ARYA’S POV
I got in between them before things start to go heated. I made them sit and calmed the situation, which is usually not me. Normally I would initiate the fight but not for now.
“This is the second time I am hit today,” Kai announced, glaring at Alpha Ace in front of us. “I will let it slide Ace.”
I cleared my throat and asked Ace as I change the topic, “How are you feeling?”
“Like shit.” Alpha Ace replied, “I’m glad you have to have that.” He replied sarcastically.
I sighed at his response. I want to rebut or fire back but I have to keep in mind that he’s in a sh*tty mood because he is in a sh*tty position. I have to be understanding and keep my patience.
He then turned to Kai, “And you bastard, explain yourself.”
“Why? Do I have to be there to help you save your girl?” Kai responded, clearly still angry, “You’ve grown weaker Lycan King. Soon, other alphas would go after you because you are undeserving of your title. I believe you need to be replaced.”
His comment was ignored as Ace glanced around the room, “Kira…where f*ck is she?”
I gulped...ah, I knew he would ask this sooner…“Captured by the fowlers.”
He was about to stand up but we stop her.
“Who’s going to rescue her now? Stop pushing me. I have to go-”
“At this rate, you’re only going to your funeral.” I muttered, “Your senses are weakened, the poison is still in your body.”
He gritted his teeth, “Then what do you suggest I do? Let my mate be attacked there?” He hissed as he felt his injury.
“You have to heal first and regain your energy.” I suggested, “That is the only way for now.”
“They won’t harm her, trust me.” Said another voice behind us and I didn’t have to look behind to know Gusev was there. This vampire is just everywhere. “The fowlers are human too, don’t forget. And your mate is in her own kind now. They won’t do something that would harm her…for now.”
Seeing the vampire, Ace was about to attack him again but we stopped him.
Gusev shielded his face, “Ah ah, don’t hurt me, I am the reason why you are still alive here.”
“Can you leave us alone?” Asked Kai beside me.
Gusev raised his eyebrows, obviously not agreeing to that, “What? I just arrived and you’re asking me to leave?”
“Shut up, vampire.” Both Alpha Ace and Kai snapped at him.
Gusev glanced at me for help, whimpering but I shrugged, “You heard them. Let’s go.”
I saw Maximus staring at nothing as we went outside and let the two alphas converse between themselves. I guess they need to talk about many things.
Leaving them alone for a few minutes felt like time passing slowly.
“Are you worried?” Asked Gusev through the silence between us. I notice that each silence is getting comfortable for me.
I glanced at him, “About who?”
“Kira.”
I sent him a small smile, thinking about her again sends my blood rushing and wanting to save her…
“I am. Obviously. But I am sure everything will be alright. I just have to put my trust in Alpha Ace to heal faster.”
Alpha Magnus seemed to have softened his heart for him to offer a room to rest for both of me and Kai. I didn’t hesitate but accepted his offer and jumped onto the mattress.
I felt like crumbling into nothingness the moment my skin met the soft pillows. It felt so wrong since my body relaxed this much.
And despite being in another territory, Alpha Kamilah and Alpha Magnus did a good job of being hospitable enough to make their guests comfortable.
And this is something considering the fact that it's difficult for me to get relaxed in an unknown and new place. My body seemed to instantly adapt even to the flow of air here.
I feel so at home in their pack, and I do not want to even leave this place.
I was about to close my eyes when I heard the door opening, along with Kai’s deep voice, “Getting comfy, are we?”
I smiled at him, “How was the talk with Alpha Ace?”
“It went well. He was suggesting leaving at dawn.” He replied, closing the door behind him as he leaned down and planted a soft kiss on my forehead.
“And? You won’t stop him?”
“Why would I? I understand him.” His eyes glanced down at my lips, “He’s constantly thinking about his mate. It won’t heal at this rate. What he needs is to move and save her now.”
“If I were in his shoes, I would do the same. If you were captured too, I might just kill them.”
I shook my head at that, “You just don’t change.”
He smirked, “Of course. And you owe me a kiss babe.”
“And you owe me an apology.”
“That’s why I am making up with you. I apologize for not coming.”
His hands were lingering on my neck, down to my breasts as he massaged them. I let out a moan, biting my lip and wanting to resist. My hands went to the tattoos on the back of his neck and the piercings on his ears.
To think that he wouldn’t even let me touch these the first time we met…
Until when did we start being so affectionate like this?
Goodness, I forgot.
It feels weird seeing him in this light. The usual grubby and grumpy Kai, now at the tip of my fingers.
I pushed his hand away, “Where were you that night?”
He shrugged, “I was busy chasing down the others.”
I scoffed. Kai never shrugs. And he was never this good at words.
I gulped, carefully looking at his face. How his dark hair folded and his eyes glinted. How his muscles felt under my hand.
Something about him is different. Perhaps I am just imagining things because I am tired.
I cleared my throat, “I’m tired. Let me sleep.”
“Then sleep on my arms.”
He offered his hands and I closed my eyes as he massaged my hair. I felt relaxed and loosened my tense body.
“I’ll be here. I won’t leave.” He mumbled, trailing down kisses until I let sleep take over me.

I woke up full of sweat and shivering in the cold night.
I could see the moonlight, a full moon emitting in the sky.
Tonight was uncomfortable. I could sense something about to unfold.
“Kai?” I called out as soon as I didn’t see him beside me.
The whole place was eerily quiet. I wonder where Alpha Kamilah was…
I instantly went to the infirmary just to check if Kai was there yet I was shocked to hear the noises from outside the door.
The loud scratches and the low growl from another. Alpha Ace is not alone.
I instantly opened the door to see Alpha Ace fighting for his life. Arms tangled with Kai’s. Maximus was in the corner, trying to stop them but he seemed to be weak as he was on his knees.
“Kai?” I rolled my eyes, “You’re fighting him again? I told you-“
“He’s not Kai!” Yelled Ace, “Run!”
I blinked. Is he in his monster mode?
But his bloodshot eyes were nowhere. Or his canines.
He looked at himself.
But then I instantly could see the tattoos on his neck disappearing.
And the same familiar smile haunted me, “Hello, Arya.”
