Chapter 19: Ambulance

Samantha's never been in an ambulance before. This is such one of those rarest thing she doesn't stumbled upon but is happening to her right now. It's such a mortifying thing to see your friend snorting as she pretend that she lost her consciousness.
Gregory's palm rested on top of hers. She leaned her frame towards him. The man immediately put his arm around her as she rested on his body. She was having throbbing pains in her head. Maybe it's because of the sudden stress that took over because of what happened a while ago.
Samantha closed her lids while remembering what occurred when they saw Cassidy running and throwing her things at the man who's chasing after her.
“Cass!” She tried to make her voice loud but it failed because Cassidy was still screaming at the man in front of her.
Gregory slowly touched her wrist and they both stared at each other. “We need to go.” They both stated in unison.
The two of them went outside. They walked towards the two.
“Cass!” She screamed. This time Samantha finally had her friend's attention.
Cassidy stared at her before she started waving her hands up in the air. “Get this guy away from me. Get him away from me!” She screamed.
Her scream was a bit too loud that it made Samantha shriek and stopped from her tracks. She wanted to unplugged her ears for a bit because of its loudness.
Gregory was fast. The man was supposed to have his hold on Cassidy but Gregory was fast enough to grab his arm. He suddenly twisted it, tackling the man down on the ground with his bare grip.
Samantha was shocked. She couldn't believe what Gregory just did. It was one of those moves she can see in movies. Especially those action packed ones. But this time it's happening in front of her and it was her husband who was doing one of the famous moves she saw on television shows.
He was so good that if she didn't know him, she would mistook him as an actor. The only thing missing was his distinctive attire—his suit and his leather shoes.
She smiled because of her own thoughts. It's without a doubt that her husband is that amazing.
An indicative scream came from Cassidy. Samantha's eyes went towards her. Oh how does she had forgotten about her friend on the side because on how she was too focused on her husband.
She hurried her pace and went towards her friend who's eyes went big. She followed her gaze. Cassidy was looking towards the man who's already brought to the ground by Gregory. Cassidy looked horrified and at the same time she saw an expression that passed.
She was worried?
Samantha's stare went to Gregory who was already looking at her. He's eyes were asking a question and Samantha raised her brows as a retort.
“What should we do with him?” Gregory asked. His head leaned down, staring at the guy who's face were almost kissing the ground that he was laying unto.
He suddenly moved and Gregory's foot was fast to stomped him down again. Angling it in such a polished away that left Samantha in awe.
But Cassidy wasn't amused. She suddenly sobbed and Samantha couldn't help but to stare at her once again, in confusion.
Samantha helped her balance herself when Cassidy's legs went jelly. She clung her hands on Samantha's hold and she suddenly started to moved her eyes as if she was in a delirious state.
Making the two have the look of being startled, written on their faces. Samantha and Gregory exchange looks. Gregory's foot left the man's back and instead went to offer his assist to Samantha who was struggling to keep herself and her friend in balance.
Samantha was closed to pulling her up when she suddenly fainted. Gregory's timing was good too. He was able to help Samantha hold Cassidy who suddenly fainted.
Samantha eyes went to the man. Her eyes widened. This is not just someone unfamiliar, this is. The man is Cassidy's ex boyfriend Chase.
“She's pregnant. So please be careful with your hold.” Chase uttered.
It wasn't for her but it was obvious that the statement was for her husband, Gregory. Gregory's eyebrows furrowed because of it.
“Do you know each other?” Gregory asked. His expression featured the confusion he felt upon hearing the man he just knocked down.
Samantha stared at Chase before her eyes went to her husband. “They know each other.” She took a pause before moving her mouth again. “He was Cassidy's ex-boyfriend.” She added.
She saw how Gregory's mouth hanged a bit open because of what she said. She shook her head consciously because of it. “I didn't have a clear view of his face. I'm sorry.” She uttered once again.
“If only I immediately had a glimpse of his face I could have stopped you. I was to focused on Cassidy. On you too.” Samantha explained. Her eyes were apologetic.
She saw how Gregory's gaze softened. His smile suddenly show up. “It's okay, Sam.” Gregory said.
They both looked at the man before Gregory's hand left Cassidy. Making the man movee towards Cassidy and pulling her into his embrace. He was the one who's holding her already.
Samantha stood while Gregory took a hold of her as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
“We need to get an ambulance.” Gregory leaned as he whispered the words on Samantha's ear which made the hairs on her neck stood up. She didn't move his head to meet his gaze.
Gregory was too close. He was close that if she moved his head, the possibility of meeting his lips is in such a high rate. That if she literally do what her mind wants her to do—to move her head. It would probably gonna happen. The meeting of lips...
The precise movement of his hand while he wrapped his arm around her made Samantha felt secure. Comfortable. She liked the feeling of his warmth. That even thought she can feel her head spinning and her heart doing some chaotic version of kung fu, since it was pounding so hard. She can feel at ease because Gregory is with her. He's right there with her.
She glance down with a restrained look to see her friend. She was conscious the whole time. She'll definitely received some of her rants and probably her wrath the moment they reached the hospital. She made her worried. She made them exhausted and tired. She knew this because on the way Gregory was holding into her, he's also trying to regain his strength. Samantha saw the stress in his eyes during the incident. She saw the stress too on Chase's face. The stress is still present though, as Chase was holding Cassidy's hand while the siren was ringing in their ears.
Samantha sighed. What happened is a bit much that it took place in just a day.
Samantha looked at her friend. Cassidy has a lot of explaining to do...
