Chapter 29: Lack of understanding is the root of chaos

Wake Louchette
Seeing the hand of our guard in suit touched Sarah's arm, I felt distracted and assumed that I wasn't affected by what he did. I knew that he was doing his job, but there was this strange feeling of mine that I cannot avoid. As we walked towards the entrance, I kept looking away, glancing everywhere, and I can't avoid being guilty of what I was doing.
It is such a freaking hell! Why am I feeling like this?
When we were finally stepping on the stairs going down, I accidentally glanced towards Sarah's arm. I looked away several times while fixing the tip of my shirt. Damn, it felt so awkward. It seemed like I wasn't in myself anymore.
As we moved forward, this weird feeling of mine kept bewildering me. So I quickly stopped, face the guard, and asked him to exchange his position with mine. His face looked confused, and one of his eyebrows raised, questioning my words. He was hesitant to follow my request since, as a guard, I knew that it was disrespectful for him to allow me to do his job in exchange for the dignity I had as one of the protectors of nature.
I am the leader of one of Mystica Glory's products. In that case, I shouldn't be holding the subject when in public. That's the usual practice we had.
"This would not be enough reason for us to fire you. Trust me." I convinced in a whisper, making sure that no one could hear us. Or at least have an idea of what I was asking.
His face enlightened, showing a reaction of being relieved. So he immediately removed his hands away from Sarah's, and then we exchanged places. I quickly slid my hand on her pulse, and I felt a sigh of fulfillment, knowing that it wasn't made her uncomfortable. She didn't reacted. She probably got used to my gestures.
I held her hand's pulse tightly, making sure that she'll not separate from me. Of course, we were outside, and she might get lost.
From her left side, I spotted Gabriel. He was simpering with a reaction that was very annoying in my eyes. He cleared his throat, and I can feel that he was trying to say something vexatious.
It didn't get too much of my attention. I focused my thoughts back on the actual reason for our sudden appearance to the public with Sarah. When realizing that we were finally a few distances away from the Narra tree, people were astonished about what they were seeing. All of them were pointing towards the tree's mysterious trunk that filled back with its wood. The last time we checked, a part of it was being removed because we used them to create a table.
We heard several opinions from them as they looked unto the tree. They couldn't identify the cause of its reformation, even us.
But wait! We gave that table to Lance. I stilled upon realizing something relevant.
The last manifestation of Sarah's magical power flashed to my memory. It was at the very last part of her, showing his peculiar activity which she made Lance's table disappeared. Then there was a quick, wavelength of reaction afterward.
I glanced at Sarah in a second, then looked back to that tree again.
Was it possible that what she did has something to do with the Narra tree?
A lot of questions began to form in my mind. It was precisely possible, as I thought one more time. She demonstrated an ability that none of the people have. She has a special magic of her own. I guess this is not a surprising analysis anymore. We were already used to what she had.
When I get back to reality, I asked our guards to clear the way for us to have a better close view of the new Narra tree.
People were looking at Sarah with defying faces. I was concerned about what Sarah might felt at this time. But when I checked her, she felt unbothered. Her lips formed a smile as her eyes stuck towards the tree.
I felt more curious about her reaction. Now, I was sure that the tree has something to do with her.
When we were finally a few meters away from the tree, the tree's branches moved.
"What is that?"
"Oh my..."
People gasped and stepped a span of distance away from the tree. The rest of the team were also surprised, but we need to make sure that our reaction would not cause any fright in the crowd.
When the branches went near to Sarah, we quickly moved away from her. I was worried.
"Sarah-" I was about to grab her away, but Hisha stopped me by holding my arm. Her eyes were saying that I shouldn't do what I was thinking and let ourselves observe what's next.
I nodded.
But even though I chose to stay in my place, I couldn't stop worrying.
My eyes focused on the branches' movements as it touched Sarah's forehead, gently passing to her nose line, then to the tip of his nose. Sarah closed her eyes, feeling the sensation of the branches' unusual reaction.
What the hell is going on?! This wooden creature seemed to have its brain! It was moving like a person!
When the branch moved an inch away, Sarah opened back her eyes. She smiled with curved lips, almost reaching her ears. It was clear to the eyes of the majority that she wasn't afraid of the tree, and she likes it!
Suddenly, the branches totally moved away from Sarah. However, the scene does not end there. I was about to grab her again, but the tree's branch instantly cut off the chains between Sarah's hands!
This event frightened everyone! Many ran away, while others took their phones to have a video on them. Our guards attempt to confiscate those phones, but before they could do it, the phones shut down on their own!
As Sarah's hands became free, I was afraid of what might be the next thing she will do. Will she attack us?
But no! I knew Sarah. She couldn't do that to us!
"Let's ask for more backup!" Lance shouted, facing the guards. They nodded, and some of them went on their way back to the building. He was referring to those armed military men to support us.
From the side of the media, Elaine and Aniela stopped them from taking shots. Even though the cameras ran off, they continued to ask questions through manual interviews. It was too hassle, but they still pursue. Instead of giving their answers, they continued to push them away in a well-organized manner.
Gabriel and Alexis assembled their power gun for defense purposes. On the other side, Christian did something with his folded laptop, setting a device that controls all the defense devices attached in the whole city.
While seeing what they were doing, I felt concerned about Sarah's situation. She was still standing in front of the tree. Her eyes enjoyed seeing the green spirals flashing from the tree's roots. The branches were waving in front of her, and I can tell that it entertained her.
She wasn't doing anything violent!
Before I could make a move, a smooth sound of a gun fired towards her. It traveled like a glowing blue light, forming a line. I instantly looked for the one who operated it; it was from the soldier that Lance asked for a while ago.
My body shivered.
Why are they shooting Sarah! She did not harm us!
With wide eyes, I ran towards her. She fell on the ground and was pushed back due to the gun's force. She was facing the roots of the tree while trying to make her body move. I quickly assisted her to face in front of me. She looked much confused, and her eyes were questioning me. She probably thought that I was the one who fired her!
"It wasn't me..." I calmly said as I held her hips to make her back straight up. I touched my wristwatch, and a cloth immediately came out from the side. I tied it to Sarah's right shoulder to avoid the blood from spreading out.
"Stay away from her!" The voice of the commander demanded. His gun raised straight towards Sarah's direction. His troops formed in a horizontal, facing us. They bent their one knee down, and their defense weapons were right in front of us as well.
Sarah's face was frightened. She made herself close to mine. When she looked at me, her eyes were asking for protection. Her lips went unornamented, forming a slightly down shape. She blinked her eyelids several times.
She wasn't happy anymore.
"Wake! Hurry up! Leave her there!" My head turned to Hisha, who was begging me repeatedly to give up Sarah. Right now, she was with the whole team, except for Elaine and Aniela. All of them were preparing different stuff on their own.
I might lose my position if I don't want them to take Sarah away, but I can't just leave her.
A few moments later, the ground began to shake. Everyone was trying to balance themselves with the unexpected earthquake. I was also surprised and couldn't stop thinking that this happened because of Sarah. She wasn't even affected by the earthquake.
It only took a few seconds before the shaking stopped, but it didn't end that way.
The ground between the soldiers slowly breaks, separating into half. They accidentally mishandled their weapons and desperately shouting for help. Our eyes were confused about what was happening!
Hisha attempted to save one of them, but the ground cracks several times!
Elaine, Aniela, and the media ran away to avoid the division, while Gabriel and Alexis grabbed Christian's arms. Lance went in our direction. I thought he would be against us, but he helped me in making Sarah stand.
"Wake! Hurry up, let's move away!" His voice was in a hurry as he held the other side of Sarah's arm.
But, when Sarah regained her balance, she surprisingly cast waters towards the land, making it muddy. The soil slowly filled the cracks, avoiding every soldier to fall.
