Chapter 87: The Snow Hasn't Melted Yet

Coming back from the party, Kent kept looking at and fondling the gift Edana gave him. When she dragged him out of the karaoke bar, she discovered that he wasn't wearing a scarf, so she opened the gift box and wrapped the scarf around his neck.
He silently thanked this movie for helping him meet Edana. Suddenly remembering that this was also the last project edited by Nancy, he sighed regretfully.
That lovely girl left without saying goodbye, so he didn't know what happened between her and the president of Global Group that caused their love to break up so quickly.
It wasn't until late at night that he crawled into bed, but decided not to take off his scarf, just sleeping like that even though he felt a little uncomfortable around his neck.
The darkness already carries a sadness, and the addition of the snow shower makes it even more sad. Under the light of the high-pressure lamps that penetrated the fluttering snowflakes, Daniel lowered his head, leaned against the car, and waited, despite the cold, white flowers covering his head.
After sending Alma to the cemetery for burial, he had to go abroad for work. When he just landed at the airport in a foreign country, he received a farewell message from Donna.
For several days, he called her continuously but she did not answer, and when he texted her, she did not reply. The winter weather was cold, but his heart was burning.
After finishing the negotiation, he hurriedly flew back. When he arrived at Global Corporation, he learned that she had left work early. Finally, he ran to the alley of the boarding house and waited from late afternoon until dark, but she still had not appeared.
It was not until ten o'clock at night that Daniel saw Donna's staggering figure getting out of the taxi, her mouth singing but he couldn't hear clearly.
After taking a few steps, she slipped and fell onto the white snow, then, instead of getting up, she just sat there staring at the sky.
He pursed his lips, and walked closer, reaching out his hand towards her.
“Donna, give me your hand.”
“We're over. You are illiterate?”
Daniel pretended to be deaf, grabbing Donna and pulling her up. She struggled to escape from his arms, almost falling.
“You protected her, you said you didn't know the killer. Daniel, I hate you, if it wasn't for my sister saving you, she wouldn't have died.”
Donna screamed until her voice was hoarse. The tears that were about to fall were suppressed and broke, filling her eyes. She turned her back and hobbled towards the boarding house.
Daniel tried to run after her and pull her hand several times, but she pushed him away and cursed him.
In his entire life, from the time he was born until now, he has never been scolded like this by anyone. He felt like he was the scum that had been dug up from the sewer.
Feeling heartbroken, hating himself, and not knowing how to calm his lover's anger, he grabbed Donna's hand and pulled her towards the car, opened the door, took out a sharp knife, and gave it to her, pointing the blade straight at his heart.
“Don't torture me like this anymore, it's all my fault, Alma died because of me. Please kill me, after you kill me, don't hate me anymore.”
Seeing the teardrops falling from the corner of his eyes, her heart suddenly ached. She hated him, at this moment she really wanted to stab him, but she was sober enough to know that even if she killed him, her sister still couldn't come back to life.
“Why? Why wasn't the dead person you, but my sister, why?”
The knife in Donna's hand fell and she also collapsed. The sound of sobs and bitter reproaches rang out, causing Daniel to stand motionless. For the first time, he felt this kind of pain so numb that he wanted to die.
In the quiet darkness, Donna trudged along in the cold snow, while Daniel stood still, watching the footprints she left behind as indifferent traces of their short-lived love.
Getting into the car, through the rearview mirror, Daniel noticed a few bodyguards working for Emery lurking not far away. Quickly wiping the salty tears from the corner of his lips, he pressed the accelerator pedal and drove away.
When he got home, he stopped by the study to find his father because he knew that his father often stayed up late these days.
When Emery saw his son enter, he quickly hung up. Before he could ask, Daniel spoke up.
“Dad, why did you let someone follow me?”
“You already know? Who is that girl making you suffer like this?”
“What are you going to do to her? Dad, if anything happens to her, I will die.”
After Daniel finished speaking, he quickly ran straight to his room and lay down on the bed. Outside, Linda sadly stared at the door.
Emery came out of the study, saw her, and immediately approached. The old couple said nothing, just quietly helping each other leave.
He sent bodyguards to monitor Daniel because he was afraid his son would do something foolish, but he never intended to put any pressure on that girl.
Tonight, in this splendid city with bright lights, there are countless people whose appearance seems full of happiness but deep inside is loneliness, emptiness, and guilt, wandering in sadness and remorse.
The new day gradually comes, sending the darkness away according to the law. When Lyle heard a light breath beside him, he quickly turned around and he almost couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the girl lying next to him was Laura.
Although he tried to recall, he couldn't remember what happened after meeting her at the bar.
Laura coquettishly rubbed her head against Lyle's chest, slowly looking up. Seeing his eyes full of hate, she felt a little embarrassed but quickly got into her role, acting like she was the victim, sitting up, backing away, and crying bitterly.
Even though the beauty was crying, Lyle still calmly adjusted his clothes and walked away. As he passed her, he didn't forget to say a cold sentence.
“I will pretend nothing happened. It is best that you do not let anyone know about what happened last night, otherwise, you will bear the consequences yourself.”
As soon as his figure disappeared, the crying stopped. Laura looked blankly at the door, feeling that something was wrong. She wanted to threaten him, but before she could say anything, he spoke first. How funny.
However, she liked his cold appearance. She decided not to use the story of Rosalind harming Nathan in the past to put pressure on Lyle, but would use another way to gain the affection of this noble deputy general manager.
Because it was still early morning, when Lyle arrived home, Mina was still fast asleep on the sofa in the living room.
Entering, seeing her, he paused for a long time before coming forward and gently shaking her shoulder.
“Mina.”
“Oh, deputy general director, you're back.” She said as she rubbed her eyes and sat up.
“Yes, why are you here?”
“Huh? Ah… ah, yesterday was director Kent's birthday, I was too drunk so I asked Wynn to take me home.”
Mina grimaced and lied. When she knew that Wynn was loyal to her, she wanted to protect him from Lyle's scolding, but she didn't know that her words made Lyle even more dissatisfied with his famous younger brother.
“Wash your face and I'll take you home.”
After saying that, Lyle walked straight upstairs and rushed into Wynn's room.
Wynn was curled up in the blanket like a caterpillar in a cocoon when Lyle grabbed him and pulled him hard, causing him to roll over and fall off the bed.
“Brother, what are you doing? So painful.”
“If Mina was drunk, you should have taken her to her home, why did you bring her here? Single boy and single girl in the same place. Aren't you worried about her?”
“I brought her here?” Wynn asked innocently.
“It seems like you drank too little yesterday, huh? You left her lying in the living room, what if she got a stroke?”
Lyle threw the blanket at Wynn, slammed the door, and returned to his room to shower and change.
Wynn was still not fully awake, his face blank for a while. After fifteen minutes, he couldn't remember what happened, so he hurriedly ran downstairs to check.
According to Lyle, he brought Mina here but he felt it wasn't logical at all. If he took her home, he would have taken her to his room and let her lie down on a warm blanket and a soft mattress, not let her sleep on the sofa.
Seeing Wynn just appeared on the stairs, Mina turned away in confusion, wondering why Lyle hadn't come down yet.
“Was I the one who took you home last night?”
“Right.” Mina saw Lyle appear so she lied.
“Let's go.” Lyle buttoned up his shirt cuffs and walked quickly towards the door.
Mina lowered her head and hurriedly followed him.
Wynn sat down and pursed his lips. He wondered if he had said anything stupid to Mina while drunk because she looked so confused.
