CHAPTER 2: The Meet Up

A lot of stewards and maidservants awaited them at the front door. All of them made a way as Marianne, Vale, and Elena walked inside. The head steward approached them. "Greetings, King and Queen of Quinlan, I am Ethan," he said. He then guided them to where Alexander was. When they arrived, Ethan opened the door gently and gestured for them to go inside. "You may go in, Everhart," he said. All of them entered and saw Alexander sleeping while sitting on his throne. When Alexander felt like someone entered his throne room, he opened his eyes gently. He then saw Vale and his family. "Oh, I almost forgot, it's Saturday! Welcome to my kingdom!" he said. "I apologize for not giving you a welcome party because, you see, as a kingdom stealer, I was very busy," he added teasingly as he walked down from his throne. "Proud of being a throne stealer, Alex?" Vale asked. Alexander then giggled as he approached him, "Pfft, we really need to flex our achievements, don't we?" he said. Alexander then led the way and opened the door to go outside. Vale and his family followed him. As they walked down the hall, Alexander teased Vale a lot. "I can't believe you surrendered, Vale," he said. "I also can't believe you let me, Alex," Vale replied. "Well, actually, you're lucky I'm giving you the chance," Alexander responded.
After a long walk in the hall, they finally arrived at a room. Alexander opened it and gestured for Marianne to enter. "Do your best shot, Marianne," Alexander said to her. When Marianne entered the room, Alexander closed it gently and then offered Vale and Elena to come with him for a tour of his palace. Marianne explored the room and found nothing but a large bedroom. She sat on the couch near the window and stared outside. Suddenly, a boy asked coldly, "Who are you?" Marianne was so shocked that she almost jumped off the window. She looked at him and was surprised to see a handsome 11-year-old boy with blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin adorned with freckles. "W-who are you?" she asked. "I'm Ace Hawthorne, and you?" he asked with a cold tone in his voice. "M-Marianne Everhart," she responded while offering him a handshake. "Okay," he responded coldly, ignoring her offer for a handshake and slowly leaving her. When Marianne saw that he ignored her, she shouted, "Hey! What's with that attitude?!" Ace stopped walking and looked back at her, "What attitude?" he asked. "That attitude!" she shouted. Ace then stared at her, trying to figure things out.
A few seconds later, he asked, "Are you that girl who will gonna marry me soon?" he asked. "Huh?! What marry?!" she asked angrily. Marianne really didn't have any idea about the marriage, and she thought that he was just a new friend. "You might be delusional! I'm not going to marry!" she shouted. "Oh really?" he asked. "Yeah, really," she responded. Ace then shrugged his shoulders, "Wanna do something fun?" he asked. "What do you want to do?" she asked. "How about we stroll out in the garden?" he suggested. "Well, that's a good idea," she responded. When Marianne agreed, Ace then walked to the door, opened it and got outside first. But before Marianne could reach the door, he immediately closed it. Marianne got angry and shouted, "AHHH..!!!! I hate you..!!!" She then opened the door and saw Ace walking away like nothing had happened. She immediately rushed to him and blocked his way. Without hesitation, Marianne kicked Ace's groin, making him fall to the floor. "What's that for?!" he asked. "For being so rude!" she shouted. Ace trembled in pain while holding onto his pants.
Luckily, Vale, Elena, and Alexander were heading to another room, and they saw Marianne and Ace in the hallway, with Ace trembling on the floor. All of them immediately rushed to check what was going on. "Ace!!" Alexander shouted while trying to help Ace stand up. "What happened here?" Vale asked. "He's so rude that's why I kicked him!" Marianne explained. "You did what?!!" Elena asked. When Vale heard it, he became worried again because Alexander might not let it go. "I apologize for my daughter's action, Alex," Vale tried to apologize. But Alexander ignored him and instead, he carried Ace to his room and shouted to a maidservant to call a royal physician. Vale and Elena followed Alexander, trying to apologize to him, leaving Marianne in the hallway. Marianne then peeked into the room and saw that Ace was really hurt. "Please, leave now," Alexander said in a cold tone. Vale and Elena were frozen when they heard it. Vale and Elena had no other choice but to leave, so they left the palace.
When they got home, Vale was really absentminded and pale. The three of them sat on their thrones silently, staring at the front door of the throne room. A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door. "You may come in," Vale shouted. When the door opened, they saw their head steward, named Carter. "What's your business here?" Vale asked. "Greetings and praises, King Vale, I am here to inform you that King Alexander is inviting you for another visit this Sunday," he said. When Vale and Elena heard it, the atmosphere suddenly brightened. It felt like angels from heaven were singing in front of them. They were so happy and relieved to hear that Alexander wanted another visit this Sunday. Marianne's parents were so happy, except for Marianne. "Father, I hate him!! He's so rude!!" Marianne shouted. "No, you just need to adjust your temper!" Elena said. "Marianne, I hope you're not going to do that again to the prince," Vale added. "Please just be friends with the prince, or else you're not going to be enrolled in Harrington's Royal Academy," Elena said. "Harrington's Royal Academy?" Marianne asked.
