Chapter forty seven
47
I settled in my room and couldn't think of anything else but my ankle at the moment.
The picture of my daughter fell out of a side pocket of my luggage and I quickly picked it up.
Mommy will be strong for you my dearest.
I wiped off the tears in me yes and quickly put the picture back. I couldn't risk my parents getting any ideas of using my own daughter to threaten me.
She was the one person I could reach the ends of the world for and it would be tragic for me if Mirabella was harmed in any way possible.
Kira POV
It was night time and I was trying my best to fall asleep but where do all these memories keep flooding in from?
I have no idea.
I held on to my aching head as the memories came in without my being able to control myself.
... Flashback...
After the electric shock from inside the container I was kept, I was brought out.
I no longer remembered how I got there or even who these people are. I just stood there, my hand being held by the man in white coat.
I saw a man there in white coat and another there standing next to a woman.
"Is it done?" the man standing next to a woman asked.
"Yes." the one holding my hand answered.
"So where is the duplicate?" the woman asked.
"Right there." the man who was holding my hand said and pointed at a different container close by.
In it, I saw a girl who looked very familiar. That girl had my face.
She looked exactly like me in every area and scared me.
I started to scream and all of a sudden I got knocked out by a hankie which was held against my nose.
Then I couldn't hear or see anything.
...Flashback ends...
I screamed again but this time not in my thoughts. What's going on?! What are all these thoughts in my head?!
Who was that girl from when I was younger?! Who were those two people I called mommy and daddy? Who was that scientist and why was all that happening?
Did all this really happen to me at my young age or am I hallucinating things?
What is wrong with me?... What is wrong with me?... My voice trailed off with each sentence.
I brought out the pills in my drawer and swallowed five. I'm tired of everything.
The pills helped me to finally fall asleep.
UNKNOWN POV
Right at the place I lived. The place I thought no one would ever find me. A place where everyone I was sure nobody would know or even ever knew who I was, someone knocked on my door.
This was a big surprise for me because I've been alone for years ever since...
"Is there anyone in there?" a man's voice asked from the other side of the door.
I wasn't sure what to do and I wasn't ready to get into any form of danger again. This time I would rather be the attacker than the attacked.
I took a frying pan from inside my kitchen and I walked to the door.
I breathed in then out before peeping through to see who it was first but the hole in the door was blocked by the person's palm.
I was sure that something fishy was going on and I was not about to let my guard down.
I opened the door slightly and waited, hiding behind the door itself.
As I had expected, the person on the other side of the door opened it fully and walked in.
He hadn't seen me so I took the chance to hit him hard on the head with a frying pan.
The man dropped to the floor and I closed the door before lifting him from the ground and unto a chair.
I quickly found rope and tied the man the same chair I had placed him on.
After making sure I got all the knots right, I sprinkled water on the man's face.
Slowly but surely, he woke up.
"What the..." the man whispered to himself and tried to touch his head but the rope didn't let him.
"Whats going on here? Why am I tied to a chair?" he asked me.
"What are you here for?" I asked the man.
"I should be the one asking you that." he retorted.
"Well I didn't knock on my own door did I?" I said.
"Untie me." the man said.
"Not until you tell me why you are here." I said to him.
The man struggled to release himself while I watched him do so.
"You really know your knots don't you?" he said.
"Where did you learn how to tie so well?" the man asked.
"That's none of your business." I replied.
"Now speak up." I added.
"Fine." he said and sighed.
"I'm here to ask you some questions. Questions about the Donaldson family." he answered.
His words made my heart to skip a beat and my ears to itch.
"What?! No! They... They are in my past now and I want nothing to do with them." I replied.
"Calm down. I'm just in need of your compliance." the man said to me.
"I need answers and for that I have to go deep and start right from where it all truly began." he added.
"And what do you need me for? You better return to wherever you came from because you won't be getting any answers from me." I said to him.
"You remember Kendra don't you?" the man asked me, causing the feeling of guilt to rush back through my body.
I truly regretted what I had done to Kendra in the past and it still haunts me till this very moment. I wish I could see her and beg her to forgive me but even an apology can never change what had already happened.
"What about her?" I asked the man.
"I want to know why." the man said.
"Why what?" I asked.
"Why you did it." he answered.
