Chapter 81: White Mourning Color

The clock struck eight o'clock in the evening, Nancy dragged her suitcase out of the gate. Looking up at the house one last time, she quickly wiped away her tears and quickly got into the taxi.
Seeing the phone screen showing countless missed calls from Jolie, she immediately called back.
“Oh my god, my friend, are you lost? Why aren't you here yet?” Jolie's voice showed obvious worry.
“I'm getting there. I'm sorry, something urgent happened so...”
“Nancy, are you crying?”
“No, I think I have a cold. See you later.”
“Yes, I'll wait for you to come and have dinner together.”
The rain continued to fall, the deserted street was so sad, each drop of rain was like a drop of sadness pouring into the heart of the lonely traveler.
The days with him from childhood until now passed quickly through her mind like a movie.
As soon as Nancy got out of the car, she saw Jolie holding an umbrella waiting at the end of the alley. She smiled slightly, a bit of warmth seeping into her cold soul.
The sound of the two women's heels hitting the deserted street made the street even sadder.
Mason was holding the baby boy in his arms, coaxing him to sleep. He nodded slightly, smiling at Nancy as soon as he saw her.
Jolie urged Nancy to put away her things and quickly set the dinner table. Nancy felt as if she had returned to the past when she had run away from Nathan and gone to the mountainous region with vast green tea hills.
She has engraved the kindness of this couple in her heart, hoping to repay it one day.
The next morning, at the city funeral home, snow was flying lightly. There were many employees of Global Group, plus Dylan's extensive connections, so the group of people who came to visit the funeral was as large as the Yuan army.
Paul enthusiastically guided everyone so that the visit to the deceased went smoothly. His face was a bit haggard from staying up all night with his boss.
Not seeing the shadow of his boss's future wife, he was extremely surprised but did not dare to open his mouth to ask.
While he was thinking, Dylan suddenly waved his hand to signal him to come closer and whispered in his ear. His eyes widened and then narrowed, then he nodded, said yes, then slipped through the crowd and disappeared.
Not far from where Camille's coffin was placed, Kane's funeral was also taking place. Today, seeing that Rosalind's mood had improved, Alisa dared to take her to the funeral.
Although Doris was unhappy in her heart, in front of many people she still appeared to be an affectionate stepmother, so she quickly came to help and comfort Rosalind.
Daniel and several branch managers of LE Bank had just arrived. They carried in a huge wreath.
Daniel silently went to Kane's portrait, lit incense, and offered his condolences to the family. Seeing the girl he once loved so thin and haggard, he felt extremely heartbroken.
He knew that his decision to sue SN Group was one of the reasons for today's unfortunate incident, but he had no other choice. The business market is inherently fierce, so people in the business world will understand him.
“Rosalind, please be less sad, try to stay healthy.”
“Thank you, Daniel.”
Because Lyle was here, Daniel felt more secure. He thought that something had happened to the SN Group, so many people had turned their backs on Rosalind, but Lyle was still by her side, proving that he was the trustworthy person she could trust.
At least she would have someone to take care of her. In terms of money and status, Lyle was not much worse than him.
Leaving Kane's funeral, Daniel and the directors moved to Camila's funeral. He saw Donna standing in the staff's visiting group, but because he kept his promise to her, he ignored her, pretending he wasn't close to her at all.
In the afternoon, the snow fell more and more. Paul had returned after going to Nancy's house. Looking at the boss's expectant face, he was both scared and worried.
“She's gone. I asked people around but no one knew. Maybe she left at night. Boss, do you need me to search the whole city to find her?”
“No need. She's gone, I don't need to look anymore.”
“Huh? Oh, yes, boss.”
Paul bowed and backed down. He didn't understand anything.
Dylan looked outside. The white and cold snowstorm froze the earth and sky and his heart.
The scene outside the funeral home suddenly became solemn and quiet. He didn't want to believe that everything was true. She once again left him alone, their relationship was short-lived, lasting only a few months.
“Nancy, you better not appear in front of me again, otherwise, you will regret it.”
Dylan's hand clenched tightly. After just one night, he looked a lot thinner. The man in a black suit looked out into the snow-covered space, looking extremely lonely and desolate.
After a few days, the day to say goodbye to the deceased also came. After burying Camila, Dylan was almost exhausted, he had to put aside his work and stay home to recuperate.
As for Rosalind, the day after Kane's funeral, the banks filed a lawsuit in court.
Although the SN Group had many properties spread all over the place, the debt had reached a huge number.
The situation was that if she auctioned them off, the price would be forced down because everyone would take this opportunity to buy them at the cheapest price possible.
Stepping into Kane's home office, Rosalind looked around. She thought he was still there, on the chair, by the window, and at the tea table.
Her thin, pale hands gently caressed the photo they had taken together when she had just graduated from college.
The door opened slightly, and Doris walked in, her eyes blazing with annoyance. Over the years, even though she couldn't give birth to any children, she still tried to stay by Kane's side, taking care of him in the hope that he would transfer the fertile land in the south of the city to her name.
Last month, he promised to make a deed to give that land to her as a thank-you gift, but before he did, something bad happened.
“There's no one here now, so I'll say it directly. I've been taking care of him for the past few years, I've done a lot of work, but I'm also very understanding, as long as you hand over the land in the south of the city to me, I won't ask for anything more.” Doris didn't beat around the bush and stated her request.
“Stepmother, I have calculated. Even if I liquidate all of my father's assets, it will not be enough to pay off the debt...”
“That's your father's problem and yours. I just need a little property to protect myself.”
“How can you be so heartless? Why do you only think about money?”
“You dare say I'm heartless? Do you know why your father had to come to this last step? Isn't it because he has a daughter who can't distinguish between good and bad like you?”
After finishing speaking, Doris threw the tape recorder onto the desk. Rosalind looked at her, then reached out and picked it up, pressing the button.
Her face turned pale and then red. The entire conversation between her father and Emery rang out clearly. Turning to look at Doris, her voice trembled.
“Where did you get this?”
“Your father's office.”
“You secretly recorded my father.”
“So what? Thanks to that, I know that you, the holy goddess, are the cause of this series of tragedies. You dare to speak loudly to me?”
Doris pouted and turned away, kicking away a pair of wooden vases on the floor.
Rosalind stood still for a long time, tears falling and wetting her scarf. It turned out that her father had a reason for calling her and asking about her relationship with Daniel, but she raised her voice, cutting off his last hope of salvation.
Rosalind's mind gradually became chaotic, the name Daniel kept echoing in her head. Her eyes flashed with deep hatred. She thought that he was the one who started everything, he was the one who asked Emery to come and set conditions and finally put pressure on her father.
As for the old secret, she was always afraid that one day Daniel would reveal it to everyone. In a flash, she had the idea of killing him to cover up the clues.
Thinking so, she quickly took the phone and called him.
“Daniel, it's me.”
“Yes, what's up?”
“Can we see each other for a moment? I need your help with something.”
“Of course. Where will we meet?”
“Let me text you the address.”
Daniel glanced at Alma who was happily choosing books. Today, he spent an entire morning taking his future wife's sister shopping.
Donna and Alma were orphans and he knew that Donna loved her sister more than herself, so he also spoiled Alma. If he and his lover had an argument in the future, Alma would be the bridge to reconcile.
As soon as the text message tone rang, Daniel quickly took out his phone to look. He was a little surprised when the meeting place was an abandoned apartment building.
But he had no doubts, thinking that Rosalind was afraid of meeting reporters as well as relatives of the dead workers, so she chose this place.
It seemed that Alma had not finished choosing the things she needed to buy, so he approached her and spoke softly.
“Alma, I have to go out for a while, you can choose freely, I will come back to pay and pick you up later.”
“Where are you going?” Alma looked at him, her eyes filled with suspicion.
“I am going to meet Rosalind, actress Rosalind.”
After hearing what he said, Alma's eyes lit up like a lamp with oil being added. She insisted that he bring her along so she could see Selena in real life.
Daniel kept refusing, saying that he had something personal to tell Rosalind, but Alma thought that he had another woman besides her sister.
Even though Daniel swore and pledged repeatedly, the girl still did not agree and kept asking to go with him. In the end, he agreed on the condition that she had to hide and not let Rosalind see her.
Alma happily said yes then pulled him to the payment counter.
