At exactly eight o'clock in the morning, Lyle and Edana led the group of Global Group employees to visit Alma's funeral. As he left the funeral home, he accidentally ran into Daniel. “Thank you, Mr. Daniel, I will try to make it up to Donna later.” Lyle said softly. “It's all my fault, we forced Rosalind to a dead end. As for Donna, I'll take care of her.” “What are you two saying? Alma was harmed by Rosalind?” The voice from behind startled them both. Donna's dull eyes from staying up all day and night stared straight at them. Lyle quickly spoke up to explain that she had heard wrong, but Donna still firmly grabbed Daniel, trying to ask questions. “I didn't mishear. You said Rosalind killed my sister, right?” “Donna, please calm down and listen to me.” Daniel gently reassured her. “No, I have to report to the police.” After saying that, Donna was about to run away but Lyle quickly held her back. She cried and hit his arm hard. “Donna, Rosalind is mentally ill, she can't control her actions, even if you call the police, they won't be able to solve anything. I will take responsibility for everything on her behalf, I will compensate you.” Lyle hastily explained. “How are you going to compensate? Can you return my sister's life?” Donna screamed, struggled out of Lyle's arms, then fell to the ground, fainting. Daniel panicked and ran to help her. He told Lyle to leave first and then carried his lover inside. After a long while, Donna woke up and begged Daniel to testify. However, he advised her to give up because Rosalind was sick and Lyle would use his money and connections to protect her. “You are also very rich and powerful, why can't you help me?” “Donna, the cause of all this is because of me, I beg you...” “You rich bastards. How could you guys do that? Go away, get out of my sight, go away.” Donna shouted. Daniel saw that Donna was confused so he rushed in to hug and comfort her, but she kicked him down as soon as he rushed forward. She grabbed whatever she could and threw it at him. Although Daniel's body was full of injuries, he still tried to stay by Donna's side. Her pitiful cry seemed to tear his heart apart. She hated herself because if she hadn't started a relationship with him, her sister wouldn't have died. She knew she couldn't get justice for Alma. If Daniel hadn't agreed to help, how could she fight Lyle? The cold snow and frost froze her budding love for him. Before she could love him, she turned to hate him. In the end, the person he chose to protect was still his first unrequited love, not her. Today, she wanted to cry until her tears ran dry, for Alma and also for this broken love. After a few days, the funeral was completed. Donna tried to regain her spirit, wrote her resignation letter, went to the company, then went straight to the deputy general director's office, knocked on the door, and entered. As soon as she appeared, an awkward atmosphere immediately enveloped Lyle's office. He looked at the resignation letter in his hand and then at her. Among his subordinates, she was the one he favored no less than Nancy. Now that he had hurt her to protect the girl he loved, he felt extremely uncomfortable. “Have you thought carefully?” Lyle asked in a weak voice. “Yes.” Donna replied coldly. “Donna, the dead are dead, the living must continue to live, you…” “I will definitely live well, as long as I don't have anything to do with people like you who use money to distort the truth and turn black into white.” “Okay, I'll tell Mina to arrange for someone to replace you. Donna, if you need anything in the future, just let me know.” “What I need, can you give me? Can you return my sister's life?” After saying that, Donna quickly turned around and walked away before the tears from the corners of her eyes could fall. After Alma's funeral, she was completely haggard, her fair skin had turned pale, and the powder couldn't erase the dark circles around her eyes. Because her eyes were wet with tears, she almost bumped into Paul when he was rushing to the president's office. At first, Paul wanted to ask her a few questions, but seeing her unwell appearance, he didn't say anything. As soon as Dylan saw Paul enter, he quickly sat up straight in the swivel chair, pretending to be intently looking at a document. Paul hesitantly walked towards Dylan. He was miserable with this boss. He remembered that the day at the funeral home, the boss spoke in a heartless tone, but after two or three days, he changed his mind and ordered him to run around looking for Nancy. Paul obeyed his boss's orders, so he dug up the whole city, went to province D, and sent someone to guard Nancy's mother's grave. As for any companies related to her profession and expertise, he sent his subordinates there to hide and observe so that if she applied for a job, they would immediately discover her. However, for more than a week now, there has been no sign of her. “Still haven't seen her?” Dylan asked. “Yes sir, I am expanding the search to more distant provinces. She's definitely still in the country because I checked all the airports but there's absolutely no name for her.” “Okay, continue. Ah, how is the progress of the Sunny House project going?” “Stephen's assistant reported that the main construction items have been completed. As for the interior, equipment, etc., it will be finished in about three months. Expected to be completed before the new year.” Paul answered while glancing at the document in Dylan's hand. He admired his boss very much because Dylan could read the backward letters. Paul secretly thought that perhaps all outstanding people do things that go against nature. Paul didn't know Dylan was acting because he wasn't looking at the documents. Waiting until Paul left, Dylan reached out to pull the desk drawer. The stack of wedding photos that had not been put in the album was still there, the bride's face with a satisfied smile like rubbing salt into his heart. Dylan smiled bitterly. Being a failed groom twice made him feel like he was at the bottom of society. His head bowed again, his hands continued to work on the computer and the towering stack of documents. He continued to work until the afternoon, not eating or drinking. Only when he immersed himself in work like this could he temporarily forget the pain. When it was time to get off work, Dylan quickly turned off his computer and left the office. As soon as he stepped out the door, he encountered Lyle and Mina. The three of them didn't say anything, just nodded slightly to each other. Lyle and Mina went to another elevator together, not standing with the president. Driving out of the Global Group's gate, Lyle quickly went to the hospital to visit Rosalind. From the day she killed someone and had an accident until now, she was sometimes awake and sometimes unconscious and had not fully recovered, so he was very worried. The city hospital was quite busy during the afternoon visiting hours, but the service room was still very quiet. The doctor had just finished examining Rosalind and leaving when she woke up from a long sleep. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Lyle sitting next to her, his eyes filled with a lot of pain and sorrow but still trying to smile gently. “You're awake. Thank goodness.” “Lyle.” Rosalind softly called his name instead of saying hello. “I have good news for you. Dylan has decided to buy SN Group at market price, so don't worry too much about the debts.” “Did Daniel come to find me?” “No. Try to stay healthy. The transfer and sale documents still need your signature.” Hearing Lyle speak, Rosalind's anxiety lessened a bit. She thought to herself that if Daniel hadn't come looking for her, it certainly wouldn't have been anything serious, that girl was probably only injured and not life-threatening. Rosalind didn't understand why she lost control at that time to the point of wanting to kill Daniel. Thinking about it now, she was still very scared. Lyle helped Rosalind sit up against the pillow, then took the hot porridge box from the table and carefully fed her. She accepted his care with peace of mind, not knowing that his heart was in turmoil and his conscience was tormented. Donna's tear-stained face and complaints made him unable to sleep peacefully for many nights in a row. As soon as Alisa entered, Lyle quickly left the hospital but did not go home but drove straight to the bar, immersed in the lively atmosphere and alcohol to temporarily forget that he was condoning and hiding the crime. Although Rosalind was sick, he could not make his heart feel lighter for that reason.
