Chapter 52 Absent

Days have been already passed, but I can't see Zoe, she's not attending the class this past few days.
I'm worried about her, she's not even calling or messaging me to inform me of what's going on. I want to go to her house, but we promised that we should stay away from each other's family problems.
She told me that I should focus on the things that can educate me, and teach me some experiences.
“Mr. McKenzie! Are you listening? You're space out, and I think, you didn't listen to our lesson!” I closed my eyes, because of irritation.
“Are you done? Not yet? Go ahead, do whatever you want, but make sure you will get yourself out of here! Get out!” she shouted. I sighed.
I must stay calm and decided to go outside. While walking through the hallway, a familiar face that recognized by my vision.
It's Sapphire! My childhood best friend. She's the only one that I'm talking to when nobody wants to listen to my random stories.
I mean, she's staying with me if Zoe is busy or doing all the commands by our teacher, and from her parents.
However, Sapphire is one of the people that I can talk to, and go with her anywhere.
“Sapp! What are you doing?” she turned her gaze to me. She rolled her eyes, “What can you see? Are you blind? Like, duh, you have your own eyes.”
“Fine, by the way, I'm here because my teacher was mad at me, she said that I'm not listening to her, which is right, she's so boring, and her words of teaching were completely common!”
“So? Who cares? Who asks?” she said while her eyebrow was raised. I giggle, “Sapphire is always Sapphire,” I murmured.
“What do you mean? I'm busy, don't disturb me, and move! Go away!” Her voice is echoing through the empty hallway.
I shrugged my shoulder, “Okay? Your wish is my command, I'm about to help you, but it seems like you don't need it, bye-bye!” I waved my hand, and turn my back.
She's just like that, but when it comes to problems, and to the people she loves, Sapphire is a soft person.
I witnessed it, although, her attitude became like that when her mother was pregnant. In my opinion, she doesn't like to have a younger sibling.
From my perspective, she will accept it, I assume that she needs time to accept, and absorb the situation.
Imagine, she's the only daughter for 16 years and then her mother suddenly became pregnant.
I honestly believe that her mother gave birth to her when her mother was only 18 years old. So, in my calculations, her mother was already 34 years old at the present time.
I went to the rooftop, the students are prohibited to go here, yet I decided to go here.
Furthermore, I scanned the whole place, my eyes widened, and I feel like my heart suddenly stopped for a second.
A student is standing at the railings, she's having long hair, and it reached her waist, and she's wearing our uniform.
“Miss! Stop! What are you doing there? Come here, it's not a good idea!” I shouted. She's still standing without flinching or giving some glances to me.
I walked one by one and forced myself not to make any noises from my steps. A cold wind touches my skin that caused me a goosebump.
Her skin is pale like snow, and her lips were white like she lost her blood. I whispered, “Miss? We could talk about your problems, but please, come here, and stay away from the railings.”
She's still ignoring me, although, she's not moving.
I felt like my soul left my body, and I'm not able to breathe. I must be dreaming, It's not true.
As far as I can see, she's a familiar student that must be very dear to me. I can't accept this.
“NO!” All of a sudden, she jumped from the railings without giving me some glimpses. I stood up here speechless.
I want to scream or yell, but no sounds are coming from my mouth. Beads of sweat are dripping down on my face.
It was Sapphire, I'm just wondering, why she reached the rooftop, though, I just talked to her, just for a few minutes had passed.
I immediately looked down and examined the ground. I gasped for air, my heartbeat is racing a mile for a minute.
“Sapphire!” I shouted while looking at the ground, “Sapphire! Where are you?” I'm just wondering, I saw her face clearly, she's standing here at the railings, and then she jumped, but why the hell I can't see her body.
I'm hoping that it's just my hallucinations. I gulped, “Why are you shouting? Why are you calling my name?” a familiar voice asked.
No, what's going on? I touched my head, “Maybe, I'm just... never mind, I'm tired.” I saw Sapphire, she's standing in front of me while having a bewildered look on her face.
“Tell me, I rushed to come here because I heard that you're calling my name, look at you, your face was white like you saw a ghost.” She laughed.
“Yes, I saw something.” She suddenly stopped laughing, and her eyes were wide open, “What? What are you saying?” she asked.
“I saw you earlier, you were standing there at the railings, and then after a minute, you jumped off, I'm stopping you, but you kept ignoring me,” I stated.
“I'm in the hallway, how?” Her body starts to tremble, and she's sweating. I shook my head and closed my eyes.
“That's exactly what I'm seeking to answer, otherwise, it's a real ghost.” Her eyes were already welled up in tears.
I hug her, “Let's go, I'm here, stop crying, nothing bad will happen, okay?” I whispered.
“I'm s-scared,” she murmured, “I'm here, you will be safe to me, I will protect you, promise.”
I hold her hand, and we both walk through the stairs and went back to our classroom.
