Chapter 33: When human abuses, dwell the punishment
Sarah Codache
My left arm poorly hurts. I can feel that my skin was getting sore, and it was like falling apart. My hips twisted to avoid losing my balance. It made me moved backward in depth. I breathed in deep air when accumulating the pain I felt. When I glanced at my palm, I saw my blood disappeared. Its baffling disappearance did not bother me anymore. The enigmatic feeling of getting applaud by a spiteful magical force brought no issue, and it seemed that this implied my uniqueness as who I am.
When I stood in the middle of the airy road, surrounded by equipped men, the branches that kept swaying on my back individually captured them. They screamed for help with the pain they felt as those tiny thorns slowly went deep into their skin. Their eyes were reddish, looking towards my ocean blue eyes, probably asking for a release.
When I stared at them for a long time, I can see the pain they had in their eyes. I can feel the worries in my heart, thinking of those waving branches at my back that was eager to make these people suffer more.
"You should not pity them, Snaedis." Rein whispered in my thoughts, making me feel comfortable about my recent actions. When he called me Snaedis, I heard my dreams back again. A sudden flash of memory came in a second, letting me know that I am Snaedis.
"Is it because they have hurt me?" I cried in my thoughts while responding to him.
"Yes. Not just that, these people hurt nature as a whole." He answered with his calm, lifeless voice.
"But, they don't understand what they are doing..." I countered while making tiny steps towards them. My eyes carefully stared at those thorns. They looked deadly.
"The pain you saw right now is their consequence. The compassion you felt towards them is just an illusion. You are deceived by how they reacted; their tears are your reward." He explained. I froze when I realized that I was talking inside my head with Rein. I wasn't conscious about it until I found myself facing the branches with no trace of a human figure of him.
And with a blink of an eye, without any conventions, these branches suddenly disappeared. I was startled when the ground shook as these branches went nowhere. My goodness! Where did he go?
I quickly faced back to those men who were untied but laid lifelessly on the ground. My eyes widened as I glanced at each of them. The blood that went outside their wounds and their nerves went green. There were tiny branches that crawled from their cuts, going inside their body. The rest of the citizens that surrounded us ran away. They were screaming to those people behind them to stay away from the situation.
I can't help but keep shaking my head as I witnessed these bodies slowly became soil. I almost died because of them, but Rein appeared too affected by what they did to me. He must be angry.
Later on, I heard several alarming noises that came from the surroundings. Vehicles with red and blue lights drove across the road with voices that kept wanging for giving warnings. I wasn't able to comprehend who they were until they started to get out of the car, from the moment they stopped. I shivered in fear and quickly ran away from them!
Their suites have similarities with those dead-armed people. So I thought that they also could kill!
"Off! Stop right there!" I was too unfortunate. A man blocked my way before I could run a few meters away. His gone pointed my head. His eyes were on fire, skimming unto my reaction, apparently observing my next moves.
I slowly stepped back, and I can feel my breathing began to complicate. My thoughts could not absorb the things that happened. I looked to my surroundings, and there I saw plenty of officers circulating the area, pointing their guns at me.
The man, who was in front of me, laughed. "You can't escape now!"
I felt more nervous and unsafe.
"Josh! Shoot her now!" I heard a random officer shouted towards this man. He wanted him to end my life. But was it that so easy? I thought to myself, thinking that I manifested a strange capability that these men did not have.
I was about to attack him first to destroy their plan, but the man instantly fired the bullet towards my forehead. I felt my body floating in the air as I moved back due to the force brought by the firing. That bullet that hit my forehead was enough for me to die. I gasped when my but bumped on the ground.
My hands were shaking as I slowly touched my forehead to see the effect of that firing. I was afraid of what might happen to me, and I can't stop wondering if this would bring me to my end or not. But, after my palm touched my forehead, there was no blood at all! Even a single trace of it!
I can feel the pain it does, but not the wound that it made. The scar immediately disappeared, circulating a water characteristic before it came back to its origin skin.
It was phenomenal and unpredictable!
I promptly stood up, showing a fierce impression to them. I stood straight right in front of that man who shot me. His eyes were terrified and can't keep eye contact with my circulating, blue water eyes. He gabbled as he ran back to the car, but I quickly whirled my arms to cast waters for him to stop. He became wet.
He slowly turned his body in front of me, and his legs were shaking in fear. I heard a small laugh from one of his colleagues, so my eyes dropped at them, and they instantly disappeared. When other officers saw what I did, their bodies moved a bit backward. Their faces became more conscious and vigilant.
As I looked back to the person in front of me, he surprisingly kneeled and asked for forgiveness. He bowed his head on the ground with his shaking back. He was afraid to be dead.
"Forgive me for shooting you! I will not do it again. I will tell my fellow men to stop threatening you. Please, forgive me! I will do anything you want!" His voice was cracking, too eager for life.
But, his words were not the ones that caught my attention. It was the leathered jacket that he was wearing. I closed my eyes as a reaction when I smelled the mourning of those cows. They were fighting to live while people took off their skin.
My eyes slowly opened as I realized the man's jacket, made from a cow's skin, costed a single animal life. A factory scenario where the waters get polluted by the chemicals they used came randomly to my mind.
My ribs became weak, and my lips shivered in silence as I tried to control my anger. Seeing this man bent down in front of me was imminent. What have they done to the world?
I touched his jacket and thought of disappearing it to water. I turned around while my hands were in the air, amassing strength to generate enough water. I quickly used my entire force to push this man away, using the water's current that came from my hands. His screaming voice was so loud. Anyone in this street can hear his pitiful screaming.
Rein was right. These humans are abusive to nature.
The rest of the officers fired the bullets towards me after the man's body scattered on the air in the form of droplets. They all did that at once! In the flash of a second, I flew above them with the help of my powers. I cast waters in a fall as I spotted those dirty, contaminated liquid surfaces.
I jumped higher and flung the waters towards the canals. I was thinking of it becoming cleaner so the energies I sent will come to an effect. My heart was happy to see those unfortunate families whose faces were in joy as they drank from the clean canals in excitement. Among all the people, these families are the dominant ones who were not afraid of my presence.
The whole city was like raining because of what I did. People went inside these huge buildings to hide from the danger that these droplets might cause. Their frightened voices mixed, and it admittedly irritated my ears.
My eyes became more rapid as it turned in a deep, dark shade of blue. My skin tone changed, and my nails became chic with its sparkling silver small circles attached to my fingers.
I gave water to those plants who died beside the corner of every facility. I cleaned the dirty pavements full of plastic trashes by flashing a wave of water for it to disappear into droplets.
When I stopped, I landed at the nearest top of a building, which gave a broad view of the city.
I intentionally glanced at the clouds, which at this moment gave way to the sun to touched the Earth. It made all the waters dry, and cleanliness was the only prevailing thing that people witnessed in the world.
Gradually, people came out of the building to see the new environment. They were astonished, and I can't stop smiling when they ran outside and embraced the fresh air.
They finally felt satisfied. I sighed in relief.
"Here you are, Sarah!" I quickly glanced in the direction of where does that voice come from. I was almost startled in unsettled when I saw who that person was. My forehead furrowed.
