Chapter 29 Jar of hearts
"Hey, aren't you going to get up and eat?" Siren heard a familiar voice but didn't bother to lift her head up.
She closes her eyes to pretend she's sleeping.
Just like the other days, she still lying on her bed. Not wanting to do anything. Though she's not crying, she could feel that another part of herself had died.
She was lying on the left side of the bed. Facing left too.
"Are you going to kill yourself from hunger? What was that hunger strike for?" Felix's voice sounds like an irritating sound of a man who uses loudspeaker when there's a union stike.
Without getting any answer from her, Felix pull the blanket off and threw it on the other side. He then tried to reach his feet to pull her down.
"Leave me alone!" Siren exclaimed.
But Felix didn't give a damn.
The assistant that he appoints to keep Siren's company suddenly called him after lunch. Asking for his help.
He informs him that after Siren moved to her new place, she hadn't even touch any food that the housekeeper was giving her.
She barely talks and staying all day inside her room.
"What's wrong with you? Are having your death wish?" He walk around to her side. Just got to be surprised seeing her pale face.
Is she really wishing to die?
"Siren?" He tapped her thin cheek. He used to seeing her chubby cheeks whenever she's visiting him before, but looking at her face right now, seems like she had changed a lot.
She had dark circles around her eyes and her face was very pale. It was as if her blood was totally drained.
A warm feeling makes Felix's chest tightened. He had never seen her in this state before. She looks like half dead.
He immediately calls Harry. He came in running when he heard him screaming.
"Call a doctor immediately!" He sat on the bed and held Siren upward. Her eyes were closed but he knows that she's not sleeping. "Siren? Open your eyes. Answer me, open your eyes!" He tapped her cheeks again. Feeling agitated. His heart was pounding hard that makes his heavy breathing.
Siren open her eyes but it doesn't look like she's seeing him. A teardrop escape from her eyes when she took a blink.
"I want to die..." She whispered in a soft voice.
Felix's felt a pinch in his heart seeing her so weary.
He rested her head on his chest when she started crying.
"Sshh... Don't say that. Everything's going to be alright..." He rubbed his palm on her back to make her feel relaxed.
It's funny how things turn in an instance. Yes, he hates Siren's dominance, but he also adores her like a child. There are times that he has the urge of wanting to squeeze her neck when she's being bossy, but he also wants to comfort her when she's sad.
When at last, he felt that she's fallen asleep, he gently lay her down on the bed. Her face is in total mess with tears. Her nose becomes reddish but she still so pretty.
Without even realizing it, he caresses her hair gently. Seeing her in her most vulnerable state makes him feel weary too.

"She was refusing any food intake. Her body is so weak and dehydrated." The doctor informs after checking Siren's situation.
"Why her body reacts like that?" Felix's face turned into a frown.
"Maybe she was suffering from depression. She's thinking too much things that her body's reaction was refusal. She even lose her weight excessively. Making her blood to go down too." The doctor explained.
"Depression? That's impossible. She was lively and healthy. How come she has a depression?"
"I can't answer any specific questions right now. Since the patient was unconscious, no one knows what was really going on in her mind. You better keep a closer look on her next time."
Felix fell into silence even the doctor had gone. He threw his glance on Siren's face but his mind was scattered everywhere.

Conrad's POV
It's been three weeks after Reena left. I was still in a daze not knowing what to feel with her sudden disappearance.
I was troubled and guilty for some reasons that sometimes I wanted to slap myself hard.
Did she left because she was mad at me? Or she left because of the things I told her?
I still remember how she cried that night. It's an awful feeling. We had shared a lot of memories before, but the only moment I could ever remember is when she was crying that night.
I already realized that I was wrong and was ready to make things up, only to find out that she's gone. Now the guilt I'm feeling is slowly eating my conscience.
"Are you done?" Mom asked me when I stood up. "You barely touched your food."
"I don't have the appetite." Then I left.
I walk straight to the study. But I feel it was suffocating inside as soon as entered room.
In my head, I can still hear Reena's soft cry. It's here. This is the place where it all started, yet the place where it just ends.
I feel like I'm going insane with the thoughts of her. I badly wanted to see her. I wanted to tell her that I'm so sorry and how much I've been regretting everything I had said and done.
I wanted to kiss her now. But she's gone.

Third person's POV
Felix was surprised when he entered his office seeing Sylvia Mendez waiting for him.
"Good morning, Madam." He slightly bows his head as giving her his respect.
"I heard that you are visiting Emperial Heights these past few days." Sylvia says without looking at him.
"I do. There are some personal matters for me to handle over there."
He walked silently to his desk.
"How long are you going to keep Siren out of our sight?" She looks at his face as it suddenly becomes pale.
Felix got startled. He didn't know that Sylvia already knows her daughter's whereabouts while his Uncle Greg seems not.
He calmed himself before answering.
"I am not hiding Siren from anyone, madam."
"Then why Your stepfather still didn't know where Siren is?"
"Siren didn't want to let anybody know."
"Is that so?" She crosses her arms above her chest. Looking at him with disbelief. "I heard that Siren is sick. Aren't you going to tell me anything about it?"
"Siren is indeed sick right now. And I am so sure that the madam already knew every bit of information about it now. That's why I'm keeping myself quiet on the side."
"Hah!" She scoffed. "And you want me to believe that?"
"I'm not certain of making the madam believe whatever I may say. But I will be glad if she will see it for herself." He lowered his gaze.
"Impertinent!"
"I'm sorry."
"Put this on your mind, kid, I'm watching your every step. So if I were you, I'll be very careful in everything I do. You're not going to bear the consequences." After saying that, she strode out of the room.
The man's heart started to shrink and became cold once again.
He realizes that no matter how he wanted to be fair with them, in the end they are still looking at him as a trash that they can easily get rid off. Download Novelah App
