Chapter 96: This City is So Small

When Stephen took Nancy back to Jolie's house, it was already dark. After hanging out with him all day, Nancy was tired, but compared to entertaining guests at the bar, she was still much healthier. Moreover, he paid for everything, she didn't spend a penny.
“Good night.” Stephen said softly.
“You too, have a good weekend.” Nancy smiled and replied softly.
Waiting for her figure to disappear deep into the alley, he drove away. The soft music echoed throughout the long journey.
He knew that tomorrow he would be drunk. Although Dylan will appear with him, everyone will have their own drink because that group of high-class guests will not let him go easily.
Upon arriving home, Stephen quickly showered and took out a few elegant suits to look at. After all, he had to attend two parties tomorrow, so he wanted to choose an outfit that was suitable for both parties. And in the end, the dark blue suit was chosen.
That's all he did, but it wasn't until late at night that he was able to crawl into bed.
At the same time, in the empty villa, Dylan reached out to close the computer and went to the wardrobe to choose clothes. Even though he knew he had to depart early, he couldn't go to sleep early.
His eyes glanced over and stopped on the dresses ordered from abroad for his missing wife.
At that time, she used the excuse that she was not his wife to refuse to accept them, so he brought them home and hung them here. He had waited until after the marriage to see her wearing them, but he did not expect that she would leave him.
“Nancy, where are you now? Are you asleep yet? I miss you so much. I don't know how much longer I can hold on.”
Hot tears fell from the corner of the man's eyes and shattered on the phone screen, flowing through the eyes of his lover.
As soon as it was dawn, the seven-seat car carrying Dylan, Stephen, and the senior staff went first, followed by more than ten other cars running one after another onto the highway.
The two bosses couldn’t sleep all night, so they closed their eyes as soon as they got in the car.
When Dylan woke up, the blue sea was in front of him. He quickly took a bottle of water to drink to stay awake and adjusted his clothes.
After cutting the ribbon, everyone toured the entire project and entered the party.
Although the two handsome guys tried their best to avoid drinking, they still got drunk.
Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, they ran to Paul's wedding, leaving Daria, Mina, and the other staff to deal with the guests.
Paul was overjoyed when he saw the two bosses coming, and quickly dragged Ella over to greet them. He thought they couldn't come.
Stephen shook hands with the bride and groom to congratulate them and then walked inside, but after just a few steps he was pulled back by Paul.
“Deputy general director, did you forget something?” Paul asked frankly.
“Forgot what?” Stephen looked surprised.
“Don't you have a gift for me?”
“Oh my god. You wrote in the invitation that my presence is an honor for your family. I brought myself here and you still don't feel honored?”
Ella chuckled and Paul was speechless when standing in front of the cunning deputy general manager.
Although Stephen said so, he quickly pulled out a thick envelope, stuffed it into Paul's hand, and leisurely walked in.
“Congratulations to the two of you, a hundred years of happiness.” Dylan handed the envelope to Paul, patted his shoulder gently, and softened his voice.
Paul was so touched that he almost cried and choked up as he thanked him. He knew it was the documents for a luxury apartment right in the city center.
Paul sympathized with his boss's situation, happiness seemed to have come to him but in the end, it was lost like this.
Time passed by so quickly, and it had been more than half a year since Nancy met Stephen again and received his sincere help.
Mason and his wife have paid off all the debts they owed to the bank and Nancy, and have also bought a car.
Jolie calculated that from now until the end of the year if the work continues to progress in this good direction, she can save enough money to buy a bigger and more spacious house to move the company there.
Although everything was going well, Nancy still wanted to find and approach other partners.
During this time, Stephen often split the bid packages into smaller ones and let Lucky Company sign directly with Global Group. He said that by doing so, Lucky Company would have a capacity profile so that it could bid for other places in the future.
Nancy was always worried that Dylan would find out one day and make things difficult for Stephen. So, she prepared one step ahead, in case she no longer received work from Global Group, there was still another unit that assigned the project to her.
Thanks to Daniel speaking up, Harry was supporting her very well. But because Harry's relatives were in the same industry as Lucky Company, he had to divide the work among the parties, sharing a little bit with each side.
“You have an appointment with Director Kelvin this afternoon? Nancy, I heard that he…” Jolie looked at Nancy and looked worried.
“It's okay. I just heard about him from others. I'll know when I meet him in person. Don't worry.”
“Oh, Global Group is constructing the Indochina high-end residential area. Has any unit received the electrical system yet? Didn't Mr. Stephen say anything?”
Jolie looked intently at the computer screen and spoke excitedly. Nancy leaned over to her friend to look and then smiled lightly.
“How can we get in there? That project is very big. Stephen will probably assign it to units with many years of experience.”
“Oh. That's right.” Jolie's voice lowered.
The Indochina high-end housing project invested by Global Group has twelve main subdivisions, including commercial townhouses, garden townhouses, semi-detached villas, single villas, parks, restaurants, apartments, schools, clinics, fitness centers, and entertainment centers with a scale of up to two hundred and seventy thousand square meters.
For such a massive project, just the electrical equipment supply package alone was a huge amount of money.
Lucky Company's finances were not strong enough, so Nancy did not expect Stephen to hand it over to her. Unless Global Corporation agreed to advance more than half of the contract, she would have enough money to import all the goods.
However, she knows that will never happen because no investor will accept the disadvantage. Stephen can't cover the sky with one hand and do whatever he wants.
“I'm leaving. He made an appointment at a restaurant in the city center at five o'clock in the afternoon. I'll go now so I have time to redo my nails.” Nancy said while putting her phone in her bag.
“Okay. If you can't drink, ask the waiters to help you drink and give them money, don't try.” Jolie worriedly instructed.
Nancy smiled and nodded, quickly walking out.
Today, Jolie's youngest child had a fever, so she had to stay home to watch over him, not daring to send him to the nursery. Leaving Nancy alone to meet that old man, she felt extremely uneasy.
Because everyone knew Nancy couldn't drive, whenever Joile wasn't with her, she took a cheap taxi for convenience.
After painting her nails, she walked to a nearby department store to buy some more makeup tools.
“Nancy.”
A female voice rang out from behind, causing Nancy to turn her head in surprise. Daniel was right, this city was very small, she didn't expect that she would meet an old friend just by going shopping.
“Hello, Miss Edana.”
“Long time no see. I thought I was about to eat your roasted pig, but it wasn't until the president's mother's funeral was over that I found out he canceled the wedding.”
“Dylan's mother has passed away?”
“Oh my god, she passed away a long time ago. Don't you know anything? But where are you working now?”
“I have to go first, goodbye.”
Edana opened her mouth and watched the girl run past the shelves, then disappeared out the door. Edana wanted to ask for Nancy's phone number but before she could say anything, Nancy had already left.
After paying the bill, Edana quickly returned to the company. Although Paul and Ella decided to stay in S City and he continued to be Dylan's assistant, since Ella was pregnant, Dylan promoted Edana to be his assistant, reducing the amount of work so that Paul could have time to take care of the pregnant woman.
A few times, Edana saw Nancy's wedding photo hidden under a pile of documents when she went to deliver documents to her boss, so she secretly guessed that the chairman was secretly looking at the photo of his fiancée and hadn't had time to put it away.
Thinking back and forth for a while, she decided to go to his office to snitch to see if it would help them rekindle their old love.
She was very excited when she thought like that, but when facing the cold man, she was speechless and stuttered, not knowing how to open her mouth.
Dylan frowned at her and looked surprised.
“What's wrong? If you have something to say, say it quickly, you're making me anxious.”
“President, actually... actually, I met your future wife just now. Oh no, it's editor Nancy.”
“Where did you see her?”
“Department store near the intersection. I just told her about your mother's death and she ran away, it seems like she didn't know, I...”
Without waiting for Edana to finish speaking, Dylan rushed away.
For the past several months, he had been hoping to get this bit of information. As long as he knew she was still lurking in S City, he believed he would find her.
Paul had just entered the main hall when Dylan grabbed him and forced him to drive to the city cemetery. He had a hunch that Nancy would appear there.
