<< Wedding night ( 2 ) >> “ Humans make plans but God's perfect plan always prevails theirs. ” **** Mira sat down on the bathroom floor that morning as tears filled her eyes. It was her second day as a bride and she was naturally meant to feel happy and excited. Why then does she feel so defeated and sad? Why? Time passed by as her tears kept pouring non stop. A knock on the door interrupted her from her thoughts. “ Mira, please open the door. ” The words of her lover rang from the other side. “ Let's talk about it, Kay? ” Oh. how much she wished she could run into his safe arms and simply cry and allow herself to feel pampered and loved. How much she wished she could open up to him about her fears, but she couldn't. She just couldn't. Ignoring him, she stood up and undressed before stepping into the shower and taking a long bath. This time, she was able to get rid of both the stain and the blood. If one thing, she actually wished she could get rid of the fact that she was no longer a maiden. The image from the previous night haunted her so much that it was becoming super frightening to her. Finally, after spending about thirty minutes in the bathroom, she came out wearing a white bathrobe. She was glad to know that Joseph wasn't around then. Slowly, she advanced to her wardrobe and picked out a simple outfit of a floral dress and flip-flops. She turned back to the bed and was glad to find the stained sheets replaced by a newer one. The tray caught her attention and out of curiosity she checked out its contents. Seeing her favorite meal, Fruity Oatmeal and a glass of orange juice. her heart skipped a beat. She had an inner turmoil regarding whether or not she should eat it. Finally, she decided that she would and she did. Joseph, who was watching her through the small opening of the door, was glad when he saw her settle down and have her breakfast. She didn't neglect her health after all. ***** The day went on with Mira remaining on her matrimonial bed alone reading comics books. She didn't know how many hours had passed by until her stomach started gurgling. “ I'm hungry. ” The realization hit her like nothing else had ever done. “ What am I gonna do? ” She thought to herself. In the end, she tiptoed out of the room and advanced to the kitchen. She was very glad when she found him nowhere to be found, though a part of her wondered where he was. Nevertheless, she helped herself to a plate of cookies and milk and sat down on the dinner table to consume it. When she was done, she contemplated taking a walk around the house or going back to bed. She settled with the latter. Joseph tiptoed into the room and smiled when he saw her asleep, “ My love. ” He thought to himself while watching her. He knelt in front of her face and reached out to trace her face, but stopped himself when he recalled her warnings. She obviously didn't want him close to her, not to talk of touching her at all. But how could he stay away from his wife? He couldn't when they were just Best Friends. How then could he now that they were officially married? “ Mira, I wonder if you know just how much I love and adore you. ” He paused to wipe out the lone tear that fell out of the corner of his eyes. “ I've dreamt of this day a thousand times, but I've never expected it to end like this. ” He recalled the words he heard earlier. “ Humans make plans but God's perfect plan always prevails theirs. ” Finally, he gained the confidence to touch her and did. He traced her face as lovingly as he's always done in time past. Gaining enough confidence, he placed a lingering kiss on her lips. Her lips tasted sweeter than usual and he couldn't let go, despite the warning signals in his brain. Mira's eyes flew open and Joseph froze. The look in her eyes was so intense that he subconsciously found himself pulling away. “ Mira. I. ” he found himself trying to explain himself, though he felt he didn't have to. He wasn't doing anything wrong, okay? She was his wife after all. “ Don't. ” her raised palms and burning eyes were enough to silence him. Without saying a word, she stood up from the bed and walked out of the room. Joseph wondered where she was going until he heard the door of the next room open and lock from inwards. “ Love is patient. ” He heard those words again, this time he nodded with understanding. “ Lord. I need you. ” It was obvious he couldn't do anything, he had come to the end of himself and only God can do anything now. And that's what was needed. The acknowledgement that only God can do what he couldn't. That's where God's sovereignty came to play and it's beautiful. ….. A/N : What do you think, guys?
