CHAPTER 4: The Unlock of the Power

Six months have passed, and Ace kept teaching her reading, writing, and even math. Every time he visited her, the only thing he would do is teach her, and every time she visited him, all they did was study. In those six months, Ace saw that she learned a lot, and she kept improving her knowledge. She was able to read and understand, write words, and she could count now. One Saturday morning, in Ace's room, she exclaimed, "Gahhh!! All we did was study!!!" He responded, "You need to study!" while putting a book in front of her. "How can you pass the entrance exam if you don't even know how to read?!" he added. Marianne then pouted while flipping a page of a book. "Can we do something else this time?" she asked. "No, the entrance exam is almost here; we only have 2 months left!" he said. "Please, just this time! I promise I will study hard in 2 months!" she said. Ace let out a deep sigh, "Okay," he responded while walking away. "Wait, where are you going?" she asked. "You want to do something, right? Do it yourself," he said, then left the room and closed the door gently. She then rushed to follow him, but when she got out, Ace was already not around. Marianne let out a deep sigh, "Uh, he is so cold," she said. She then walked upstairs, hoping that he would be in library.
When she arrived, she saw Ace on the floor, unconscious. "Ace?" she said while slowly approaching him. When she turned him over, she noticed that he couldn't breathe properly and he is cold, literally. "Ace!" she shouted as she patted his face gently. She then rushed to find her parents to tell them about Ace. After a long run, she found her parents on the balcony with Alexander. "Father!! Mom!!! Ace...! Ace!! is in bad shape in the library!!!" she shouted. All of them were shocked, and they immediately rushed to the library. When they arrived, Alexander immediately rushed to check Ace. He then carried him and shouted, "Gather all of the magicians here!" The maids and stewards nearby immediately called all the magicians they knew. In Alexander's room, he placed Ace in his bed gently and touched his face to feel his temperature; he really was so cold. "What is going on?" Marianne asked. "The prince unlocked his powers too soon," Vale explained. "Huh?" she asked. "We, royals, usually unlock our powers at 13 or 14 years old. Unlocking them at younger ages might be dangerous," Alexander explained. "Ace might possess strong and uncontrollable power, that's why he unlocked it at a young age," Elena said. Suddenly, the magician burst in – a 20-year-old young man with dark red hair and green eyes named Elijah. He then approached the child and checked on him. While he was checking Ace, Alexander suddenly asked, "Why is there a young magician here?" he inquired. "Uh, he is the only magician we know, Majesty," the servant replied. "Hm... Unbelievable," Alexander said.
A few moments later, Elijah approached Alexander and others. "I have eased his coldness and difficulty in breathing temporarily; however, we need him to wear the regulation earrings to control the overflowing power inside him," Elijah explained. "Regulation earrings?" Vale asked. "Yes, we need them to seal his powers for a while since he can't handle it for now," Elijah explained. "I heard that if you wear those earrings, they will not come off anymore. I will not allow that," Alexander said. "It will come off if he finally understands and controls his power; if he can't, it will not come off, and he can only use a small amount of his powers," Elijah explained. "So you mean he can still use his powers?" Elena asked. "Yes, he can, but the more he uses it, the more his stamina will drain," Elijah explained. "Do you have those earrings?" Alexander asked. "No, a goblin stole them from me," Elijah said. Alexander then let out a deep sigh, "Where can we find that goblin?" he asked. "I don't know, Majesty," Elijah said.
When the night comes in Quinlan Kingdom, Marianne got worried about Ace. She then planned to get the earrings for him. "Mom, I want to get that earring!" she shouted. "No, that would be so dangerous. Goblins are dangerous!" Elena shouted. "Marianne, don't do it. We sacrificed you once; I will not allow you to do it this time!" Vale added. "No!!! I will get it!!!" she shouted. "NO!!" Elena shouted so hard at Marianne. When Marianne heard it, her tears suddenly fell down her cheeks. Marianne immediately rushed to her room and closed it hard. Vale then sighed, "This is so troublesome; that kid is so powerful. Marianne will hurt so much," Vale said. Elena then sat down on the couch gently, "Stop saying useless things, Vale," she said. Little did they know, Marianne escaped the palace to continue her plan. She didn't cry; it was her plan B if her parents didn't allow her. Luckily, the guards at the gates did not notice her because she ran to the backyard. In the backyard, there is a hole in the wall where guards aren't usually present. Since she was 10 years old, she could fit herself through the hole and went outside. When she got out, she got lost in the forest, but even so, she continued her walk to get the earrings. "I will travel the whole world to get that earring," she said to herself. While walking, she suddenly realized that she was surrounded by wolves in the forest. She got scared and froze in the middle, looking at the gleaming red eyes in the shadows. Without any hesitation, Marianne ran away from that place, and the wolves followed her to catch her. She ran so hard, but the wolves were just so fast, and she was caught by one of them. Thankfully, she struck the wolf with a tree branch, and she continued her run.
