Chapter 95: The Fraudulent Woman

Gentle sunlight spreads across the road. Through the windshield, Laura happily looked at the shops on both sides of the road. Since Lyle knew she was pregnant, this was the first time he had taken her out for lunch.
But when the car turned into the city hospital, her face changed color.
“What are we here for?”
“Ultrasound.” Lyle replied briefly.
“I just had an ultrasound.”
“I want to be sure.”
Lyle said as he unbuckled his seat belt, hurriedly got out of the car, grabbed Laura's hand, and pulled her inside. She didn't understand what he meant. What did he want to be sure about?
The female doctor bowed when she saw Lyle appear. After a few questions about Laura's health and pregnancy, she turned to him and spoke softly.
“Which method do you want to do the test? If you use the invasive method, it must be done from around the fourteenth week of pregnancy…”
“Using the NITP test method.” He answered briefly.
“Test? Lyle, what are you doing?” Laura sat up in panic.
“What are you worried about? Aren't you very sure that I'm the baby's father?”
“No, I don't want to. If you do that, you don't respect me.”
After saying that, Laura ran away. Lyle pursed his lips and immediately chased after her.
Since the day she announced her pregnancy, Lyle hired an investigator and found out that she had an ambiguous relationship with Nolan. Nolan kept appearing in front of her house and screaming, demanding to see her. Therefore, Lyle wanted to confirm whether the baby in her belly was his or not.
Hearing Lyle's screams behind her, she became even more panicked and ran as fast as an arrow. Even she didn't know who the father of the child in her belly was.
She was afraid that if the test results showed that the baby was not Lyle's child, she would have no choice but to die because he certainly would not forgive the person who deceived him.
Unable to wait for the elevator to open, she ran down the stairs. Unfortunately, because she was too hasty and scared, she missed a step right when Lyle's hand touched her shoulder.
From above, he stood motionless, not because he saw Laura covered in blood, but because Rosalind was also standing there, right next to the person who had just fallen.
When their eyes met, Rosalind fainted on the spot. In the end, Lyle had to call Mina and ask her to go to the hospital to watch Laura while he took Rosalind home.
Since Rosalind realized that she had difficulty controlling her behavior, she had voluntarily stopped driving.
Today, Alisa asked for leave to return to her hometown, so she took a taxi to the hospital to visit a friend. In the end, before she could meet her friend, she had to return.
Sitting in his car, her whole body trembled. What she witnessed was him pushing his pregnant girlfriend down the stairs.
“What happened earlier…”
“I won't tell anyone. Oh, no, I don't see anything.”
Looking at Rosalind's panicked expression, Lyle understood that he had scared her. He didn't know where to start explaining, how to explain to her so that she would understand.
“This weekend's charity event...”
“This weekend I'm busy trying on dresses because on Monday I have to attend a party with Dylan. I probably won't be able to go.”
“It's okay.”
After dropping Rosalind off at the gate, Lyle quickly turned the car around and headed back to the hospital.
Unlike usual, Rosalind hurriedly unlocked the door and ran into the house, not standing there watching his car anymore.
Laura's bloody image reminded her of the little girl who blocked the knife for Daniel and Dylan's appearance when he was on the stretcher and taken to the emergency room.
While she was in a panic, the phone screen suddenly lit up, she trembled when she saw Dylan's name appear. Because she was so scared, she threw it into the corner of the wall, then crawled under the blanket and lay still.
After calling Rosalind several times but she didn't pick up, Dylan was a little surprised. Usually, she would pick up after just two rings.
The Sunny House project's ribbon-cutting ceremony was on Sunday and Paul's parents and his fiancée had chosen that day to hold the wedding.
Initially, Dylan planned to take Rosalind to the party early next week, but he felt that his health was not good so he decided not to come.
Just attending the project's inauguration party, he was already drunk, not to mention the wedding. Just having each person offer him a glass of wine would be enough to kill him.
His long, slender fingers quickly moved across the phone screen. He texted her to let her know that he had canceled his party schedule and then continued to focus on the computer.
At this time, in the city hospital, Laura had just woken up. Seeing Nolan's familiar face, she was startled.
Just now, thanks to the doctor whom he had bribed earlier calling him, he knew that Laura was in the hospital.
Seeing him shed tears, she quickly touched her belly. At this moment, Nolan burst into tears.
“Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant? The baby is gone.”
“What can you do if I tell you? Can you take care of me and my baby?”
“I know I'm inferior, but I will never let you and my child suffer.”
After speaking, Nolan pulled her into his arms. Both of them hugged each other and cried like they were at a funeral, not knowing that the deputy general director was standing still like a statue watching them.
“Laura, and Nolan, you two are very good. Laura, you think I'm an idiot, right?”
“No... Lyle..., you... where did you come from?”
Because Laura was so scared, she stuttered, and Nolan was busy thinking. It wasn't until Lyle disappeared and Laura fell to the floor because she ran after him that Nolan realized Lyle was her new boyfriend who was better than him, richer than him, which she used as a reason to break up.
“Is that the man who made you leave me?” Nolan growled and questioned.
“Yes. The baby is his child, not related to you.”
Laura screamed and pushed Nolan away, trying to crawl towards the door. He angrily picked her up and put her back on the bed, shouting.
“Can you calm down? Do you think that nobleman will accept a woman who slept with me?”
As soon as he finished speaking, he received a slap from Laura, her five finger marks were imprinted on his white face.
Up until this point, she was the only woman who made him lower himself. He once thought that if he got married, the person who would become his wife would have to be pure even though he was not clean at all.
But now, when he knew that she had slept with another man, he still wanted her to be his wife and wanted to protect and take care of her as much as possible.
“You should rest. I'll be outside, if you need anything, just call.”
Watching him leave, she burst into tears. She cried because she felt sorry for her unborn child.
She blamed Nolan for appearing and causing everything to fall apart and blamed Lyle for being cold-blooded and heartless and causing her to miscarry.
In her heart, there was only hatred left for Lyle. If she didn't make him suffer, she would never be able to calm down.
