Chapter 91: Offer to Help

After finishing the meal, everyone left one by one. Nancy was walking to the car with Jolie when Stephen passed her, blocked her way, and pleaded.
“Nancy, talk to me in private for a moment.”
“I still have something to do…”
“If you refuse, I will call Dylan. He is right behind me.”
Nancy looked at Stephen in shock, he didn't look like he was joking. She did not dare to move, pursed her lips to regain composure, then softly told Jolie to go first and followed him and left.
When Dylan lowered his phone, he saw Stephen walking with a girl.
As if he had a hunch, he hurriedly chased after them. Because his eyes were already glued to the girl in front of him, he didn't look left or right and bumped into the waiter who was carrying a huge clay pot of beef hotpot.
The waiter twirled around like he was dancing ballet and then poured all the hot pot broth on Dylan's head.
He was covered in broth, vegetables were hanging from his hair and shoulders, and his pure white shirt had changed color.
Luckily the hot pot wasn't heated yet, otherwise, the president of Global Group would have been boiled, and then he didn't know where to get the skin to put on his face.
The restaurant owner heard the news and immediately ran over, bowing his head to apologize.
Because Dylan couldn't bring his body that smelled of beef into the room to meet Lisa, he called her and said he had a headache, and apologized to her.
Then he asked Lyle to take her to the hotel while he went to another room to shower and wait for Paul to bring him clothes to change before returning to the company.
At exactly three o'clock in the afternoon, Daria suddenly pushed open the office door and walked in, making Dylan a little surprised. Normally, he would call her over here when he needed something but she never came herself.
Before Dylan could ask, she explained that there were some documents that needed Stephen to sign, but she had waited for a long time without seeing him return, and when she called him, she couldn't reach him, so she brought them all here for the chairman to sign for her.
“Where did he say he was going?” Dylan asked while signing.
“He said he was going out to have lunch.” She replied softly.
“Lunch? I'm sure he waited for the restaurant to cook dinner and ate it all at once.”
“Could it be that he forgot to bring money so they forced him to stay there and wash dishes?”
After listening, Dylan's lips curled up a little. Since the day Nancy left, Daria has never seen him smile.
His bright smile only lit up when that girl appeared and faded as soon as she disappeared and he returned to his cold appearance, without a trace of joy like when they first met.
At the same time, because two people mentioned his name, Stephen sneezed several times. He drove slowly through the intersections and stopped in the field of reeds on the edge of the city.
The flowers were no longer white but covered in a cold snow color.
“Nancy, why did you change direction? Don't you love being an editor?” Stephen asked gently.
“It's all about making money.” She replied indifferently.
“Don't you know how complicated the job you're doing is?”
“Just think of it as if I'm acting in a movie.”
“Don't talk to me with that resigned tone.”
Stephen angrily growled, breaking Nancy's disguise. Transparent tears fell one after another, soaking her heavily made-up face.
Seeing her cry, he felt his heart ache, and quickly pulled her into his arms to comfort her.
“I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you.”
The more Stephen comforted Nancy, the more she felt wronged and cried even louder.
Waiting for her to calm down, he spoke softly. He respected her choice of work but hoped she would agree to let him intervene and arrange, forcing the contractors of Global Group to cut a part of their contract for her at a price he approved.
“That's not good, they'll hate me.” Nancy quickly refused.
“Don't worry, it's just a small part of them, what I gave them is much bigger. I don't want you to beg those men.”
“But Dylan...”
“He won't know. This construction segment is managed by me. At most, he only knew the contractor who signed the contract directly, but how could he know who they assigned the work to? Believe me!”
“I need to rethink.”
Hearing her say that, Stephen nodded, smiling happily. In his mind, if she thought about it, she would agree.
At this moment, he saw that he was no different from those guys who loved girls, only he didn't reveal it, he wanted her to slowly feel his heart, and then be moved and accept him.
Arriving at the beginning of the alley, Nancy told Stephen to stop so she could walk in because the road was too small. He insisted on seeing her off to her house, but she firmly refused.
Knowing that he could not change her mind, he took the umbrella, opened the car door, and ran towards her.
“Where is your friend's car?” He looked around and asked softly.
“We haven't bought a car yet, we borrowed it from our neighbor. Who would dare to ask for a project if they don't have a vehicle?” She shamelessly replied.
“Then I'm an exception, right? Nancy, please agree. In just one year, I'm sure things will get better.”
Nancy smiled, bowed slightly, then turned away.
Looking at the small figure holding the umbrella like a mushroom disappearing into the snow, Stephen suddenly felt strangely warm inside.
He could only help her in this way because if he took a pile of money and gave it to her, he was afraid he would get hit in the face with that pile of money.
Both pleased and excited, he turned around and sat in the car, forgetting that he hadn't opened the door yet.
What had to happen happened, when he hit the car, he applied a force F to the car, and the car applied a force F' to him. Although his weight was not too small, the reaction force F' also made him bounce back a distance.
Then, his whole body rushed forward and fell, his mouth was filled with white snow.
The result of being too excited was that his body was bruised, his knees were sore, and his buttocks were also sore, but fortunately, they were still intact.
If he had sat down any harder, he would have had to go to the hospital to get his buttocks patched up.
It was not until four o'clock in the afternoon that Stephen crawled back to his office. As soon as he opened the door and crawled in, he saw Dylan sitting on the sofa, raising his voice to question.
“Where have you been? I couldn't call you.”
“There's some personal business.” Stephen answered.
“The girl who went with you to the Red House restaurant…”
“What? You want to control my dating with my girlfriend, huh?”
“I didn't mean that. Stephen, has Nancy had any contact with you since then?”
“No.”
“Tomorrow, tell Daria to give me the progress report on the school and the tourist area in L province.” Dylan said as he got up from the sofa and walked out.
“This guy…”
Stephen clenched his fists and walked quickly to the desk. Because he forgot that his butt was not normal, he sat down hard, and as a result, he was in so much pain that he wanted to bite the desk.
