I woke up to an empty space beside me and I almost panicked as a result.
  But the letter I found on the bedside reduced my panic.
It read,
Dear Hubby,
I'm fine, okay?
So you don't have to panic.
I just thought of doing something different today. 
You know, you've been taking good care of me over the past few weeks and it's been wonderful.
For some reason, I'm starting to believe getting married was one of the best decisions I've ever made. 
Thank you for being the very best hubby to me. 
I love you.
PS : Freshen up before coming downstairs, Kay? 
I smiled at her words and did as she said before heading downstairs. 
  The scent of cake assaulted my senses and I smiled both in shock and pride at it. 
   Slowly, i tiptoed into the kitchen and there she was, my wife wearing a chef’s uniform as she busied herself with adding icing sugar to the cake. 
“ Good morning, Wifey. ” I embraced her from behind and I felt her jump before slowly relaxing in my arms. 
“ You scared me. ” She hit me playfully with her knuckles. 
“ Sorry about that. ” I replied, clearly not feeling guilty for what I'd just done. 
“ What's the occasion? ” I asked, not being able to hold back my inquisiveness.
“ What don't you guess? ” She gave me a mischievous smile.
“ Um… ” I looked at her from head to toe. 
“ You are pregnant? ” I was surprised by my own guess. Cos, how could she be, we've been married for less than a month or wait…
“ It's our one month anniversary. ” I grinned like a fool. 
“ Now you know. ” She escaped before coming back with a package. 
“ I got this for you. Happy one month anniversary, Hubby. ” She embraced me.
“ Oh wow. Thank you. ” I received it and slowly opened it. 
And it was, A letter and a diamond wristwatch. 
The letter read.
Dear Hubby,
Thank you for the past month which has been blissful all around.
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for putting up with my emotional self. 
Thank you for teaching me the most basic things a wife should know.
Thank you for doting on me. 
Thank you for reminding me of what fatherhood looks like. 
Thank you for praying with me.
Thank you for all you've done for me, Hubby. 
You are indeed the best and I honestly can't wait to do life with you, Hubby. 
I love you, Jose. 
Thank you for loving me, more.
“ Wow… ” For a moment after reading I couldn't say a word as I kept staring at the paper in hand before at last, I looked up at my dazzling bride and before I could stop myself she was up in my arms as I swung her around.
“ Hey… ” She hooked her arms on my neck on impulse. 
“ I love you, Wifey. ” I finally put her down and embraced her tightly, it was more like I'd wanted to melt into her. 
“ I know, Thank you. ” She placed a peck on my lips and just before she could move away, I captured her in my arms and deepened the kiss.  “ Your lips are super soft and full. ” I grinned, holding her in my arms.
“ Shameless. ” She hit me on the chest with a red face. 
“ So where's my anniversary present? ” I found myself at a loss, I couldn't possibly say I forgot about it cos that would offend her a whole lot and I couldn't lie at the same time. 
But then I remembered and reached out to open the fridge and got a bar of famous chocolate.  “ Here, I hope you like it. ” I didn't miss the ecstasy that filled her eyes at my words.  “ I love it. ” She took them from me and instantly opened one and began chewing.  “ It's yummy. ”
“ Thanks, Hubby. ” She half hugged me and I felt my heart soar at how easy it was to satisfy her.  Could I have ever asked for more, actually?
…
Later,
“ Now it's time to taste the cake. ” Her excitement was contagious and I couldn't help feeling the same too.  “ Yay. ” 
I watched her cut the cake into slices with such amazing dexterity and placed one on my plate.  “ You can now have a bite. ”
“ Thank you. ” I cut the cake with a fork and under her watchful gaze, I placed it in my mouth and almost immediately. I opened my eyes as shock filled me.
I was met with her hopeful eyes, “ How was it? ”
“ It's amazing, Babe. ” I gave her a high five and she took it immediately.  “ You are super good at this, Hon. ”
“ Awn. Thank you. ” She then went ahead to take a bite and seeing the look in her eyes, I knew she couldn't help agreeing more. 
…..
“ I didn't know people celebrate their monthly anniversary too. ” I inquired as we stayed in the living room watching a Christmas movie. 
“ There are many things you don't know, ah. ”
“ Someone is learning how to be a wife, uh. ” I smiled, recalling how amazing this week had been. It started with her offering to style my hair every morning which had never happened before. 
Then it moved to her helping me with ironing my clothes and doing my laundry.
And now? It's finally moved to her making our meals, though I still do it sometimes to avoid overwhelming her. 
“ Isn't it a good thing? ” She shot me a look. 
“ Yup, it is. I feel super blessed. ” 
“ Better. ”
…
“ You know, Jose. When I walked down the aisle a month ago. I had a lot of doubts. I wondered if I'll ever be a competent wife for you. I wondered if you'll ever regret marrying me if I turn out not as amazing as you expected… ” 
“ But it's changed now, Jose. I feel more confident now. ”
“ I'm glad. ” I cupped her face in my palms. “ I've never doubted your abilities, Babe. You've always been more than enough for me. ”
“ Thank you for always reminding me of that. ”
“ My pleasure. Thank you too for being too good for me. ”
“ I love you, Honey. ”
“ I love you more, Jose. ” She grinned as our lips connected, this time we didn't separate until we were completely out of breath and even then, we simply laid in each other's arms.
