54 Sinister

I smiled, not used to him apologizing and my heart instantly forgave him, melting into his touch again.
I reached and kisses his lips, making him smile as he pulled me deeper.
“Oh Kai, stop, we still need to return there inside,” I said, pulling away but he still kissed me. He went down on my belly and planted kisses. “I could feel them. Our pups.”
I looked at him. Between the two of us, he was the one who was happier about the news. But I can’t help but think about the elder’s warnings. Why should I avoid my mate?
His smile dropped as I was in a train of thoughts, “You still…do not like it?”
“I am thinking of your twin.” I blurted out.
His jaw clenched, now standing up, “I am the father.”
“But he’s the one who marked me first.” I said, “And the pack members will hate me.”
“So? Fuck them. We need to have you as our luna soon. Announce a formal ceremony.” He said.
I nodded, somehow, convinced of him. Kai was unstoppable, and I’m the only one saying no to this but these are all useless.
What’s the use of saying no? I have Kai. I trust him. He won’t abandon me. The mere fact that he’s this persistent in his decisions shows he’s ready to face the consequences of our actions.
And I should be, prepared for anything to happen. For me and our pups.
I guess I’ll have to be braver now.
“Let’s go.” I smiled at Kai, his hands holding my waist and supporting me as if I couldn’t stand.
“I’ll carry you. We don’t want our pups inside being disturbed of their sleep.”
We then returned to the elder inside.
Alpha Magnus smirked, “See? I knew you just need to talk things out,”
Kai rolled his eyes at him as we faced the elder.
She smiled at us, “I hope your relationship is stronger now, especially since you have your future here.” She motioned at my belly, “You, Alpha Kai, protect her no matter what.”
Kai nodded, glancing down at me as he kissed my hand, “I will.”
The elder smiled, “Good. Pregnancy has never been easy. And I hope the moon goddess will guide you on your journey.”
We nodded, and I glanced at Kai, who had a grudge against the moon goddess.
We were finished and Kai was snuggling me as we walked to the forest.
“Arya….”
“Hmm?” I hummed.
“My Arya….” He called again with a smile.
“Yes?”
His hands touched my lips, and looked at me deeply, “I had always been saying “fuck the moon goddess…. But now, if I have to grovel at her feet just to keep you by my side, then I will.”
I could feel my heart beating so fast as he said that with so much conviction. And he’s making me feel that I chose the right decision.
We decided to say our goodbyes to everyone now that we knew what to do. We had overstayed here in Alpha Kamilah and Alpha Magnus’ territory. I guess it's time for us to leave.
We didn’t waste any more minutes as Kai and I decided to start our journey back to the Midnight's pack. It was hours away from here, so Kai shifted and made me sit on his back.
“Stay there. Do not ever, shift. The elder advised you.” He keep on saying, and I nodded, seeing how protective and a bit paranoid he is now about my safety.
“Alright. Let’s go now.”
We left at midnight and continued to ride through the moonlight. Thank goodness that the situation now is that bad outside as war is over and the lands are a bit stable…well for now…
I let my thoughts wander as Kai went through the night silently.
We took a few breaks as Kai didn’t want me to be too tired. It took six hours for us to reach the borders of the Midnight's pack.
I glanced at Kai as we walked through the forest, and he softly squeezed my hand as he said, “We can do it.”
Everything felt the same and nostalgic. As if I went back in time from the first time they captured me. Well, the situation has changed now, I am not a mere kidnapped omega.
Pushing through, we passed by some of the familiar faces of deltas, the fighters on their training, and their trainer for the day, Amari, who was beyond shocked when she saw us.
“A-Alpha…Kai?” She asked, and when Kai nodded, she instantly bowed, “We were looking for you! Come in!”
Amari’s eyes shifted to me and she gasped, “Arya?”
I smiled, “Hi.”
She couldn’t contain her excitement as she guided us to the packhouse and into Alpha Zef’s house.
Amari continued further down and I blinked, “Where’s Zef?” It must be due to pregnancy, but I couldn’t stomach the stink all around so I covered my nose. Cobwebs were everywhere, rats lingering and the cold ground floor was covered in a pile of pee and poop.
What a horrible place I felt like vomiting.
“Alpha Zef is down the dungeon. He’s excited and waiting for you.”
I nodded, finding it strange because the last thing I remembered was Kai letting me escape, and Zef should be angry now.
He must be excited and missed his brother...
Beside me, Kai was tensed up, but silently observing everything.
Amari led us through a door and when we were inside, she closed the door and locked us inside.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “Amari?”
Amari looked down, “I apologize. I failed to mention…Alpha Zef’s order was to specially deliver you to him.
“I knew it.” Growled Kai beside me. “Let us out of here!”
It only occurred to me now, what Amariw was planning to do. She led us all the way here just to get us in these cage-like animals.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get us out of here.” Kai was trying to comfort me, he looked strangely calm and collected as if he had expected this would have happened and was prepared.
Well of course, how I did not think of it? I was too busy thinking about my pregnancy that not once did it occurred to me.
Alpha Zef is mad at us.
What was I expecting? A warm welcome? A grand celebration with a feast now that we had returned? He is not like Alpha Kamilah who was kind enough to do that!
His hands reached out to mine and I could feel them shaking not from fear, but from anger.
Footsteps echoed and I could smell the same scent of Alpha Zef by the stairs. The more he got closer, the more I could feel his presence.
It didn’t take long for his face to appear in front of us.
“Ah, look who came back as traitors. Hello traitors! So glad to see you again!”
“You think you have something to return to just because you left all the pack to myself?” His deep voice greeted us. His same dark features were there. He looked younger and much fresh as if nothing stressed him out.
Except for his brown eyes. They looked more sinister now.
