had already hit the road before I could notice that Kira wasn't inside with us.
Did she just refuse to accompany me? No, she couldn't. Not after what had happened minutes ago. Why didn't she get in then? Something is wrong.
I told the sitting there in the ambulance with me to turn the vehicle around.
They hesitated and didn't want to.
"Your injury needs urge to treatment sir." one of them said.
"My... The lady with me didn't get in." I said.
"We have to go back and get her. That place is dangerous." I added.
"I had seen her turn back after attempting to get in." Another person said.
"Turn the vehicle around!" I ordered and they decided to listen.
When we returned I couldn't find her anywhere close. Maybe she just wanted to stay away.
Kendra POV
The ambulance got to where we were in ten minutes and Kris went in.
I wanted to follow him in but remembered my luggage was still at the bench so I returned to get it.
On getting there, I was about taking the luggage went someone put a hankie over my nose and held me tight from behind.
I felt myself slowly loose consciousness as my vision began to blur till I couldn't see anything but darkness.
I woke up in my room at my parents' mansion and was only wondering what had happened.
I only remembered being... wait...
How did I get here? Who did that to me earlier?
I was about going get up from my bed but felt something cold pull me back.
My right leg was chained to my bed, in my own room, under my parents' roof. What the hell is happening?! Download Novelah App
